JD Vance at this final rally before the election. "We're going to take out the trash in Washington DC, and the trash's name, is Kamala Harris"

As soon as the election is over, if Harris wins, conservative media is going to spend from now until Christmas saying that she needs to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans in the same way they did and have done with Biden for 4 years.

At the same rally, visible in the crowd behind Vance is someone who was charged/tried/convicted/jailed for her role in Jan 6th.

Nah they will be saying there needs to be a revolution. Trump will flee the country ASAP. ( I could be wrong on that .. he is stubborn)

But i have a sinking feeling that trump is going to win..

I hope im wrong but it will be close anyway. Im clocking off now. I cant watch!

Here is a pretty long video, warning. But it's probably a nice one to have on and have a warm cup of coffee/tea/cocoa to while we wait out results in the next day.

This channel on youtube is Jubilee, first showed up in my algorithm in the last week: it hosts a show format called Surrounded, of 1 person against 25 skeptics they argue against. The first video I saw of there's was some unfamiliar liberal against 25 conservatives - it was kind of a mess, it was '1 woke teen vs 25 Trump supporters,' a lot of them were not there for a constructive debate, one woman even made a point of trying to interrupt him whenever he opened his mouth, really just being a dick. Maybe one or two positive interactions came out of nearly 2 hours of that. Another of theirs which got an inordinate amount of views was Ben Shapiro vs. 25 Harris Supporters. I haven't watched that, don't know if I will, Shapiro is too much of a spoofer.

This here is Pete Buttigieg vs. 25 Undecided Michigan Voters, and it is far more cordial even though there is a healthy amount of disagreement. I think a lot of that has to do with Pete and his oration though.

The basic format is 15 minutes per the lone person's 'claim' and people can take turns in the circle debating the point. The other 24 have red-flags they can raise, when a majority (13) of the flags are raised, the timer is stopped and the other debater has to give up the seat. The person can also give up the seat when they want to instead. There was a lot of flags that went up for the 'woke teen' episode, not nearly so many here.

    Pete's claims:

    • Donald Trump is only running for president for himself, Kamala Harris is running to make your life better,
    • The economy will be better off under Kamala Harris,
    • Americans will have more rights and freedoms under a Harris-Walz administration,
    • Crime will continue to go down if we elect a career prosecutor over a convicted criminal.

More than oration and civilities, it's interesting to see how Pete's experience has led to him having some very out of the box thinking: on reducing crime rates for example, his experience with infrastructure appears to have informed him there is a glaring correlation between crime rates and lead municipal pipes — lead poisoning is causing issues that lead to higher instances of those affected running into trouble with the law, you can imagine for all sorts of reasons. This is evidently a well studied scientific theory that many studies support. It's Pete's contention for example that, while it's "not sexy" to fix lead pipes, it is a potentially very tangible, long term effective way in which government can reduce crime rates (but because it's not sexy it's hard to stump for on the campaign trail).

After watching this I came away with the conclusion that he's a far more eloquent person than even Barrack Obama was/is. Obama users a lot of filler words when he's ad libbing for example ('uh uh uh… now look'). Pete practices the art of talking to people who don't necessarily agree with him every day for at least the past few years. It's really something to watch his style. Obama would throw in a lot of rhetorical anecdotes that might make a person feel stupid, whereas Pete takes a much more empathetic approach which is real easy for the listener across the table to grapple with.

In a few years, maybe 8 😁, with more grey hairs, I think he will take a real solid shot at the Presidency, perhaps especially now that the Republicans maybe in the last few cycles are beginning, begrudgingly, to wise up to the fact their anti-LGBTQ positions aren't election winners.

In the end, Pete does change some voters' mind, spoiler warning:

    image.png image.png

And if uh, an hour, isn't up to your speed: I'd like to throw back to this special animated short from 2020 as a Happy Election Day!, because my goodness so little has changed, which is to say, the list of things Trump has done has only gotten longer and worse, such as the insurrection, the stolen classified documents (you might notice a classified documents reference anyway), getting convicted on 34 counts of fraud, the epstein tapes, etc. (And some of the stuff he's been repeating even, like calling Jewish democratic voters 'disloyal')

(Homer is also an undecided voter)

I don't wanna wait all week again to know who won…

Trump will flee the country ASAP. ( I could be wrong on that .. he is stubborn)

Even if he wanted to, there is no practical means to, the US Secret Service is the world's most expensive (and protective) ankle monitor.

