If your wondering if he's gay , then maybe but that doesn't necessarily mean that , your just being dramatic, calm down

It can be hard enough for a 20yo guy to be comfortable in themselves, or to make any major statements regarding their appearance, don't hammer him on this one. For what it's worth, pierced ears aren't a sign of any sexual orientation if that's what you're thinking.

Depending on where you live, and what line of work he's interested in, it may be no harm to remind him that while you're okay with it (when you come around to it of course), that some others may not be. Some employers might not like earrings on guys, or tattoos at all.

Just remind him to keep it clean, let him know you'll buy any disinfectants he needs, and to genuinely be careful of expanding it with rings (if that's his style), as it wont necessarily recover.

To be fair it's something I'd have imagined was an issue for a father born in 1940s, but not for anyone born after this time?

I got mine pierced "late" when I was 20 while in Uni many moons ago

Got the left one done cuz that was what I thought was cool, but others laughed at me because I was late doing it when most got theirs done in their teens 😂

Dont really see a problem, easily undone and hidden if looking for a job in certain sectors ( not many of them left). If it was a visible neck tattoo he came back with you could have wrote him out of your will 😁.
