I think America deserves Trump right now - they’ve had all the warnings needed and they’ve ignored them all - it’s likely Trump will landslide this election - in some respects I think that’s better than Trump losing by a small margin - they’ll do 4 years of absolute nonsense at which point many Americans will realise just what idiocy they were sold and hopefully a bit of common sense will then come into play.

I think Americans are afraid and are running away from reality - people naturally move away from pain and towards pleasure - Trump has promised only pleasure

There's a lot of tea leaf reading going on with the early voting, but listening to some proper campaign strategists , who analyses them like Tom Bonier, there's a good few positive signs for Harris in the battlegrounds.

    This is one of them;

    20241031_181228.jpg

That's a massive gender gap that even will be hard to close on election day for trump. And we also know that it's near certain a sizeable majority of women are voting for Harris.

Add to this, there's been much more republicans voting in the early vote than 2020 because GOP and Trump are pushing them to, compared to the opposite in 2020. However going by registrations according to Bonier, most republicans who've voted , voted on election day in 2020..so the GOP are cannibalising quite a lot of their election day vote. On the other hand majority of the dems voters are new voters or usual early voters.

Finally, and this should be taken with a grain of salt, but across several polls recently they've asked participants if they've voted in the early vote. Harris has some large leads in the battlegrounds going by this, even though registered republicans and dems numbers who've cast a vote are close in some of the states. If these figures are accurate enough and its a big IF, it means Harris is taking a majority of independent voters and also a quite a few registered republicans are voting for her too.

I was listening to The Hard Shoulder on Newstalk earlier and they interviewed Karl Deeter, and they referred to this Tweet.

It was a great interview, he was very rational and made a lot of sense. People should have a listen to it. I'll link the podcast when it goes up. Never mind, it's up already.

Nothing, but since he is known for not paying people half the time, he really is not a friend of the common man. On top of that, cutting federal funding will hit garbage workers as much as anyone else.

Riding alongside the success Trump had with getting SCOTUS to rescind a previous SCOTUS ruling which was of benefit to women and their health, the Roe V Wade ruling, he comes along with another bid to control women "I will protect women whether they like it or not".

Now that [given that Trump is using it as part of his election campaign] sounds like coercive control to me. Step aside, paternalism and misogyny, there's a new kid on the block.

He will end the war by kneecapping Ukraine and forcing them to cede more land to Russia. Hardly the great negotiator is he?

And the rest if it seems purely driven by opinion/bias.

Ukraine unfortunately is losing ground lately - it needs more troops and more weapons -even the drip drip of support is drying up - I don’t believe there was ever a serious intention to supply Ukraine with the support necessary to defeat Russia - it’s no wonder Trump promises to end the war - they won’t have choice in a few months time

Trump knows what's best for women

    Rape. Harassment. Misogyny.

    The mortgage brooker lad?

He is entitled to his opinion, but why should anyone put any sort of weight into it?

Deeter is a die hard Republican, he should stick to his field of economic rather than politics.

Next they'll have Gary Lineker on to discuss Rembrandt and the Dutch masters.

His source and evidence : just his opinion, vibes and what he wants to happen. Worthless

4 more years of Trump wont wake anyone up to anything, people know what he is already and they're still willing to elect him again.

Common sense has left the building forever in America I fear, Trump has changed the game…where lying is normal, making things up is normal, facts don't matter, whats true doesn't matter…but another four years of Trump or what he'll do if he gets back in isn't the scary thing, the real scary thing is what comes after him…because someone with seriously bad intentions is going to build on what he created and then you'll see the real impact of voting in Trump.

I dunno - money talks - if big business feel Trump is sending the country down the toilet they’ll speak out and more importantly withhold funding

Regardless of what happens there in the short term, it’s still dishonest to claim that Trump will end the war, as if he’ll get Putin to accept terms that nobody else could get him to accept, or be the broker of peace between the two.

He will pull support from Ukraine, that’s it - and to favour a regime that’s been meddling in US affairs for decades.

Would you stop? Did you even listen to it? He said he's voted Democrat most of his life and he's a registered Democrat.

And your comparison of him to Gary Lineker is plain stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,339 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

he is currently speaking at a rally full of Hispanics and they are cheering along to him saying he is going have the biggest mass deportation in history…..likely that those who are being deported are going to be friends and family members….. yet still they cheer…. Because “migrants are poising the blood, they have bad genes”

Your link says he moved to Ireland at age 11 and doesn't say anything about him being a Democrat.

The West would want to be fair stupid to abandon Ukraine now, as Putttin has to beg that nutter in Korea for more meat for the grinder.

North Korean troops fighting in Europe should be the wake up call they all need.

If it works so well, tell me this. Why hasn't there been any constitutional amendments in 30 years nor any meaningful ones in 50 years. Why is it that reproductive rights advocates didn't push for an amendment and chose the judicial branch to get them? Why didnt those that opposed them push for an amendment, and now that it's been overturned and why now is their no campaign for an amendment to restore those rights?

The US constitution is written so it's completely hostage to the status quo - with no serious attempts at reform in 60-70 years. Is it because it's perfect? Or is it just impossible to amend these days?

The latter is why the US needs some introspection and to undertake massive constutional reform. That's if it wants to continue to exist.

If things don't change, and while Trump might not be successful this time, the US is only one election away from another "threat to democracy".

I don’t think Americans actually give a sh1t about Ukraine and most probably don’t even know where it is

Thanks, that was a good interview, and Deeter laid out his points well and debunked the presenters many attacks.

The presenter was your typical emotional, biased and rude media type.

Trump is a racist, misogynist, how can anyone vote for him.

Too many of the journalists in this country are completely biased and opinionated, their job is to be objective but they arent.

Its very sad, is it any wonder people have so little faith in the mainstream media.

Yes I did actually, and as described in his wiki

'financial commentator, media pundit and business journalist'

    No politics credentials whatsoever

As the Washington Post reports Trump seeks to curtail legal immigraton too.

And at the racist MSG rally the declaration was America for Americans only.

Mirrors what I have been hearing. Women and Abortion are going to be the deciding factor and it will not favour Trump the proud abortion banner.

Trump is clearly deeply worried by this given his most recent comments on Women.
