I wonder what was going on in Noem’s head while this went on. She looks really nervous and awkward throughout.

I don't see the big risk tbh..

Rogan isn't exactly an insightful interviewer - He's more of a "listener" and rarely really challenges his guests.

He's not known for chasing them down on unanswered questions etc.

So unless it's a complete ambush job she should get an opportunity to speak to an audience that normally wouldn't hear her.

Yeah I'd agree. I think I saw Trump is going to do one with Rogan also, so I'd say, as much as I think Rogan is a pretty terrible interviewer and his podcasts are overhyped nonsense, he's likely to try to be fairly equal between the two.

Plus if anything, further proof if it was required that Harris isn't afraid of interviewers or possible tough questions. Rogan, Fox News, 60 Minutes…

Joe Rogan is no Jeremy Paxman, I think she would do well on his show, probably won't happen but showing that she is willing to do an interview with him is a win in itself.

He went from thinking Bernie Sanders was dangerous lunatic to be a supporter/advocate after he was on JRE….. Joe is an empty vessel.

Keeping an eye out for any unruly dogs that might need "sorting out" ?

Well I think we know what Noem would do to a dog that exhibited Trump like behaviour…

Don't see why she shouldn't. Rogan had Sanders on and it was a perfectly fine talk.

I'd hardly call Rogan shows interviews.

Following the episode that happened last night Trump has pulled out of doing a softball interview with right wing anchor Joe Kernen on the Squawk Box on CNBC. Trump is allegedly very friendly with Kernen and was named at one of Trump's trials as being one of the contacts on Trump's personal phone.

He was also on a podcast with Barstool Sports this morning but based on his remarks about just leaving the Detroit Economic Club it was prerecorded a few days ago and it seems he expressed annoyance about doing the whole thing at all, and very tired / burnt out of doing campaigning:

“Now, a lot of people you meet — even for interviews — and you wouldn’t feel this way,” Trump told them. “You know, you wanna sort of get out of there; and I wasn’t in the mood to do this. I just left the Economic Club of Detroit. I made a two-hour. Then, I left Maria Bartiromo. She gave me a what, one hour — at least — interview. And then I said, ‘OK, is that is for the day?’ ‘No, you’re gonna meet a couple of young, handsome athletes. One of them’s 6-foot-7, and the other one’s just a pure, good athlete’ … We had a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun.”

    https://www.mediaite.com/sports/exhausted-trump-gets-in-tense-spat-with-barstool-sports-hosts-about-trans-athletes-she-should-have-gotten-the-sht-knocked-out-of-her/

Also at that same Detroit Economic Club Trump had a very bizarre meander into a rambling over the word "grocery"

"I have more complaints on grocery. The word grocery. You know, it’s a sorta simple word, but it sorta means like everything you eat. The stomach is speaking. It always does. And, uh, I have more complaints about that." Trump, 10/10/24

Trump is clearly not doing well.

I look forward to MSNBC this evening, hopefully they have a lot of fun with trump's 'performance' last night

Trump now into 4/5 , Harris out to 5/4 in the betting.

Trump can seem to do no wrong despite all the strange goings on.

    Bizarro world.

don't think it's a risk either. She is pro legalising weed. Joe may not be everyone's cup of tea, but from I can see of him, he is never aggressive or nasty and seems to just enjoy a chat with anyone at all. Can't really fault him for talking to anyone who agrees to go on the show

They’re really trying to hide him till Election Day

Every time he’s in front of a camera the cognitive issues are more and more apparent

Well maybe you can explain this strangeness. You yourself are a Trump supporter and constantly ignore and dodge problems and questions about him.

Why? Why do you still support him when you aren't able to defend him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,079 ✭✭✭ronjo

    That is absolutely nuts.

Who would you vote for considering whats going on at the moment with him?

Still not at all convinced of the accuracy of the betting markets as a predictor , certainly not in a race so close..

