Is it Burns or Crowley that have kicked those awful restarts?

    Or one each?

Jesus, that's a shocker. Surprised by Crowley there.

    the season’s over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,415 ✭✭✭letowski

It’s been a very poor display though overall by Munster. Some shocking play, between the scrums, lineouts, throws into touch, intercepts, restarts, I mean where do you start. The management have an awful lot of stuff to clean up.

The 2nd half is nothing short of a disgrace…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,889 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

A glaring drop in quality from the bench, a massive capitulation in the key facets of defence and game management.

2/5, three pretty callow losses on the road. Rowntree better start offering some answers.

Bit worried about Crowley from an Ireland perspective, if I'm honest. I know it's early in the season, but he hasn't been great. He's got credit in the bank, but Frawley might start putting pressure on him.

That was pretty awful Munsters basics are shocking

    Ah that intercept wasa disaster

We are in trouble lineout wise 2nd game running.

Up against it for nxt week for sure

Really disappointed, once on the restart not to make 10mtrs was poor but twice is unforgivable

They really cant be blamed for players not kicking the ball 10 yards, throwing straight in a lineout, being able to scrum on their own ball, and throwing intercept passes when the players cross the whitewash its they that are accountable. I thought Rowentres post match interview was brilliant He and the Coaches are definitely not the blame

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,360 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Coaches aren't necessarily to blame if the players struggle in a one off game. Those kinds of things happen from time to time.

But if the same issues arise across multiple games then the coaches deserve criticism. Munster's lineout has been poor this season and imo hasn't been great for multiple seasons either.

Well, the sample set isn't huge, so wouldn't be getting too carried away yet.

Watched on RTE2 +1 and sorry I did. We're a complete rabble at the moment. Lineout is an appalling mess, not sure it was a demolition job by Leinster last week. Looks like that it's down to ourselves.

Crowley was abysmal, which is fine, provided it's a once off. Throwing 2 intercepts in one game is unforgiveable. And a poor miss from a conversion. Under pressure now for the green shirt from Frawley.

Why we brought in Billy Burns is beyond me. He's useless, and has been proven to be useless at several clubs.

The squad is very weak, front row has huge mileage on the clock. Kieran Ryan did well, but he's an AIL player.

Too many fellas have time and again shown they're not up to it. Jack O'Donoghue with a brain dead penalty for obstruction, leads to a try. He's at it all his career.

They're better be a huge reaction next week because otherwise the season will slip away.

We have had 4 different head coaches over the last 9 years. One died, one went on to win the world cup, twice, and one brought his team to the final in his second year in charge. I think it's time to stop blaming the coaches and focus on the players.

We have a lot of players who simply aren't up to the task and need to be replaced

    Wrong thread.

Very poor by Munster tonight. Getting so many basics wrong quite like the Leinster game! Time for the mgmt to look at themselves as well as the team. With O Mahony out there's no leadership on the pitch! The biggest pity is you get the feeling the year will just be a struggle with no changes in mgmt until the end of the season.

crowley was poor today but was the better 10 by far last week. frawley definitely has potential but some of his kicking last week was very, very loose and he hasnt shown enough control of games yet to warrant overtaking crowley for now. having said that, the european final and the 2nd SA test show that he at least has balls, even if he has some other work ons

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭niallm77

How many times has crowley passed to nobody this season so far.

Crowley has stalled somewhat. From an Ireland POV his current form is very concerning

Only caught rowntrees interview there, he really does say all the right things. Being in SA & in each other's pockets for the week is idea from the mindset point of view, could be the making of them.

Every year under Rowntree we've started slow and peaked later.

I'm inclined to reserve judgment on the season until Christmas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭redved

Why is it acceptable to start slow. Doing it for one season and getting away with it fair enough. Surely lessons would be learned

But munster have each season improved. Is it frustrating. Yes. But I would give coaching team time as they have got team better in the latter stages when it's more important to be playing well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 401 ✭✭JD Dublin

negatives - Crowley had a worryingly poor game. 2 no- look passes were schoolboy errors, failed to kick 10 metres another mistake.
no dog in the lineup who is going to grab people by the scruff of the neck like OMahony does when the opposition crosses the line e.g. entering a ruck from the side like Clarke suffered

Ref was appalling from start to finish- within the first 5 minutes he missed a penalty for Munster when the Stormer player failing to release a Munster player in the tackle late tackle on Haley should have resulted in more than a penalty. No way OMahoney would stand for that.

A few forward passes out to the winger like against Leinster

No strategy to beat the rush defense by breaking the line and getting in behind

Positives - Sean OBrien, Abern played well, Kleyn back and in good form. Depressing TBH

No no…Adamson had a great game…remember we arent allowed criticise him on this forum!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,248 ✭✭✭50HX

Yes crowley made mistakes but all 10's will at some stage, it wasn't like he was the loosing of the game for us, he's been one of our best players so far this season along with Farrell imo

Try either side of half time nailed us.

Lots of things in our control, line out can be fixed, counter rucking needs to improve

We are not that far off, we have ability to beat the rush defense it's just a tad forced at the minute for us when we get into opp 22

All is not lost, nxt week is only 1/3 of the way thru URC, v little between 2nd -13th in the table as of now so no panic buttons to be pressed yet

Yeah I wouldn't be panicking yet at all, individual errors as opposed to systemic ones (lineout apart… which is a very real concern for me).

Injury list is huge so a pretty callow bench, bench and team reshuffle before kickoff, new centre partnership, Aherne only just back. When we have a fit first 15 we're in with a shout against anyone but after that there's a drop-off currently.

Crowley had some individual errors you never normally see from him, I wouldn't be chucking him out of the Irish team just yet and his form is not a 'concern'… he's had a very good season so far.

You get days like this, I'm backing the coaching team to make it right. I'd prefer not to have a slow start mind!
