I think there's only one solution, as supporters we need to get to the games and cheer them on as passionately as we can. Hopefully next weekends match against New Zealand will be a turning point

Anyone have any info. re TV coverage of Saturday's game as I can't find any in TV listings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 534 ✭✭✭sliabh 1956

Its on Access Munste streaming for a fee

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,214 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

As above, it's not on TV. It's exclusively on the Access Munster site.

How come this fixture with such a history is being limited re viewers in this way?

Well, it’s an All Blacks “XV” and not the actual All Blacks, but the answer is money.

The match is available in NZ on TV but in Ireland and the UK it's available on Access Munster

Any word on Edogbo’s recovery? Presume it’ll be at least 2025 before we see him back on the pitch?

    Money

If you're tech minded you could try using a VPN in any country other than Ireland, the UK or New Zealand and the match is free on NZR+

    positives from the Sharks game

    Billy Burns cross field kicks

Munster stayed in the fight to the end and showed a lot of grit

Simple errors lead to tries for the opposition- going asleep straight after a penalty was blown allowed the Sharks to go quickly and score a try

a previous post referred to a bug in the squad but no source so that might explain some of the performance

Really worry about what we're going to do about the front row options after this year-has it actually been confirmed about not being able to sign NIQ props?

We'll really be bunched if that's the case.

Rowntree gone with immediate effect. Did anyone see that coming?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,106 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

    Very unexpected

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭theVersatile

    Christ, didn't expect that one.

Cozzie taking over in the interim

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,448 ✭✭✭black & white

    Definitely didn't see that one

If they feel Rowntree was an issue its probably better getting rid of him now than letting the issues persist.

very strange decision..maybe he had enough, cant imagine it was Munster that pulled the trigger on that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭ligind

I am shocked he is gone, particularly with the all blacks game this week, but something had to change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,429 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Wasn't expecting that at all especially with the timing. Seems it was his side as couldn't see Munster doing it now.

I'm really disappointed. I liked Rowntree. Felt he understood the club well. Always spoke honestly.

Will always be grateful for cape town 2023.

Well that's something I definitely wasn't expecting to hear this morning. Very, very surprised at that.

Id be shocked if this decision was made by Munster. But I was under the impression to GR really enjoyed coaching and living here.

This is really disappointing and potentially a big setback for the club. He’s been a good HC overall for us, and it’s really hard finding good HCs out there.

I'm incredibly surprised by the nature of how it has happened, though I was inclined to think he wasn't going to make it into next season without a massive turnaround.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,495 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Madness, don't think results are bad enough to let him go at all, he's proven in the last two seasons he's able to turn around a bad start.

Would love to hear his side of things

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,504 ✭✭✭✭phog

That's a blow and a shock, game wise he was taking us in the right direction despite recent results. Costello might get the main gig now. There were murmurings that Flanagan might be going but losing our head coach 6 games into the league is very bad timing and it won't be easy to get a replacement one mid season.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 31,514 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

I can't imagine they will even try and get a new coach for mid-season. I'd say the lads there will have to carry it on an interim basis through.

Suspect Felix Jones has already received a call…

    Agreed

Has to be more to this than results.

Last thing Munster need is yet another change.

Very very surprising. Can only imagine that it was his decision, as trying to replace a Head coach mid season will be a nightmare.

Will be extremely interesting to hear the story in the coming days

Jones is apparently expected to see out a years gardening leave with England before he can take up a new job. I suppose an arrangement can be reached with the RFU for early release of it comes down to it.