If this was an actual horse race an each way bet would make the most sense , so the markets may be reflecting that.

But the underlying point holds - What needs to happen for Trump to lose support?

I do kind of fault him for allowing people to spout utterly specious nonsense without any sort of challenge , but that also means that the risks in a Rogan interview are low - He's not the guy to catch someone out with a big "gotcha" question or to do a Paxman and hound them on an unanswered issue etc.

I kinda hope it's Musk placing a fortune on Trump to win to make up for the catastrophic losses at Twitter that's manipulating the market.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,107 ✭✭✭Christy42

Possibly but unlikely unless he wants to make the PR point.

If you have any amount of money and want to bet you can get a better return investing in a sector they would prop up so a lot of bets won't show up.

Musk has his own beliefs and has funded Trump to ensure that his competitors get taxed heavily (some may call it a bribe given Trump said he wouldn't help him without the donation).

Practically speaking? It seems Trump could do anything and his support base is still locked in. Some have even said, literally, not figuratively, but literally, if trump dropped his pants and took a steaming sh*t on a podium, they would still vote for him. He could have a full on drooling stroke and I think people would still vote for him. He could drop dead from a health complication and people would still vote for him posthumously. About the only thing that might lose him support are things that won't happen, like making a sincere and contrite public apology for something he had done and taking full responsibility. That would be a weakness and his base, I feel, would not be able to bear. It would go against the core of why the base idolizes him so much. Nevermind the fact that they want him back to keep stacking the courts.

We know this. We also know Musk is no longer one of the smartest men around. Possibly thanks to the drugs.

I don't think they are allowed to for early voting , doesn't mean they aren't but don't think we'd ever see the info.

Historically though , Democrats would be the majority of early voters in most States so queues at this stage is potentially a positive for the Harris campaign.

Having said that though , Biden won De Kalb with 83% of the vote but turnout matters..

Rogan is more likely to be gotcha'd by his producer via a google search than Rogan is likely to gotcha his guests.

I don't see much risk to Kamala by doing the interview. There's a huge audience there that listen to Rogan for a whole range of reasons. People who aren't otherwise into politics. Between this and Fox News etc. she's going to be connecting to a whole new range of voters - tens of millions, in the last home stretch of the race.

At least you're coming round to the idea of Trump being extremely strange. Good man yourself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

The MAGA Twitter bubble is in full spin mode trying to innoculate themselves from Kamala's upcoming Brett Baier interview, throwing out every excuse in the book for why they don't think it matters: making up conspiracies about the interview being recorded, imagining that Baier is giving Harris kid gloves or special concessions, etc.

    https://www.mediaite.com/news/foxs-bret-baier-fends-off-trump-fans-bombarding-him-with-kamala-harris-interview-conspiracy-theories/

Which is fine, these are the type of die-hard MAGA supporters referenced above who, are never going to be persuaded by Kamala Harris and would still vote for Trump no matter what happens, hell or high water, death or illness. Also the same reason not to do the interview with a complete MAGA zealot like Hannity etc. you won't be reaching anyone who isn't already entrenched in that same siege mentality.

Its a reflection of how bad a candidate Harris is that Trump is in the position he is.

People view Trump as the lesser of two evils.

Alot of people that will vote for Trump will not like him as a person, they just believe he will do a better job than Harris and Trumps policies will be better for them.

But wouldn't Rogan just center the whole conversation around the usual culture war shite he obsesses over? I don't see why she'd want to engage that.

I don't think Rogan's shows are about actually interviewing people. They're more just long form pub chats and by that yardstick they're a perfectly fine listen, depending who's on of course. While he can have interesting people as guests, like Rob Zombie, Quentin Tarantino or Edward Norton, he can also have total twats on like Tim Pool, Steven Crowder or Alex Jones. Although I will say the latter was fascinating car crash TV. IIRC, Jones claimed that the Nazis had iPhone technology and were in communication with aliens too.

    🤪
