Look at this, then look at what we have running. A billionaire made of steel , then like MOL says, look what happens when you have teachers and jobs for lifers running the place...

A country that thieves fifty cent in the euro, over a pittance, to pay for ten welfare bonuses etc, no military, 2nd World infrastructure, if you're young with no attachments and some ambition, get out of this country...

There's 30 TD's out of 160 that are landlords. Hardly full.

Give SIPO some extra powers and we might find out the real number 😂 I am sure many properties are under the spouses' name.

We had a FF councillor and Senator in Galway (Ollie Crowe) who ran for general election before. He couldn't even remember he owned a pub even though the pub was called Crowes.

Fianna Fáil Senator Ollie Crowe admits he ‘erred’ in failing to mention he owned a popular Galway bar in register of interests | Irish Independent

A Fianna Fáil senator has admitted that he failed to include his ownership of a popular bar in Galway city and a majority shareholding in a company in his declaration of interests as required under ethics legislation.

Ollie Crowe, who has spoken on issues affecting bars and the hospitality industry on dozens of occasions in the Seanad since his election in April 2020, did not declare that he himself owned a pub in the register of Oireachtas members’ interests.

The Galway-based senator was the sole owner of Crowe’s Bar, Bohermore, from 2003 until 2021.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

    It is despite our teachers.

Parental commitment to education is actually the key driver behind our educational success.

We have two types of students in the system, those who have parental support and who will get to their appropriate level no matter what, and those who do not have parental support and who the "excellent" teachers fail to support.

    O'Leary is dead right.

Teachers are probably experts at patiently navigating the trials and tribulations of childhood and young adulthood, and good at fostering development in youngsters (though not all of them are), but politics is the big leagues in comparison. Might have to use different ways to get things done that are alien to a schooling environment. Good chunk of teachers are in it for the good holidays (and more so than ever now with GAA lads going down that path to accommodate the sport).

And he was actually self-depreciating about his own background, calling accountants boring, I don't see the big deal.

SF managed to form an allinance with zero parties in Ireland

They met the Greens long before anyway else

The only reason SF didn’t form a government last time was down to themselves

IMO they seen Covid coming, thought it was a shitstorm and didn’t want to lead. Sit back in opposition, hope the government failed and then mob it up…..didn’t work

They are essential workers, you totally miss olearys, very obvious and valid point. It's typical of here, someone speaks the truth and the country loses its mind...

How many in the Dail, have any real world business experience? You don't think having a balance and more entrepreneurs / business savy people in the Dail, would be a food thing ?

It's funny, it really should say " fcuk taxpayers "...

The "A new energy" tag line is fairly comical.

Simon Harris dropped out of college before completing it and has been a career politician ever since. Has overseen the "development" of the children's hospital that is billions over budget and years late. Helen McEntee was elected on the foot on her father. Has done nothing of note since being Minister. Pascal has been busy making sure his best friends company got million in government contracts and gave him a position board. All the while this best friend gave Pascal some under the table election donations.

    That's quite the energy.

He spoke the truth, that is a big deal in Ireland...

Nobody gives a **** what O Leary said, it's the FG members cheering and egging him on is the issue

No, that was one of several of his pre election campaign videos, I was actually over there when it first aired... I'll tell you what the sattire is, not a single competent person running for the Dail... nobody even talks about value for money for the taxpayers any more or even pretends to give a toss...

You said "how many teachers are running top companies?"

It's the same as asking "how many business owners are teaching kids?"

I understand, I think a mix could be good. But we dont have a mix, we have a landslide of one cohort and zero of the other, that is the problem. It's also exactly why I have no intention of voting... I can vote for the left, the left or some far right comedy options. I want a competent party to vote for, there isn't one unfortunately...

People may laugh at that Trump video, but he builds passion and comfortably won the election...

Just headed over to the journal to see the reaction, landslide majority supporting O'Learys comments ..

That debate on Drivetime was a right mess.

The shinner lad wouldn't tell the housing policies they are proposing because its coming out tomorrow and he couldn't remember a few other things.

    Bacik waffling on about immigration.

Chu was rambling as usual and the FG guy was kinda out of his depth as well.

Jim O Callaghan held his own though.

What is in the link that's relevant rather than dumping it on thread?

In effect, they ran away, scared of taking power in a crisis.

As negotiations for a government will be taking place as Trump is outlining his plans, I won't be surprised to see them run away again.

Shower of clowns shouting over each other on The Tonight Show, it's impossible as a viewer to hear what anyone is saying.

Why would a teacher be a politician running the country ? Would they not be teaching ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

an election is certainly good for social media

Fevk Me but trying to do a bit of mindless scrolling on TikTok and every second one of from SF telling us all how great they are

    Must be spending a fortune

Did you think it was a little contrived? Pre-planned? A pretence?

Naughton and Chambers were previous whips and are normally very mild.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

If it involved FF and FG then it was all pre-planned. They are pretending that they don't like each other to con the public into thinking they are separate parties when they have been in power together and have had all the same policies and backed each other up to the hilt since 2016. They are in essence and single party, the reason they haven't joined is tactical by pretending they are 2 parties they can split the vote from other parties therefore keeping themselves, as we have seen, in government. Who looks at the polls numbers and automatically just adds the FF and FG numbers together?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,199 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Yeah all for show between Naughton and Chambers but it's annoying when you can't hear with them all talking over each other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,210 ✭✭✭Pedro K

Nope. This is not Chambers' first time losing the plot on live TV and shouting over a woman. Look for his appearance on The Claire Byrne show on 2020 general election campaign.

Back then he was roundly criticised and obviously received a tap on the shoulder or some sort of media training. He's managed to keep it mostly in check since then, but last night the mask slipped again. This is who he is. Petulant and shouty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Sure you could say that about most of the TD's, look at Neale Richmond when he is on a show and he just keeps talking over other contributors, Peter Burke was same.

Was only a few weeks ago she sat directly behind him aplauding as he gave his budget speech

Most people see it for what it is, FF and FG playing to the cameras to pretend they are so different
