Hi i was going 'googling it ' but i said ye know what ill ask the question here first , might get some better information . So i'm living in Cork and my now five year old girl since she was three is constantly getting , come the winter colds , coughs , chest infections ,ear infections , high temperatures etc to such an extent that up to last February she was after being prescribed fourteen antibiotics in the previous eighteen months , plus she got a bout of pneumonia in February . We were waiting to see a Pediatrician at the time but when we pursued it further we were told it would be March 2025 before she could be seen - and this was private , we are still waiting on this . Now we are back to the winter and here we go again - two weeks ago of to the doctor again ,same out come more antibiotics out of school for another week and we were told we will just have to wait as that is the waiting time for a Pediatrician . We have a feeling that her Adenoids are an issue because of her breathing .

Anyway at this stage if we could get to see a Pediatrician else where in Dublin or the East Coast and just pay for it up front . Anyone has had a similar issue or know a Pediatrician in the Dublin area with a shorter waiting time - we cant wait five months

We had something similar with our eldest.

They were hospitalized a few times due to breathing problems.

Eventually they were prescribed montelukast. It's a powder that goes into a yogurt once a day. The way it was described to me was it will fight an infection before their body even realises that there is an infection......what was happening to my child was immune system overreacting and filling the lungs with mucus , the mucus was then pretty much drowning them. Like that lots of antibiotics which lead to hypermineralisation of the adult teeth.

Never looked back after getting on the powder. So might be worth raising it with your GP. I know 2 other kids on it.

Also children do tend to grow out of these things .....best of luck!
