I will probably vote SF No 1 for the first time for one very simple reason - you're not getting change with these FF/FG freaks. Martin is a has been (and never was much anyway) and Harris is a bit of a joke as a leader.

Funny that you’d label them freaks when you are turning your vote over to a vehicle that looks more like a cult than a party.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,267 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

if you don't think FF and FG are cults then I've news for ya…….

Ah the “I know you are but what am I” style of debate.

If you paid even a smidge of attention to their recent scandals and still are coming out with the patter that they’re the same as everyone else, then you’re either a lifer yourself, a certain personality type or a low information type.

I’d say it’s the second with you. You’d strike me as the type to have got on board with a Trump or Brexit if left to your own devices in the U.S. or U.K. respectively.

Or the recent scandals have hardened the popularity that left them, most of which couldn’t be a hard core anti immigrant right wing vote as it’s like 15% or so ?

I'm not sure hating people for voting against the way you think they should vote is mature.

FYI: FF/FG have been an absolute disaster on housing. Emigration of the Irish people is back to levels not seen since the 1980s as they hand over control of the country to immigrants under instruction from Brussels. Education is a mess. Health similar. Public transport still basically so bad it makes Ireland look third world. Taxes (direct and indirect) are the highest of any EU nation. Energy/Petrol prices are the highest in the EU. Food prices also. The bank bailout (invented by FF), the USC, is still in existence. PRSI increased under FF/FG. Homelessness at a record high.

And sure look at the state of FF/FG. Harris is so talented he dropped out of college twice. Martin has never had a proper job in his life. . . . Neither has Harris for that matter. Totally incapable of leadership.

Wow indeed. A product, which had been in use by DAFM was recalled as a precautionary measure as it did not fully comply with regs.

Result was a cost refund and zero reported adverse incidents in schools. I would view that as the Dept doing its job. But sure if you think there is a scandal here, fire away.

Dublin Central will be interesting. A candidate with known links to criminality, versus Gerry Hutch

I'm not. But if you don't want to clarify fair enough.

Nope- there is an alphabet soup of parties for you to vote for.

I am slating you because you are making claims on “change” and “freaks”. Yet you are talking about voting for SF (the same party that big business described as more New Labour than Corbyn Labour). The same party where with (just one of their scandals) when the Senator finally resigned over texting an underage individual, they were given a glowing send off by the leader.

My guess is Peter that if it were FF or FG had just one of those scandals that it would reinforce the “freak” nature of your description of them. My hunch is that you are the type served up a diet of algorithm mentions of twix bars and Tuam babies.

Lots of buzzwords there “mess”, “third world”. You are on of the “Ireland is a kip” brigade that is ignorant or the world around you.

The fact that you mention “emigration” is like the 1980s suggest a bit it a hard right bent to what you are served up. Dangerously

You have options to vote for change. You could vote for PbP who very much espouse a platform of change all round.

You actively choose not to though. “Change” in your mind is going against the grain a little bit. The thing is you are the type of pub bore who will be droning on about “freaks” and “change” in a few years about someone new if SF got in. You’re that type of person, shallow with an over estimation or yourself.

In terms of housing specifically, did you miss how Ireland built the most per head in Europe last year and have been top 5 for most of the period that this government has been in office?

Of course you did, or possibly you waived it off.

Back to back variations of the same terrible joke. Did you not organise who would post it first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭Choochtown

The scandal is that Foley knew there was an issue on the Tuesday but did nothing about it hoping that no one would find out. She waited for 2 whole days before recalling the product.

She potentially put the health of school children at risk in order to avoid making herself look incompetent.

Her decisions are based on how she'll be viewed by the public not on what's best for our children. Hence the pouches. The Norma Phoney PR campaign re. our youth and phones is in full swing. She (via the media) has the public convinced that students are frantically tik-tokking throughout the school day which is absolute nonsense.

Meanwhile Norma ignores the important issues such as

inflated LC grades (still not sorted after 4 years),

    teacher recruitment,

    school transport,

schools in dangerous states of disrepair,

    lack of SNAs

    special ed places etc etc

much more likely to eat into Mary lou vote than the others in my opinion.

SF has a debt to pay to its islamist backers and will be too busy with that issue to form a government.

NO votes for islamist parties. NO votes for plantation parties.

So all you have on Paschal Donohue is his how he speaks? You must be inspired by Paddy Cosgrave who tweeted similar childish crap last April 🙄

Mod: You should elaborate on who SF's Islamic backers are when you next post in this thread.

Heard on Newstalk yesterday that they're running a second SF candidate in Kildare North. Bizarre.

Absolutely nuts. She's in Naas, where SF showed appalling transfer discipline - they had enough FPV for the last seat and shed it to IndI because they ran three candidates and didn't transfer properly.

All this will do is shave hundreds of votes off Cronin (probably lose ~1k FPV and get 50-60% of it back) when she's already in deep trouble.

Been a constituency of surprises already, the last vaguely predictable one that could yet happen is the SDs split even more - three Councillors went for a contested convention, one of the losers has left and is running against them as an Independent; the other has done virtually no PR work with the candidate at all. Would be hilarious if she also ran Independent.

But that wouldn't really be a surprise if it was predicted of course!

A way of ousting Cronin without the need for a kangaroo. SF cleaning house.

You're a Trump supporter, aren't you? Would SF end the Ukraine war in a day?

Harris did not drop out of college twice! He switched course and then left to pursue a career in politics (didn't your hero Trump also switch course?)

Regardless, him studying property economics or journalism or any other college course would not train him to become a leader so your first cheap dig at him leaving DIT has nothing to do with your second cheap dig (as with your cheap dig towards MM).

Done excellent since he became a politician didn't he

Failed spectacularly as Minister for Health that caused the last Govt to fall and and election be called as he was about to lose a no confidence motion

Was then giving a new make up Ministery in the new Govt and failed to tackle the student accomodation crisis, even going as far as making it worse

I won't even mention the National Children's Hospital or Kids with scoliosis

I'm not going to praise him for his tenure as a poitician but PF was wrong, I suspect deliberately, about him in their previous post!

I paid a ONCE OFF amount for my car. But since paying the ONCE OFF amount, I have had to replace various bits and bobs; oil, oil filters, brake blocks, bulbs, tyres and so on.

That's more or less what will happen with the €9m phone pouches that SF are in favour of in the Six Counties and opposed to in the 26 counties. Some of them will break, some of them will be lost and some of them will wear out or become unusable. And - believe it or not - the Department will need to pay to have them repaired or replaced.

The Minister probably asssumed that she was dealing with intelligent listeners when she answered that question in the Dáil. (In your case, it seems clear that she was mistaken.)

Compared to the perennial opposition politicians he has achieved a lot.

Was it Mary Harney who said that one day in government was worth a year in opposition?

Funny that we remember her and the Progressive Democrats when other small parties have faded to oblivion never achieving anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭harryharry25

He has achieved a lot personally, that's the problem

The parent's of kids with scoliosis know all about it

    she shouldn't have gone.

SF are not supposed to be having anything to do with british customs, we do not do rememberence sunday ETC.

she would have stayed away if she was so concerned about being a first minister for all, something she can never really be.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.
