Well, sentencing in the criminal fraud case is next month…

And Aileen Cannon's dimissal of the documents case is already waiting up on appeal and likely to be remanded back down as an illogical effort to politically protect Trump from an open and shut federal prosecution in exchange for a promotion to Attorney General or the Supreme Court (which if he loses, is no longer on the table).

But years of deprogramming? Absolutely. There will be more 'JFK coming back from the dead' level of crazy coping mechanisms along with Trump filing papers to run for President again and again and again

What I think ultimately is that the US constitution is completely unfit for purpose and that a new one will be required. This will have to allow for further State independence and limit the federal governments role largely to military and foreign affairs.

I've always been curious about how so many Americans hold the opposing views that 'America' is the greatest country on the planet and that they should regress to more and more state control.

In todays world, co-operation and collaboration is the path forward. The alternative is division, competition and isolation which leads to acrimony and tension.

I'm not saying the constitution is perfect, God no, but looking to compartmentalize sections of America will ultimately lead to worse times I feel. Blue States (and some Red) which already dominate GDP will no longer paint over the poor performing weaker states and if they have to fend for themselves to a significantly greater degree, it would be very difficult for a long time I feel.

The UK is in the process of learning just what it means to step out of a collaborating group in an attempt to stand on your own but somehow enjoy all the same benefits, and it is not going great for them.

America is fucked if he gets in.

No, just no. There will never be a new constitution as long as the united states exists, its the very foundation of the country. And the overwhelming majority of Americans wouldn't want to get rid of it anyway. Imagine trying to come up with a new one, it would be complete chaos. I think you're underestimating how highly it is viewed by most people, from all sides. Obviously in its original form it wasn't perfect but that's what amendments are for.

yet we have a few folks here telling us that the jokes at MSG weren’t to be taken seriously and to move on. Try again.

I am implacably opposed to his views on Russia and Ukraine. He would abandon Ukraine to the Russian dictatorship. He wrongly claims that the US has given €300 bn to Ukraine. That is flat out not true. The entire US defence spending per year on everything defence-related both inside the US and for aid to allies is $800bn. For 9 months he and Mike Johnson starved Ukraine of aid, and that was responsible for the fall of Bakhmut and Avdivvka. Not only is Ukraine threatened by a Trump presidency, but I am concerned he may lift sanctions on Russia, refilling Putin's war chest. I think many Republican voters do not appreciate the dangers of returning to the pre-Pearl Harbour isolationist policy.

I think the US is in danger of repeating the oligarchism of Russia. Like the Russian oligarchs these pro Trump billionaires may think they will be in control. Trump is offering them jobs like government efficiency. But we saw what happened to Mikhail Khordokovsky when he crossed Putin - he was put in jail and his oil company Yukos - then the largest oil company in the world - was nationalised and turned into Rosneft, which is controlled by Igor Sechin, one of the new ex KGB state oligarchs Putin has created. If Trump turns America into a dictatorship, will this happen to the billionaires who oppose him, or - like Russia - will they just do what he says out of fear?

We are already seeing warning signs that some billionaires are bending the knee to him. Such as the Washington Post owner not allowing a Harris endorsement that had been drafted.

    What suggests Kamala will win

    • Very strong collective message in her favour from all noteworthy Democrats
    • Huge number of Trump era officials who are supporting her
    • Early voting turnout suggests people are motivated to get out and vote
    • Prominent messaging from 'Republicans for Harris'
    • The Madison Square Garden Nazi Rally was too brazen and too public for people to ignore
    • Very popular VP candidate
    • 0 negative impacting stories against her since she got on ticket
    • 0 evidence of widespread defections within key demographics to Trump

    What suggests Trump will win

    • Polymarket bet trends
    • Polls suggesting it is close

And still, I'm hesitant to call it because the memories of 2016 are strong and painful and I don't think anyone expects Trump to accept defeat if there's even a semblance of a chance he can have his crooks in various locations help him out.

Trump says he wants to protect women. He was talking in the context of immigration but because it's Trump it just comes across creepy. Also what's with colour of his face? It's looking more silly with each day.

More and more seems to be pointing towards a Harris win next week.

This also explains why the Trump side seems focussed on preparing to steal the election.

Clever word play may win debates, but it doesn't make it true.

Understanding and explaining things, is not the same as justifying them, if in doubt… please re-read this statement.

That clip of trump struggling to open the door is doing the rounds. Even hannity played it.

Compare and contrast, as this video does, with Biden a few days ago.

As a thought exercise, imagine if the situation was the other way around. It would have been an election ending moment for Biden without a doubt.

Couple this episode of Trump's with his refusal to hand over this medical records and one can't help but wonder what they are hiding.

No sure the garbage stunt is a gotcha, all I see on my twitter feed is him nearly stumbling and missing the door handle. More evidence of decline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭CliffHangeroner

The garbage stunt is everywhere on social media and news feeds this morning. Democrats look like they are panicking now with days to go. They are failing to make Kamala relevant it's a real bad look for them especially the PR people.

I don't think the garbage truck is gonna affect the outcome of the election, the Puerto Rico joke might.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭Cody montana

Yeah. Why isn’t Kamala riding around in a garbage truck and stumbling about the place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,030 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

The Garbage truck was a massive mis-step.

The clip of him stumbling like a drunk while opening the door is everywhere on social media.

And that aside, the symbolism is of him transporting trash, it's a metaphor for being all that he brings to the table.

His campaign started in 2016 with images of his Trump emblazoned plane, final days of his 2024 campaign, and HIS campaign has created the images of him in a garbage truck. Stupidest thing they've done since Sunday.

Not a shoo in, but I'm confident there are less deplorables and racists than trump thinks (and centrists on here) in America.

He also pulled out of one of the biggest college football games of the year. SAD

Nikey Haley has effectively endorsed Harris. Openly stated that Trump hasn't got the character to be President.

    Thats 4million Trump votes gone.

Saw someone say that she left the door open until recently for him to use her on his campaign and to tell her supporters to vote for him, but he couldn't let the grudge go that he holds since she talked negatively about him during the primaries.

She's still in with a shot for a future Republican nominee run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭CliffHangeroner

Going to be a nerve wrecking last few days for sure especially for those heavily invested.. Two awful awful candidates going at it tooth and nail for America's heart and soul whilst the rest of the world sit back and laugh.

Honestly, I can't imagine Trump running at all, and I have a pretty good imagination.

    Blah, blah, blah.

Keep telling yourself that. Harris is supremely qualified and has presented very well during the campaign. The idea of her calm, measured assuredness in the office rather than that buffoon is very appealing.

Bibi, Vlad, Nigel, Viktor et al will all be very disappointed if Trump loses, that's an added bonus for me if it does play out that way.
