Ordered firewood - not the right weight

False advertising seems a bit of a jump. Probably a different supplier for them, with a slightly different weight. What did they say?

Quite a few queries on what Rathwood ends up supplying on the cheap firewood thread (https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2057650543/seems-like-a-good-deal-on-firewood) tbh.

You'll have to contact them, might take a bit of back and forth. I had no luck dealing with them about the quality of their wood so just gave up and have avoided since but I think others have had some joy dealing with them.

Edit: I thought they always advertised based on volume rather than weight?

Does the total weight include the weight of the pallet?

    From the page you linked:

    • RW Moisture Guarantee - 10%-15% with traceability audit completed daily

    • Weight: 840KG (approx) ← see that?

1.85 m³ as advertised, 1.85m³ delivered. The difference in weight could well be due simply to the "10-15%" variation in moisture. You got exactly what you ordered (possibly even a drier = better batch).

The label states 800kg and the ad says 840kg. Maybe you could make that case if the label said MINIMUM weight 800kg.

I'd be interested in what "Total Weight = 840KG" means. Is it 800kg of logs and 40kg of pallet?

Yeah … but: as mentioned above, firewood is sold by volume because the volume doesn't change. The weight can - and does - change all the time, depending on the moisture content. Fresh out of the kiln, that may well have been 840kg at 15% moisture, which got slightly drier/lighter before someone plonked it on a scales to find out the exact weight.

When you're buying firewood, you want the highest possible volume-to-weight ratio, so for his 800kg/1.85m³ the OP has got more kJ of heat than if he'd bought an extra 40kg of water for the same volume. The main reason for needing to know the weight of a pallet-load is so that you can choose the right trailer to transport it on.

Yep that makes sense. I've had "heavy" wood that sizzled when thrown into fire so extra water is never a good thing. If the 1.85 had been a less then there would be justification to be annoyed!

I Got a reply from company they sent the wrong pallet so they sent 100kg dumpy bag to compensate which is very decent!

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Ab that’s cool .And it’s good to shout about that too - in fairness I’ve dealt with Rathwood a number of times through the years and where I had small issues they addressed them.
