yeah and had a fine wins over patrickswell twice , kilmallock and na piarsaigh this year alone , i dont like the structure in the limerick championship , doon qualified for the semi final 6 weeks ago , its too long to wait it would e great to see them win it , but could you trust them

its the same as watching colm boyle rip it up in an all ireland semi final back in the day only for him to deflect in an early own goal in the final , some teams are just jinxed 😂

Dead right, I went straight from kilmallock to an underage game I'm not great at social media but a friend is a whizz on twitter so I messaged him for scores on the nap match he couldn't find anything anywhere on it. Surely not good enough

They won't get a better chance with p casey out but I'm not too sure myself, p/well with 14 men and missing one of the best inside forwards of the modern era had doon in trouble midway through the 2nd half, as I said had they scored some of those poor misses doon would have been under serious pressure .

Doon have great players all over the pitch but it'll take a huge mental effort for them to get over the line.

    I hope they can

They were never really in trouble though. Patrickswell got within 4 for about 10 seconds after spending most of the game prior to that down by ~10points. It was a comfortable win and they were almost out of sight long before Gillane got sent off. Its about time Doon got this monkey off their back. They are playing well and have a full fit squad for the first time in last 6-7 years.

Bit of a ruthless edge to Doon, Barry Murphy down injured at one point when they were dominating, Darragh O Donovan absolutely roaring at him to get up and get out of the way rather than wasting time when they had the breeze.

The Morrisseys have signed up for the hurling/shinty international in Ennis in a few weeks.

Anyone not supporting NaP will be supporting them. It would be great to see them win it.

We'll never know now but had p/well have taken the scores you'd have expected them to they might have been, of course doon might have driven on as well my point being though recent history would suggest they wouldn't have.

But I do agree doon won't get a better chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,573 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Ah come on. How are you trying to twist a team who only scored 1-4 in the first half and lost by around 12 points into a close run thing. Doon have been excellent all season and the Well have been pretty crap all season so it was no surprise.

The Well took an absolute battering, Doon were clear winners and that's the only story here.

…and Patrickswell were cat all Championship as it was. Only the way the format is gave them a handy path to the semi-final (and they nearly blew that)

I don't agree , yes of course doon won big in the end but as i said maybe considering doons recent history had the well scored the 4 or so in a row they missed around the 20 minutes mark which would have brought it back to one it might have turned out differently.

I'm assuming you were there so yea?

The game is available in full online. Zero debates, Doon were clearly the better team. There was a clear difference between the two sides and it was a fair reflection on how the two sides performed in the previous 5/6 rounds.

The funny thing about what if’s is they only get applied to one team and not the other. Let’s consider Patrickswell’s missed chances while ignoring Doon’s. A team that misses 4 chances in a row does so on account of making the wrong decisions, rushing the shot or just plain fluffing it - it’s not bad luck.

If Limerick had taken their chances at the end of the Cork game we could well be talking in terms of the undisputed greatest team of all time now; but they didn’t. The fact we missed those chances in the closing stages doesn’t point to what could have been; it points to how ultimately we didn’t deserve to win that match in the end.

i followed the last 15 minutes on the NAP twitter page , it sounded like a seriously exciting finish espically coming from 5 points down with 7 or 8 minutes remaining

i wont be too hard on limerick , it takes clare gaa nearly a week to upload highlights of games they have shown on there website , and today i went online looking for the lineups for the cork hurling final pre game and found nothing on the examiner , the echo , twitter , the two clubs twitter pages not even a photo of the program , its no wonder people are complaining of the split season

    Graeme Mulcahy has retired.

Brilliant servant. That score late on in the 2018 final when it all appeared to be falling apart helped steady the nerves and was the one that got us over the line in the end. I’ll mainly associate him with celebrating winning turnovers half way back the pitch, he was never found wanting for effort.

    5 All-Irelands, 7 Munster SHC’s, 3 NHL’s, a 2018 All Star.

A great servant to Limerick hurling. Was there through the good times and bad. Always gave it 100%.

    Enjoy your retirement, Graeme.

A great reliable hurler for Limerick over a long career, best of luck to him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭lim4ev

You're missing my point it wasn't the fact that the well missed the chances its the fact they were given them is what I was saying it wasn't as clear cut as the score suggested. I think doon are far superior to p/well. Remember doon were the better team in last yrs semi and were sucker punched with 2 late goals.

By the way in case yer thinking I'm anti doon I'm not in fact I used to say if they can get over the line they'll dominate limerick hurling.

But now I think they'll struggle to beat nap I have no idea if p casey will be back( I doubt it) plus David Dempsey i know he missed the semi.Doon should have a clean bill of health they may not get a better chance

I thought he was the hurler of the yr in 2018. What a great servant

Is it true Peter was togged out on the bench for the semi final?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,573 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

He was operating as one of the sideline team I am told. Looking pretty sprightly though by all accounts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,605 ✭✭✭High bike

Great news hopefully he comes back as good as ever,he would have made the difference last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,573 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

There's a fair few players deserve a full clean run at next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭lim4ev

I think we deserve a break re injuries. I heard Peter was togged out alright but have no idea how close he is to returning. I suppose it is around 6 months at this stage so you'd never know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 299 ✭✭Munsterbhoy

Is there anything to be said for moving Kyle Hayes to centre half back for Hannon. Cork kept the ball away from Hayes from puckouts in the semi final. A player who needs to be more involved imo. Nash to wing back or would it be crazy moving him out of the full back line. Just really looking ahead for when Declan calls it a day.

He wasn't togged to play, but was there in tracksuit and runners. According to Dalo's podcast he's been on the training field so potentially back soon. In retrospect, that injury was one of the most significant moments of the year, particularly given Flanagan didn't have the greatest year aside from the Cork game.
