his deflection “we had a peaceful transition of power on January 20th” is like saying the confederacy peacefully abolished slavery.

So your read on the interview is that Fox was subtle, playing softball with Harris on the questions it put to her, lulling her into a false sense of security for a second interview where it would have a trap waiting for her to knife her when she will mess up again.

Why would Fox throw away an opportunity to do that when it had it last night? When's the last time Fox was subtle in handling Harris, or Biden? The election is getting closer each day now, reducing the chance Fox will have of getting a second opportunity to interview Harris.

Harris's campaign is well wide when it come to how Fox broadcasts anything concerning Harris and her boss, Biden.

But remember, the interview wasn't a softball one. It was one that Harris supposed messed up. It was described as a car crash. One so obvious it doesn't require elaboration.

Fox apparently only tried being subtle after the interview when they said that she did fine.

Not even a hint of what she messed up? Just a drive by response that could have been posted without watching. You have time to post it was a car crash but not even mention a part that she messed up? You can go into further detail when you have more time obviously but maybe it would have been best to hold the opinion till you did have time instead of a generic statement.

Brett Baier waves the white flag of surrender

    https://www.mediaite.com/news/bret-baier-concedes-kamala-harris-may-have-gotten-anti-trump-fox-pushback-viral-moment-from-his-interview/

As we were saying: the driver who crashed last night wasn’t Kamala Harris. The internet has shown as much with the clip shared here last night that went overwhelmingly viral where she cut down Baier for not acknowledging Trumps ramblings about using the military on Americans and steamrolling him about how we live in a democracy.

which has to be incredibly damaging to the vulnerable portion of Trump’s base: many of his base are anti-neocon and his remarks almost take us directly back to the middle of the bush administration when we were discussing how the patriot act suspended the right of habeas corpus and the fears that were very real back then that the military would be used on Americans designated as enemy combat without trial.

yeah they so subtly tried interrupting her more times than I could count in the first 3 minutes. 🐂 💩

Let's be honest, she's been abysmal and appears unprepared to be president. Dems should have went with Newsom who is slick and sharp. For the US to elect a woman she will need to be A. An exceptional candidate and B. Running against an opponent that has low enthusiasm voters, the likes of a Mitt Romney. Running her against Trump was doomed from the beginning.

More empty invectives. More lack of specifics.

    Empty waffle.

Can you give an example of how she has been abysmal? Like for example did she recently just shuffle around on stage for 30 minutes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

39 minutes. Multiple playings of Ave Maria, Hallelujah etc.

Imagine having a medical emergency and the guy you go to see celebrated by playing the cats musical and YMCA

I think it’s clear why some of his supporters rushed to call her interview a “car crash” because it’s exactly how his swaying incident was aptly described. A desperate effort to deflect that descriptor back to her, but it doesn’t work when even Baier admitted she is laughing it up today over how well she did.

IF she was too polished and 'slick', why do I get the feeling that argument would be trotted out against her? That she is fake… meanwhile she does interviews and appearances, some of them on radio \ chat shows showing a more relaxed side, on Fox News showing she can hold her own in a hostile medium… and gets zero credit.

While you may be right that a woman (unjustly) candidate faces a handicap she has to overcome with the electorate, your claims of 'abysmal' and 'unprepared to be president' are as convincing as the evidence you present to support that argument. And at the moment, that stands at exactly zero.

Newsom would have been hammered for being too slick and being essentially the walking embodiment of corporate centrism.

Biden should never have run for a second term, really, and I believe this is what he was initially considering. Having said that, I think an 85 year old Biden sitting in a wheelchair and drooling onto his lap would still make a more civically-responsible president than Trump would, but this probably wouldn't have borne itself out in an election.

It probably had to be Harris as replacement that close to the election since A) she'd have access to the campaign warchest and B) because the party couldn't risk a potentially bruising contest or big division within the party with only 3.5 months to go.

I think it's fair to say that she seems far more prepared to be a far more competent leader of the US than Trump.

I get the feeling that if they did go with Newsome we'd be hearing from "centrists" about how bad the democrats were for passing over a woman of colour for another white dude. We'd be told that she might not be as qualified but the democrats should have picked her to increase diversity, equality and inclusion.

Any stick would have been used against whoever they went with.

In other words, you lied and we should be sceptical of everything you say. Thanks.

It's the eternal game of "opposites"

"They should have gone with Newsom" ⇐> "They wouldn't pick a woman of Colour"

"They should have picked Shapiro" ⇐> "He's a Coastal Elite , they should have picked someone more normal"

"She's terrified of doing interviews!!" ⇐> "She's doing too many interviews , obviously worried!!"

There is literally no viewpoint that won't be simply reversed shamelessly to suit the narrative.

Whats funny about it? Is it the repeated use of a slur that you find amusing?

Like all good satire it catches their personality very well and gently makes fun of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,148 ✭✭✭Smee_Again

Does it really catch their personality? The only one to use that slur recently is Trump.

She schooled Brett Baier in how he tried to mislead the audience in what Trump had said.

She saw what he was doing, she called him out on it, he tried to shut her down and she refused to let him do it.

That interview put to bed any argument that she is avoiding being put in the spotlight.

She offered to debate him, she has gone on 60 Minutes, she went on Fox news.

He refused to debate her, he refused to go on 60 Minutes and he is now shutting down at rallies.

Your boy is a fraud (publicly and legally). Hope you're getting some work done, the day won't have been a total waste for you if you did.

Do you think i support Trump ? I think he's a terrible candidate as he shows weekly

My gripe with this thread is from day one if you comment on anything slightly negative about Kamala your meet with " but Trump" It doesn't have to be one or another you can dislike both

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,031 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

Trump reportedly has recently tried to pay off Stormy Daniels once again requesting that she stay quiet between now and the election.

    The man's a joke.

    Seriously? That's beyond pathetic.

I'm convinced that nothing is going to break Trump's base up (Edited).

Possibly why I have "doubts" about the veracity of some media sites, print and other.

The truth will be out there on the days after the vote results start being tallied so it's probably best to wait until then before declaring who won and who lost. Almost all else until then is polls, speculation and hopes.

Would you not like to know what Trump has said on the same subject though? I mean if you hear something Harris says that you don’t like, why would you not want to hear Trumps opinion on it?

I think it’s odd to just want to criticise one candidate and not hear about the other one in a thread about both.

If Trump was a normal candidate maybe it wouldn’t be as one sided. But because he’s totally unfit for office, any criticism of Harris can be levelled 10 fold at Trump.

But as I'm sure you're aware, the tactic by Trump supporters is to nitpick Harris while completely ignoring the things Trump is doing and pretend that it's a competition between two equally bad candidates.

We've seen it here with Trump supporters declaring Harris' interview a car crash without support while dodging questions around Trump's performances.

You can dislike both. No one says otherwise. But pretending that Trump is equal to Harris or somehow better is simply a denial of reality.

So, who's recent media appearances do you think have been worse? Do you believe that have been equally as bad?
