Too tired to deal with any more of it. Dreading what the world may be facing in the early hours of the morning.

exactly. We really won’t have a proper sense of things for at least a few hours yet. And maybe much longer than that.

can't find the video now, but I remember seeing a 'pop science' or maybe john oliver / similar commentator youtube video explaining how theres bills / laws being passed in some states to make their Electoral College vote the same way the popular vote goes. I think I remember it would take 34 states to vote this way, and then it would be guaranteed the popular vote winner would win the presidency, I think states are passing the law with the proviso 'this bill only comes into effect if 33 other states vote in similar laws' or similar.

(wish i could find the video now…)

So far so good for Trump.

Any Harris supporters can make a lot of money if they they think she is going to win.

She is now 12/1 on PP.

A wonderful thing to wake up to.

As a Trump supporter is it not a bit early to go that far. I hope you're right.

No point in blaming Trump for other candidates failures.

USA really is a different planet isn't it .??

WI seems to be quite heavy leaning to Trump at the moment.
    PA the same.

Harris is losing ground by 2/3% on Bidens tally in 2020.

Blue Wall is crumbling. I predicted a Trump win, but this isn’t even going to be close anymore. Terrible night

Harris did EXACTLY what Clinton did. They wheeled out all the celebrities. When will the Dems EVER learn that this is a disaster? You're going to wheel out basically the metropolitan liberal elite to tell people who are hurting how they should vote? Really?

They got what they deserved (again).

So did Trump, or what do you think Musk and Joe Rogan are or were doing?

Harris couldn't have done any different, she ran as good a campaign as could have been expected of her. She'll carry the can for eternity for having lost, but I don't think she did much if anything wrong.

What Trump is is on full display, and America have chosen that, so be it.

an awful result, but America deserves him.

Poor Ukraine will be walked all over now.

And so it is, I am indeed re-reading the above thinking 'If only'.

I actually feel pretty good as one of the Left leaning people who were very interested in this race. I don't think they could have done much more to influence people, this was nothing like 2016 where there was excessive and unjustified confidence, the people just didn't want to hear it.

I am coming late to the party her so forgive me, but I would like to know why so many Irish people (living in Ireland) support Trump, despite the fact that almost all economic experts here have said a Trump victory would be bad for our economy (because of the tariffs he intends to impose) and a Democratic win would be more in our interests?

I have seen a lot of them on social media. Are they just trolls or are the economic experts wrong?

Israel have free reign to finish off the remnants of Hamas and Hezbollah now. That's the only positive i can see from the second coming of Trump to the White House.

They appeared to have free reign under Biden anyway.

That's it. Ukraine is toast, Palestinians will be wiped out and yeah. Was not expecting that.

Lets be honest, Palestine never had a chance.

Ukraine will be interesting though, the EU might step up, though I wouldn't hold my breath

I just couldn’t see Kamala getting voted in as the first female president, she wasn’t convincing, imo seemed a little bit irritating. Didn’t have the personality. Democrats need to go out now and find and develop a very strong candidate for 2028. Biden stayed on too long.

Worrying times economically for Europe now.

I think you'll find that the overwhelming majority of the Irish population think he's a dangerous idiot.

You're just going to get a bit of pro-Trump noise on here today given how things are moving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,126 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

The Democrats had better candidates. They needed an attack dog but the usual bullshit ruled over and here we are.

Being conservative, pleased that Mr. Trump won. However, he will have a large task ahead of him to fix elements of the US economy and the more fraught international climate than his prior term. Given his constant demonisation by the press, it is unlikely that he will attract much bi-partisan support.

Any ideas on the impact in terms of his legal jeopardy?

Presumably he appoints people to make any of the federal stuff go away and the state level goes on pause while he's sitting?