He hasn't a clue just like the rest of us. My Guess and it's only that is that Trump will take the Electoral College. Harris will be lucky to win what she needs to in the swing States. It is by no means a dead cert for Trump, but neither is it for Harris. The media will have you believe that Harris has this, they did the same with Clinton. It's near on 50/50 that any one of them will be President Elect. Again like all the others it's just my guess and nobody will know until the voters have voted and the votes counted.

    Joe Rogan endorses Donald Trump.

Pretty late in the day for ol Joe to do that. I’m sure his listener base will be swayed by this, of course.

I think it's unfair to say he hasn't a clue.

He has been in political environments all his life and no doubt has an ear close to the ground in terms of media and other contacts that he can pick up titbits of information from time to time. Even without any potential contacts, I'd say someone with that experience can 'sense things' about how a campaign has gone.

I'm not saying he knows definitively, but his finger is likely significantly closer to the pulse than all of ours are.

Never ceases to amaze me how easily influenced people are by these meaningless celeb endorsements.... Like, are you not mentally capable of making your own mind up??

"Who do these celebrities think they are?? Fake, phony, elitist frauds. Living in their ivory towers. Dictating morals to the public. They make me absolutely sic-OMG ROGAN JUST ENDORSED TRUMP!"

You were talking pony. It’s incredibly close. It’s a guess from anyone and not an educated one at this stage. Hence the LOL. Made me laugh of a Tuesday morning though and I thank you for that.

Do you genuinely believe that Trump would be better for the people of Palestine than Harris?

Explain the shift in the iowa and kansas polls? And how that affects the race in general

Some posters here think it should be allowed for these guys to intimidate at polling stations, pretty undemocratic to have the 'brownshirts' back.

Think the Venn diagram of Trump voters and people who think Joe rogan is a skill journalist is a circle

    Bit anxious now.

I think he makes a very good point about the pollsters, and I suspect he is right. It seems highly unlikely that the race is as close as the polls indicate.

It seems much more plausible that pollsters are overweighting their polls to arrive at findings at which they can essentially sit on the fence and say "We don't know".

If it turns out to be very close then fine, but if Rory Stewart is right and Harris is further ahead than the polls suggest it will be another very bad result for the pollsters.

It's not just this thread. If you were to read the Irish media, Trump is the second coming of Hitler and will end democracy in America. All absolute horse sh!t. Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of American politics would know that the presidency is just one branch of the executive. The whole constitution is designed to put checks on personal power and it won't be any different for Trump.

With that said though, I am very much rooting for Harris. If Trump gets in, he will end our corporate tax shenanigans. That would be very bad for Ireland.

I think Kamala will win, but I can't help thinking that maybe 4 more years of Trump, 4 years of unrestrained chaos, the consequences of tarrifs and destruction of the civil service/schools/immigrants and whatever else his crew run free with, is needed to jolt the country into some sort of awareness. If he loses there is a good chance he will become a martyr, St. Trump who was so badly treated, and it will rumble on for years.

5,200,000 views for Elon Musk on Joe Rogan in 10 hours. Amazing how much reach that show has. They were talking how a Harris win will result in states being flooded with immigrants and America being under the rule of a dictatorship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,042 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

I hope I am wrong but - If the polls are as close as they appear - my gut is telling me Harris will get the popular vote but Trump will get over the line at the electoral college.

Anyone else’s twitter feed full of pro trump right wing propagandists atm?

I obviously don't agree with the embassy stunt by Trump but that is not the same as providing $27 billion to murder babies, nevermind bomb Yemen, support exploding pagers used by the political wing of Hezbollah (an established war crime), assist in attacking Iran, etc.

The current crop are probably the most despicable since Vietnam, maybe even more so given the cold war is over.

The judicial system hasn't even caught up with Trump for his conduct last time round, when he had lost the election.

The constitution won't stop him if he just ignores it, surrounds himself with amoral MAGA stooges in the Justice department etc and relies on his Supreme Court picks to keep kicking to touch for him. They've already given him wiggle room to do anything and cite Presidential immunity.

Something that should be obvious to anybody who was paying attention these last 4 years and (in your words): "Anybody with even a cursory knowledge of American politics would know."

"To follow knowledge like a sinking star..." (Tennyson's Ulysses)

Musk and Rogan telling us it’s the last time Americans will ever vote if Trump doesn’t get in

Two absolute numpties yet millions will be swayed.

Yes. So does the Palestinian working in Hollywood I linked, she pretty well sums up my feelings on Kamala and Trump. If Kamala wasn't the puppet of genocidal maniacs, and Gaza/ Ukraine were not happening, I would be saying, about time, a woman president, fantastic.
