Hilarious that the media tried so desperately to push that Puerto Rico joke…

    and no one cared.

Gender laws etc are something that only impacts a tiny number of people and providing support for those tiny number of people. If you agree or disagree with that it is very much a fringe issue. The republicans successfully convinced people that it was about deliberately putting men who were sexual predators in every girls changing room.

Well anyone who has being to the States or has to deal with them on a regular basis knows that they are not very worldly, easily led and have a simple outlook on life…. but they are about to get an education, Just like the BREXITEERS have.

The US just like the UK has a very low productivity rate and like the UK is dependent on cheap labour to operate. So while the Donald will do a lot of shouting about immigration because it wins votes, just like the last time he will do little to fix the problem.

The US economy is consumer driven with an incredible demand for cheap stuff. If The Donald does get around to imposing tariffs then it will blow their economy big time and he'll have to walk them back within say six months.

Now you may have fallen for this nonsense, but thankfully most Europeans have seen rigth true. So enjoy your nightmare.

I'm not that worried about a Trump presidency either. I'd argue that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior or past performance in a similar situation. Expect lots of waffle, angry tweets and drama.

The point about firearms wasn’t made to you, it was made to the poster who said it. You know, the one I quoted immediately b before saying it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,390 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    lol.
    Pay closer attention.

You literally have female democrats saying the reason they switched was because they could vote for a women.

If democrats lose votes for fielding a women, republicans lose as many and more. A female is getting Nowhere near the GOP nomination

The first female president will be a VP who gets in when a president dies in office.

This time he has specifically called out Ireland as benefitting from the current arrangement.

    Exactly.

Stupid americans not voting for Kamala. So what if the last 4 years have been hard and you aren't motivated or energised by your party that have been in charge.

You're so stupid and sexist and racist if you don't do what I want you to do!!!

    Who's the fascist again?

Completely agree it's a fringe issue that doesn't impact many but like the men in women's sports thing - it speaks to their mindset and then allows them impact issues much greater - like immigration.

Anyone who allows men to compete in women's sports or supports it is simply mental IMHO and doesn't matter what else they do or say they should have no power and be disregarded immediatey. Like flat earthers.

Then why bring it up again?

Guns would be a centrist issue in America.

    As would sensible gun laws.

    The irony....

You Might want to have a look at your own sources of information or propaganda as you put it.

"We'll have to call them out more" yep that's deffo sounds like a plan, hysterical posting and name calling with people who have different views.Thats exactly what put Trump in the WH in 2016 and again today.

Democrats need to ease off on the identity politics and other sh1te the majority of people don't care about and start focusing on the main issues.

From day 1 in this election that was cost of living and immigration.Trump is seen as stronger on both (without much substance imo) but he was always going to win by this simple metric.

I posted the same thing several times over the last year.

Initiating an insurrection to overturn an election result because you dont like it = Facism

Continuing to disagree and voicing your disagreement even after you have lost an election and accepted the result =/= Facism

last time was disorganised chaos. this time it will be highly organised chaos. he has the supreme court where he wants it now too, straight out to bat. and they've lined up a whole load of policy changes which they had not prepared for last time.

You guys said the same thing when he was on about Tarriffs in his last term. Guess what? Joe Biden kept the tarriffs!

The markets are soaring. The USD is soaring. The money men think Trump will be great for the economy.

This is someone who has NO idea how America works.
‘Being” someone who lives here, what you say above is utter rubbish.
Your “analysis” is flawed on so many levels.
As a moderator it is rather indicative of Boards how biased against a whole population of people you are.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I think what got me throughout was how some people thought shock horror Trump is actually doing ok in the polls- they couldn’t get their head around that.

And that’s where people should have taken a step back - but they didn’t - and the Dems especially doubled down on the shock horror and went into lecture mode- whilst all along the mantra coming from the people was clearly “that’s all very well Harris but what are you going to do??”

Beyond her core policies that were essentially Bidens policies, she couldn’t answer that -she had not a singular fresh idea that made her stand out as a new fresh presidential candidate - and that hurt her greatly - and by September I think people copped on that what you saw you got- and no more - and that didn’t please them .

I’ve never blamed her in that I do think the deck was stacked against her from the off- too little time for her to become viewed as an “independent” Democrat candidate - she brought Bidens suitcase dragging it behind her - that’s essentially what the public saw.

Had she been more articulate and maybe more imaginative in what her presidency would do and achieve, I think she would have got there - there wasn’t a whole lot wrong with her (and certainly not compared to Clinton) - but obviously it just wasn’t enough to convince - I certainly wasn’t inspired by her - “but Trump” just didn’t work as a proper response and grew tiresome very quickly

Trumps support by latinos has soared compared to 2020.

Those saying the joke was a turning point couldn't have been more wrong.

Saw a democrat strategist say today "White men without college degrees are going to ruin this country"

She's a democrat strategist and doesn't seem to understand that it's actually people like her who are the problem and who are holding the democrats back , people like her who have nothing but contempt for a large portion of voters and their families.

They might be centre-right if your comparing politics to 70s Europe. But the left wing niche now is occupied by Blairite/Clintonite ideology.

For Harris not to out perform Biden in any county is embarrassing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,061 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

These threads today are much busier in support of Trump than they have been for 4 years, that's understandable, a lot of people posting today who we haven't seen in here for years, if ever. Which is fine, I get it, but right up until last week, I and many more have asked what it was about Trump that made them look at him and say he should be President and very few, if any gave anything like a cogent answer.

Donald Trump is racist, sexist and demonstrably ignorant of many things (science/climate/tariffs etc).

And this has been on full display, like full full display for 5 years. No one can claim ignorance in that respect. So for people to look at that and decide that they want that person to lead the country, it is absolutely within reason for others to look on people who selected that in a particular way.

You don't get to be silent as to what is it about a someone like Donald and then get annoyed when people assume that the values he possesses are values you yourself hold.

Tell us what it is that you specifically admire about him or what abilities you think he has and let that be challenged or not. This practice here today of people still not wanting to be associated with the traits he possesses should be telling, but this is where we are now.

They don't have a strong constitution, next to the Brits unwritten flexible constitution it is as week as it can be. Unlike Ireland or Switzerland their constitution makes the legislature sovereign and even worse it fails to implement the separation of powers properly by make all branches political. Everything in the UK and the US is dependent on everyone being on their best behaviour and acting in the best interests of the country. And that has not been the case for sometime now. Just as we saw with Boris's abuse of the King's Prerogative in the UK, we are likely to see the abuse of Executive power in the US. The big difference is all the nutters who are tooled up and believe they have a right to oppose an unjust government….

    Where did I say that?

But when you dont want to engage in a point you instead resort to attempts at ridicule

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,127 ✭✭✭MrMusician18

On the one hand you could see how Puerto rican voters could be offended, then at the same time those same people did leave Puerto Rico because it was bad/lacked opportunity and may not be that positive about it.

That or they didn't care, most likely.

Maybe good for the economy but potentially a disaster for efforts to address the climate crisis.
