That's it like ticket is one thing but that place is just a rip-off like I've taken it to just heading abroad to see half these bands like another poster said we do get skipped and my opinion is if they won't come here I'll get a cheap flight from Cork Airport and see them,

Went to Metallica in Amsterdam last year, I paid a good bit I stayed for 5 days and got early entry both days and I think it must have come out to flights+hotel+tickets around 800 euros which for 5 days and I stayed next to the place, you'd never get that here, and it was better the Slane when it came to the setlist they played across 2 nights everything I wanted that i didn't get at Slane

Had to do it as well for AC/DC went over to Wembley got up the front and it was unbelievable ( I do hope I make the concert film hahaha) but seriously it cost about 400 euros ticket, flight all that, it's just too expensive to justify going up to Dublin at times,

Bought tickets for Been Stellar, Floodlights and Meryl Streek last night. All playing Dublin in November at around the €20 mark. There's still value out there.

Support is LS Dunes, a supergroup including Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance. That’ll be a good show

Who are the acts that are skipping Ireland? Sod all I’d say. Most touring acts have managed to get here in the last decade and I’m struggling to think of any acts I’d want to see (mainly indie, Americana, hip-hop) who’ve not given me that option in the past few years. For an island of 7m people we do pretty well. No complaints here.

Mostly small to mid sized indie bands for me who seem to have skipped us recently, especially since the pandemic & Brexit. Probably not financially viable for them.

Two examples - Real Estate currently on a UK & Europe run have skipped us. They were supposed to play Vicar St in 2020, it got canned and they haven't been back since.

Nap Eyes announced a tour today with no Irish date. Thought they sold out Whelan's last time here in 2019/2020.

We do well for sure but skipping us definitely seems to be a trend.

    Thanks .

Could open a whole thread to discuss everything in this , for those interested ?

Sorry, but I gotta disagree. It’s anything but a trend. As before there are sod all acts that repeatedly avoid Ireland. Some might skip us on a tour but then turn up for the next one. Nap Eyes have been here twice in the past 8 years, effectively 2 in the last 6 with two years shut down for Covid. Real Estate haven’t been for a decade. They’re an outlier.

Even on the west coast it’s rare to not have at least two overseas touring acts a week and it’s hard to get to all. In the past 6 days alone I’ve missed Valerie June & Evan Dando whilst catching the Bluetones. In the next ten days, despite the Comedy Festival effectively closing three venues, Mercury Rev & the Crash Test Dummies are here.

Even a decade ago there’s not a hope in hell that in a three month period in Galway I’d get the above acts plus Leftfield, Kneecap, The Undertones, Pixies, NewDad, Kneecap, Arab Strap, Waterboys, Bonnie Prince Billy, Snööper, Lightning Seeds, Madness and several others on tour. We’re getting more acts than we have had, far closer to overload that being passed over. Long may it continue.

Rise Against fit the bill for me in what's been spoken about there, some acts you just want to check out you know a few songs from back in the day and have a decent reputation live n what have ya.

€25-40 okay. €65 looking for like for upper circle I'm clearly well out at that, I mean that's diehards only surely.

Sure something like Wardruna is pricy there as well but it's understandable with a large scale production not just lads arriving with a few guitars in duffelbags.

Anyone else see the talk of the Fleetwood Mac reunion, saw they made new social media accounts recently and Stevie on SNL, I think I'd drop a bomb to see that if it ever happened

I'd hate to see the price for tickets, I think I paid like €90 when they played the 3Arena in 2015????? with Lindsay/Christine which was fantastic btw. Didn't bother for tickets the last time they were here and not sure I'd bother if they go back out on the road.

They could easily go on the 'Farewell Tour' junket. They need Lindsey back but might mean a shorter tour due to his health struggles. Gutted about the shows in the Helix been cancelled a few years back

Maybe a residency in the Sphere in Vegas

Yes. Saw both that one and the previous one without Christine but this one was pretty special.

4kwp South East facing PV System. 5.3kwh Weco battery. South Dublin City.

Yeah I was chatting with family about the price because they saw Stevie in the 3 while I was at AC/DC and they spent a small fortune to just see Stevie so god knows how much it would be for the rest of them..

I'd say you'd be talking 200-300 a ticket easily with the way it's going these days, like if rise against are charging nearly 70 euro for the Olympia surely they'd charge 2-3x times that surely, all the nostalgia farewell tours are a fortune these days

Tickets for WrestleMania in Vegas going on sale next week

I'm going to get some fright when I see the prices. The cost of the VIP packages are mental , I'd want a match in the ring for the prices

Price of gigs / events are just going to get higher, like I was offered tickets to the champions league final in London and it was ranging from the 100's-1,000's and the decent seats were nearly 1000,

At the same time these are luxury goods so they aren't essential whatsoever but they are always sold out so there clearly is a market for it and people do pay, I'm happy I've seen the vast majority of bands that I've wanted to see and can bow out (I'm only 26 😂😂) before we get into the insane money territory of dynamic pricing, I'm still hopeful of an Oasis ticket popping up on resale days beforehand but that would be about it.

If it's something your dying to see like WrestleMania then may as well go as it's only going to get more expensive as the years go on, I'd love to go to that sphere and the act I'd make the effort for would be Tool as I think it's the perfect venue

yes, very much so, they did 40 gigs in The Sphere, in Vegas from late September ‘23 to early March ‘24, but, without Larry, who is recovering from lengthy surgeries, with a long recovery period, a new album is speculatively expected, in the coming months, as is a tour, but they likely won’t tour again, until Larry is fully recovered. i’d expect to see them live here, next year, or the following year at the latest.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 16,017 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

Yea it's one of those things if we keep paying they won't change, and I'm guilty of a few times doing that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,505 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Oh man that would be awesome esp with the special effects TOOL already incorporate

Hoping I'll get an Oasis ticket somewhere along the line. Cassidy Travel for Edinburgh is enticing as its double bucket list item

Wrestlemania speaks for itself and I have a figure in my head for Combo Ticket. Thankfully have hotel and flights sorted

There was a fairly big gap before we got Malahide and the 3Arena show.

Oxegen donkeys years ago and maybe another festival after that?

No guarantee they'll play here but hopefully.

Reviews for the new record are really positive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 789 ✭✭✭Duffy98

Yeah I think that venue was built for a Tool show, I saw what U2 and grateful dead were able to do with the space and it looked mind-blowing so I think with tools aesthetic it would just be a complete trip, I saw them in June at the O2 and I was delighted haha got forty six and two as the closer along with other songs that weren't done at the 3,

That's the hope with Oasis I just purchase a ticket closer to the date from either production hold or buyers remorse, one of my mates paid 1k for two standing tickets who never goes to gigs...

Grand job, that'll be a once in a lifetime event like bucket list stuff really, my one if it ever were to happen again would be S&M 3 from Metallica but it would be thousands to go

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,600 ✭✭✭COH

I went to S&M 2 for my honeymoon! Would recommend it at any price.
