Have Beko tall fridge freezer, last week or so unusually loud noise from it constantly (from compressor or motor or whatever ot is at the back low down rear of it ) now things less cold, inside temp 13 degrees, thermostat adjustment making no difference, cutting mains no difference either- is this just bad luck? Inside light is on. Is it possible to even get people to look at these re repair? Is mid range, nothing fancy

    Any thoughts or experiences please...?!

The compressor is a sealed unit that should prevent gas escaping, also prevents repairs.

Cheapest tall Fridge Freezer from powercity is €239 , not sure if you'd get a tradesman call out for less.

Is the door seal OK ?

Is the radiator at the back of it hot or warm ?

No idea if thermostat but you can lookup the service manual or parts on line, with a model number.

It's the one appliance in the house I have had to replace twice. In one case after a relatively short period. And that's the way they both went. Extra noisy constantly, and not keeping stuff cold.

There are repair companies / tradespeople who will have a look, for a fee, obviously, but you might be as well off to replace tbh.

Not sure re radiator as just turned it off for 90 mins to see if that might help reset things.

Since turning it back on it is making an occasional clicking sound every 5 mins or so like it is trying to start up again but nothing happening and my loud noisy fridge is now very quiet.... and not back working! FFS 😞

Thanks for the replies, of course the weekly shop due here in a few hours... 🙄

Heh. Weird timing coming across this thread

Have Candy mid size fridge freezer, also 6 years old and this crock has been on its last kegs for the past 12 months!

Contrast that with the Bosch small size fridge in my parents holiday homewhich continues to work as it should ... for the past 42 years.

Keeping food frozen ice cream and other food just right.

Every time I use the Candy freezer I feel like this cooker is taunting me.

EDIT Don't buy a new Candy fridge either

I had a couple of them die on me.

The last time I bought a larder fridge and a separate freezer.

    So far, so good.

If you have the space it might be an option for you.

if it is a frost free fridge unplug it for 24 hours and let it defrost manually, if the door has been left partially open the evaporator will build up too much ice because of the high temperature, this ice will build out against the circulation fan and give the noise you describe
