Trump has pulled out of another event; this time an interactive town hall called "Make America Healthy Again"

The campaigning obviously getting to him. More media starting to report on his cognitive decline and reported exhaustion. This was the death knell for Biden's campaign, but too late for Trump to drop out now.

I hope you and Flaneur don't mind me taking the liberty of responding to you.

I don't recall the interview and accept your take on it. She, until after the 5th Nov result comes in, is stuck with supporting him by not allowing others to portray her [for their own political purposes] as a person who should disavow him and make political statements varying with his while still serving as his V/P in his administration. It's a cleft stick she's stuck with, unenviable but true and it's obvious that Trump would love to ignite a total break-up of the Biden/Harris partnership before the 5th Nov.

in all seriousness I’m actually amazed how poor his campaign is/was but yet how well he’s doing in the polls.

I think Harris as replacement candidate threw him big time - he had no plan B - I thought his on stage silences and strange dancing would have been the death of his campaign but not a dent - if the polls are still as tight as they appear to be, Americans must be desperate for whatever reason - that’s really the question I’d love to see answered - it’s actually the only one that counts

and just to be clear- I’m not saying it was an easy thing to do - far from it - but maybe a bit more individuality or new thinking or new ideas maybe - anyway, all academic at present as she’s neither won nor lost yet

The problem for Joe was the debate, he arguably improved a bit after it but the debate performance was deeply worrying. In boxing parlance his corner would have had to consider throwing in the towel. DT isn't at those levels yet and to argue otherwise is farcical.

In fairness Trump hasn’t put forward a decent performance on any of the key issues of the day - if he started talking sense at this stage I’d actually worry for him 😀

I'd have to repeat my refrain that the GOP are stuck with him and have no one else to rely on, all down to the stupidity of the party leadership back in 2015. The senators had candidates a plenty but because of their rivalry, they stuck the party with him. In the past year, he's become something like the awkward uncle with his outbursts but the party is stuck with him on a "he's ours and we'll decide what to do about him, not you" basis. Most times he's OK but stick a camera and a mike in front of him……

I was a bit gross in my reference to Trump describing him as the village idiot above so I've amended the description. I reckon that the senators had a less than correct understanding of his cleverness and he outplayed them back then. However, since then, the power rush he got from the presidency went to his head and he's become almost uncontrollable and unguidable making him, with his ideas, a danger to the voters in general there. The usual rule of the party in power making deals with the other party to ensure things in the US were managed capably no longer exists with him at the helm of the GOP.

They aren't "polls" though , they are "aggregators".

I think the challenge for them is filtering out the crap.

A specific poll from a reputable pollster like NYT/Siena for example is likely a reasonable measure but for an RCP , 538 et al the challenge is how do you average out polls from NYT/Siena and "Billy-bobs Surveys 'n' such" or whatever.

RCP don't filter at all , they just add them all up and produce a simple rolling average score.

538 and Silverbulletin etc. all have their own logic that they use to apply various weightings to the surveys based on methodolgies , historic accuracy etc.

Who knows if they are truly accurate or even if they are better than the unfiltered variants , but the volume and variable quality of surveys makes the job of the aggregators really challenging

If Trump had invested his inheritance in stocks and shares he'd be worth about 10 times what he is now. And any buisnessman that stiffs contractors is a ghoul imo. Can't even run a charity as he wa taking funds from it.

As regards a proven leader in politics. He hasn't the first clue on how to be a politician. Like that point is lunacy.

What will the never trumpers say if he wins by a landslide?

2016 clown man no chance utter shock he win (child friendly John p says it's not over but no printers go brrr)

2020 watching us elections for 40 years have never seen so much schnanigans printers were indeed ready this time

81 million votes for candidate even then was shouting at his rallies with about five hundred at them like grandpa Simpson.

2024 so dems see k Harris as useless asodt see her no printers of schnanigans can out do a landslide hence panic.

    To be clear on something:

No one is claiming Harris is the perfect candidate or above criticism … but they are issues within the bounds of politics as normal, if she was running against a Republican of old, McCain, Romney, Dole etc

But she's not. She is running against a candidate with multiple strikes against him, that would have disqualified any 'normal' candidate, and rightly so… from January 6th, to Trump's court cases, his pandering to enemies of the US such as Putin, to his constant lying and false claims, to his racist dog whistling as seen in the debates about pets being eaten. It is quite probable that agents of the US and their allies are dead because of Trump being reckless with confidential intelligence. He is not a fit and proper person to be President.

The pushback comes when there are posts trying to put the issues with Harris as a candidate are on the same level as those with Trump. They are not on the same level, they are not in the same division.

I'd say if he wins this time those party elders would say their call was vindicated on the basis that

Very few. If you throw enough **** polls at the aggrigating sites then you inevitably degrade the overall result no matter how hard they try to account for biases.

It's a valid point to make that Harris should potentially have tried to differenciate herself more from Biden and his policies sooner. If the posters we're complaining about were coming on boards with such good faith talking points, I suspect there'd be much less of a problem. But that's not what's happening.”

Wonderful -thanks- thats what I said and that was my only point -if posters have “problems” I suggest they go to a moderator and discuss

Just because what these posters are doing isn't against the rules of the forum and CA/IMHO threads doesn't mean they're not being inherently dishonest.

We aren't seeing these kinds of good faith arguments from them. That's the issue.

In two US states, Michigan and North Carolina, where the RNC had introduced suits to block US citizens who have never been in the continental USA but had mail-in votes, the courts have tossed out the lawsuits.

The only person I can speak of is myself. My above point on Harris is completely honest. I truly believe IF she loses the election, that independence of thought and mind and separating herself from the Biden administration in some way, may have helped her election campaign - that’s it !

im not going to engage with or entertain people who wish to label me a “double standard” person or a “double Big Mac” or whatever nonsense they come out with - I’m just here to give an opinion - if any poster wishes to engage as some have on an honest basis without all this gobbledygook nonsense then like I’m doing right now , I’ll reply to you .

Hey, I just realized, all those 'Convicted Felon Trump' is going to win, instead of manipulatable betting markets, put your money where you e-mouths are, and go long on DJT. It's tripled in a month, so, better get in soon!

Likewise, certain Harris is going to win? Short it, I'd say Friday after election day for a good day for the short.

Prosecutor and relatively recent politician vs well established former president and thrice republican candidate is probably more accurate - and allows a wider and more open discussion around why we are seeing this situation playing out so closely between the two parties

Trump is to appear on the Joe Rogan podcast on Friday, should be entertaining.

It's probably legally a non-starter from the off and he may be only using it as a political ploy, waving a big stick as it were, in his campaign to win the presidency telling the public "I will ensure the security of the US if you re-elect me", with no intent or ability to use it. Trump has said he will use the "aliens enemies act of 1798" to expel those aliens with convictions from the US back to their country of origin. As I understand it, the act can only be used when the US is at a state of war with another nation.

”Truth” wouldn’t be Trumps best qualities - but what I’ve seen, he serves a mean medium fries if you’d like one of his qualities 😀

But “Security” and “feeling” secure, is a big campaign score and has been since the start, no matter how distracted people get on Trumps serving qualities behind a fast food outlet store - if people are in doubt that Harris will “protect” them- they’ll vote Trump / that’s a given - to quote some posters here “it’s a two horse race”!

Putting my optimistic hat on for a moment. If Trump does win in November, there is one thing to look forward to. The news is not going to be boring for the next 4 years.

and the 1798 act can only be used on the French. Bit ironic seeing as the mileage he’s got out of serving up a few French fries.

Poor fella that wrote it couldn’t pronounce seven apparently.
