New diagnosis of confirmed sleep apnea concerned about disclosing to NDLS and insurance company

    Hello, confirmed yesterday I have sleep apnea with a score of 72 ahi and rdi per hour. Currently getting my head aroundhtta diagnosis! CPAP machine recommended, they have recommend resmed company to purchase the machine .

    However my concern now is driving as they recommend cease driving or at least only short distances. I am currently on long term sick leave from work ( daily commute 100km) not sure when I’m due to return. However I’m now anxious and concerned that once I disclose my condition to NdLs and my insurance company they will put me off the road or increase my premium. Anyone any advice please? Clean licence (25 years)no penalty points

    I don't think it's a notifiable illness, there's a whole other thread on it here. Once you start using the cpap they symptoms will disappear pretty quick as in a night or two. There's a new mask out since yesterday I think, might be worth trying that one 1st of res med. Where did you get diagnosed, usually they get you to try it on night 2 of the test to see how you get on.

    thanks I did the test at home through Irish life health care, using the watch through care connect. Report reviewed by a consultant from st Vincent’s .

    Join that other thread, 72ahi is very high. I was never told to disclose it and there was no mention of it from my doctor or the consultant. If tired pull over that was it.

    You probably need to go see a consultant and get a proper test. I'm assuming Irish life won't pay for the cpap just go to your own doctor now rather than online and get a referral.
