Interview help please

hi I have an interview next week for a teaching position in a further education college. It’s for 15hours a week

Now realistically I could not afford to leave my present position if it’s only 15 hours so my question is do you think they would be any possibility in negotiating extra hours

And before people ask why I’m leaving a position for less hours it’s a personal thing conditions of the post attract me

Definitely do the interview, even if you think you're not going to take the job if it's offered.

It is possible to ask in the interview if the 15 hours on offer are expected to be all that will be available. Let them know you're serious about the job but you want more hours.

Another thing to consider is the tax implications of reducing hours. I'm currently teaching 11 hours and my pay is much more than half what it was when I was teaching 22 hours. Talk to somebody who fully understand these things (not me, and not a staffroom knowitall) and get the full picture, find out exactly what your take-home pay will be.

hi thanks I’m definitely going and I would just love to teach the subject area. I took a day’s unpaid leave recently and couldn’t believe I was down so little yes your correct about the tax
