If the introspection you are looking for is feeling regret for not wanting a lying, cheating, sexual assaulting, criminal conspiring, fraud committing, felon to be the holder of the most influential office on the planet, and making sure that people who wanted to ignore those facts couldn't do so, you absolutely will not find it here.

I feel entirely comfortable at how this has played out. Absolutely, categorically wish that Trump had lost, but I don't for a second feel or wish that I or anyone else who is informed on the topic should have spoken differently just to appeal to people who refused to see him for what he is.

2016 was on Hillary for respecting the electorate enough, this is on the electorate for not seeing him for what he is. That is absolutely the case here.

As I said here in recent weeks, the 'Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me' proverb applies here in full force.

I do of course feel sorry for all the people who saw what they could have in Harris as a counter to Trump, but have to live with the fact that their compatriots were fine with that.

Spare a thought for Grover Cleveland this morning.

The one thing he had of note and now it's been taken away from him.

Interestingly in Arizona they approved by 63% an amendment enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution, (NBC News projects.)

But even then that didn’t stop them from turning around and voting for Trump

It's people like you who are the reason Trump won/Harris lost (if that is confirmed).

Tell me which part of this is false.

Trump is a lying, cheating, sexual assaulting, fraud committing, criminal conspiracy planning felon who failed to perform the role as it should be done when he last held it. And Harris is a highly qualified and experienced candidate who is part of a very successful administration.

Because that is my view, and that is what I have been saying on here and in real life. And not for a micro-second will I regret not having pandered to those who refused to see what was available to them to select the former option once again over the latter. Not a micro-second.

    What a bonkers country

Basically comes down to a lot of people not liking Harris, even on the democratic side

Well said- these posts are refreshing to see after all this time . And it’s interesting to note neither you, me or most other people who had criticisms of the Dems throughout are now posting “well done Trump”- we’re not.
But it won’t stop their name calling - they can’t help it.

Any betting odds on how many times he will be impeached this time ?

The sheer arrogance of people calling a whole country "stupid/racist/misogynist" because the person they preferred didn't get elected.

It's that attitude which is a carbon coby of the vocal democratic base in America that turns regular people against them.

You can make your point without alienating people who may disagree with you.

Attitudes like that are what gave Trump his victory. Well done guys.

I have friends there who voted for Trump because they don't want to have to fund a social welfare system and healthcare system, as they feel they already pay too much out of their salaries as it is. I think the American dream is fast becoming the American nightmare and life is just gonna keep getting tougher. I think thats the way of the world, harsher, tougher, less to go around and people will vote for whoever they feel have their interests at heart

According to US swimmer Riley Gaines one of his first priorities will be to get Title IX back on the rails.

"Bad news for Ireland, a republican clean sweep makes corporation tax reform more likely."

Yep. Irish people supporting the Republicans is like slugs supporting salt.

Some fall off in Democrat party support in the likes of NY and NJ and Illinois.

    Staggering in fact.

Plus the large uptick for Republicans in FL and TX.

Don't forget also, Republicans are on for a very big Senate majority and probably majority in the House as well.

I'm looking out for State level results next.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

He is some man. I had him backed but lost faith when they started doing/saying silly things. I have no fear of him really. All bark. He won't be in charge.

America are full of stupid people but they certainly didn't want a woman in charge.

Delighted it's over. It gets way too much coverage. And too many RTE folks over there spending my tax!!

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Well the people have spoken. Obviously fed up of the democrats, msm and their lies. The worst thing you can do to an electorate is sneer and laugh at them.

Hoepfully we will have the courage to vote out FFG and follow Americas lead.

Yeah, people will be calling the majority of US voters fascists, racists, sexists yet they'll still go on holidays or buy US products and loads of minorities vote for Trump.

    @Oscar_Madison

Because as usual ye are just fudging around what you actual want.

Ye got what ye wanted but now to slither away from the consequences ye deserve ye are trying to blame democrats for the mess ye made.

Democrats have been in the White House for 12 of the last 16 years buddy.

I haven’t seen the clip. I’m just pointing out that you can be staunchly pro-life, and also believe that it shouldn’t be decided on a state level. They are two separate things entirely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,245 ✭✭✭Yvonne007

I said from the get-go that I thought both were dreadful candidates.

It's really non-stop with people who share your attitude.

The democrats and attitudes like that handed the election to Trump.

Perhaps instead of telling people who tried to warn you to slither away, you should take the next four years to reflect on how you treat others who don't exactly align with your views.

Ive already said Trump is a scumbag.

However Harris is not likeable and it's a popularity contest which means it's difficult to win if you don't take that into consideration when selecting a candidate.

If the Democrats have the same condescending and superior attitude you have then they'll struggle to win Presidential elections.

"I voted for the good guy, she may not have won but I still won because my ethics remain intact" seems to be your attitude.

A strong rejection of the far left agenda.

No to men in women sports, men in women changing rooms etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,086 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

or Trump fans could just grow up and be adults and just own their decision. Stop trying to blame others for their choice. Novel idea granted but if they want to be treated like adults they need to behave like one.

They voted Trump because they wanted Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,859 ✭✭✭Real Donald Trump

Well I for one am certainly pleased with the results

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Repo101

I would say it's far less about Clinton and Harris being women and more about their whole campaign being about Trump. Harris was the wrong choice and the decision by key Democrats has cost them the election. Harris is utterly uninspiring.

Far from over I’m afraid, expect every news headline from RTE for the next 4 years to lead with Trump. Trump headlines, Trump jokes, Trump memes, Trump gaffs, Trump warnings and on and on.

Just like Donald is now going to solve the Ukraine Russia war within 24 hours right?

Clever word play may win debates, but it doesn't make it true.

Understanding and explaining things, is not the same as justifying them, if in doubt… please re-read this statement.
