Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, Disney+  17th of April 2024

The first chunk of season 3 of the excellent Abbott elementary has been added (6 in total, first one is a double episode).

Yo Disney+, you need to add the live songs from ttpd era to my eras concert. Please do this asap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,847 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I see Disney+ has made an annoying update and removed the episode runtimes from the episode lists. Now you have to start an episode to see how long it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭fman

Yep a massive downgrade and can't figure out why they did it. Is it good for them if everyone clicks into a lot of stuff and plays about 5 seconds. Does it let them fudge their numbers.

I'm not sure how long ago they did it but noticed they have added a little star watermark into the bottom right of Star originals. Lasts for a few seconds at the start of episodes like a channel bug/dog. Again what's the point.

Wait, what?? That's a bizarre change, I'd love to know the rationale behind it all. Obviously they feel viewers drop out for long episodes?

I'd prefer it if they put trailers on the dashboard of shows and films, cos it's bloody annoying I can't just watch a quick trailer before sampling.

On my Android app there is the option to watch a trailer sitting alongside the Add to Watchlist and Download buttons. Not sure what it's like on my Smart TV.

    The first omen added

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,808 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

Watched it last night, very good film. Best Omen since original.

The Smart TV app for me; it doesn't give any option for trailers with the majority of items I've clicked into. The big items like Marvel, Star Wars sure - but rarely the FX stuff.

Yeah, looks like the UI on most, if not all, platforms supports trailers. The issue is more that traditional TV shows don't have ready made trailers and I'm assuming Disney isn't willing to create bespoke content for the platform.

Really enjoyed’The Creator’. Nit sure why it got such bad reviews, story was good and never lagged, acting cannot fault, and good mix of action, special effects and human/machine emotions. Highly recommend it.

Disney+ decides when it wants to work on my SmartTV, it works perfectly on my phone or iPad! Very annoying!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭fman

Saw it posted elsewhere and checked it myself. Run times are back and can't say it changed at the same time as an app update.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,847 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Thanks. Just checked on my phone and they're there. Now can decide if I have time to squeeze in another episode before bed when watching something. 😃

On my TV the Disney app would often restart when I try start an episode of something. Really annoying but hasn't happened in a while.

    Is it same for you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭CiaranW

No, it would stall like it's lagging. Netflix and Prime without any hitch ever.
But Disney gets this more often than not now, it lags and it gets a lot of loading timers then it will eventually just stop!

For anyone who unsubscribed when Disney got greedy at the beginning of the year it might be worth your while keeping an eye on your emails.

I just got one begging me to come back @ €3.49 pm for three months. They must be missing me 😁.

Got the same. Anything good added last 6 months? Debating whether it's worth 3.50 or not 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

Yeah, I didn't go with it yet anyway. I was using 3 credit when I was subscribed. It's not giving that option for the discount.

Second chunk of season 3 of Abbott Elementary now up, lovely easy watch.

The first two episodes of season 2 of Will Trent also available (new episodes on Wednesdays).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,711 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Enjoying season 2 of Will Trent watched the first 5 that are up on Disney +

One big criticism, I could really do without Angies partner and his family drama entirely, the guy is a terrible actor and the storyline is dull as dishwater.

Final month of subscribing to Disney+ for me… for the record I haven't paid for it since Sept 2022 as I received 2 years free from Samsung phone purchases.. so the last time I paid it was €8.99.

€10.99 is way too much for the amount of usage I give it (prob 5-8 movies a month and then the odd episode). I'm primarily interested in Horror and Thrillers so Netflix and Shudder see me through there and there's little to keep me engaged on Disney apart from the recent Omen flick.

Any must-watches for the last month? I'm just about completing Dexter on Netflix so I'll be free to use up the rest in September.

A few on my list are:

    • The Acolyte (I started into episode 2 and found it kinda meh, but willing to see it through)
    • New episodes of Futurama
    • The Bear Season 3

    I guess I'm lost on what else…

EDIT: Actually I don't think I've seen "The Marvels" yet… and "Venom" come to think of it

You've probably saw some of these but just in case...

Mr. Inbetween was pretty good. Aussie crime drama/black comedy.

Dave was ok - US comedy about wannabe rapper.

Mike, the Mike Tyson drama worth a watch if any interest in boxing. My Mrs even enjoyed it.

Documentaries: Trafficked; The Rescue; Free Solo & Europe from above (very relaxing to watch, 'cool' sights around Europe).

Mr inbetween is absolutely brilliant stuff!

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

Bit of a random recommendation but if you like Scooby doo type cartoons Gravity Falls is excellent. A pair of 12 year old twins are sent to spend the summer with their great uncle at his small town "mystery shack" attraction. Two seasons of a well written, witty, fully wrapped up story.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,050 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Would he have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,507 ✭✭✭The Raging Bile Duct

Wouldn't compare it to Scooby Doo at all. It's one of the smartest kids cartoons out there. Fantastic show.

Looks like Disney+ have finally done it, they've copied the Netflix model.
    They've set the accounts to a household…
So you can't share with family or friends.
