I'm genuinely slightly nervous about November, I'm out of the habit 🤣

Hoping to pick up a PSB ticket, then have Fat Dog, Alice Glass, Nick Cave & TBS, Bicurious and God Is An Astronaut. Don't even go into Dublin that often for work 😋

A really exciting run coming up for myself also. PSB next week. Followed by Idles, Khruangbin, Vampire Weekend and Fontaines. Paul McCartney then the icing on a very luscious cake.

Well there you go. I've Mercury Rev, PSB, Giant Sand, Nick Cave, Idles, MJ Lenderman, Fontaines, Been Stellar, but all those lists have other acts I'd love to go to but can't fit in. Such great music on offer at the moment.

Unfortunately have to miss Mercury Rev but still have Interpol, Fire in Cairo, Idles and Vampire Weekend. Been a great year for gigs.

I'm seeing lots of people with very busy November for gigs and MJ Lenderman amongst them - I'm here to help - I'll gladly buy those tickets off you 😉

Any chance of The Maccabees playing standalone gig here next year? 🤞

There's a very real chance November involves my first ever 2 gigs in 2 venues in one night attempt, which might break my soul.

Homeless gospel choir and vampire weekend, if it comes to a straight choice I'm probably gonna see hgc.

Tickets in hand for Wand, Russian Circles, Alan Sparhawk, Amyl & The Sniffers, Fat Dog. Also looking to hit Califone, Cola, His Father's Voice, Overhead The Albatross, Gurriers, Getdown Services and Been Stellar. Maybe give Meryl Streek another go.

A lot of those gigs are clashing with others i'd have considered; Mercury Rev, Floodlights, Nia Archives, Adore/Shark School/Theatre, Porridge Radio, Warmduscher.

Think i've only Beak in December.

Usually avoid December gigs as too many drunk people chatting the whole time

Hate to say it but Mercury Rev kinda underwhelming in Limerick tonight. Great band and setlist but sound issues plus loud drums slightly skewered it. The big issues was Jonathan’s voice. After not using it on the recent spoken-word LP there was a (well-founded) fear that it was in trouble.

Given the hugely important part his voice plays in the material it’s pretty distracting when he reaches for notes he can’t hit. I’m surprised he doesn’t disguise it with effects as Wayne Coyle or others sometimes do. Sorry to put anyone on a downer on the eve of their remaining gigs but it’s best to be aware. Anyway, I’m off to the Róísín tomorrow and am still delighted I can see one of my favourite bands in the company of only 279 other people. Enjoy the sets this week.

Damn. I'm back in the chatterbox Opium in December, for Chameleons.

A comeback for Mercury Rev. Astonishing in Galway tonight. A much smaller room with a lowish ceiling and a spanking brand new sound system helps. His voice was clearly better than Dolans but was also helped by improved sound engineering and a louder band. 7 musicians (at one stage 8) on a tiny stage in front of 280 people. How did we get so lucky?

An astonishing band playing a myriad of instruments, a longer and better setlist and the band cutting loose with extended jams. I also got to meet JD.

    My gig of 2025.

It was indeed a special performance. My better half had never listened to them before, and was a bit reluctant to be dragged out on a Tuesday night in a week when we're also heading to Dublin for a gig (Therapy?), but she was very impressed too.
