HKC Alarm Fault

Hi All,

Alarm went off for no reason today and stopped a few mins later. I now have 3 errors on the panel, Int bell fuse, Ext bell fuse and Ext bell tamper. Any idea what could have happened and how do I sort this.

The alarm wasn't set today and herself is worried it's going to go off in the middle of the night again.

More than likely an issue with the external bell itself if the fuses blew.

Thanks, do you think water maybe got in there? I will have a look tomorrow when I have time.

Any idea what fuse each takes and if they are easy to change?

Could be any number of reasons for the fault, but it only showed once it activated, which points to the bell itself.

The fuses are located in the main control panel, if its a 6/10 or 8/12.

The 10270 would have resettable fuses that reset once fault is cleared.

Ok, so I opened the main control panel and the 2 bell fuses are blown (Vertical row of 4 fuses and top 1 and 2 were blown.).

I didn't open the bell yet as I didn't have fuses to replace.

I am wondering if it is easy to bypass the tamper switch in the bell or just disconnect it. I am not worried about anyone accessing the bell at the front of the house.

I have fuses now so it would be as handy to disconnect the tamper switch to avoid any false alarms going forward.

You could and use a 4K7 resistor across the BHO and Tamper return in the panel.

There should be one in the external bell, if none loose in the panel.

When I put the resistor across BHO and tamper in the control panel, do I remove the existing yellow and black wires or do I leave them attached and insert the resistor. Sorry if this sounds stupid.

Not stupid at all.

Yes, leave in the BHO wire (could be the black cable) but remove the tamper return cable.

Ok, I have bigger issues. All faults gone off the panel now, but bells not sounding. I set the alarm and activate it. I can see on the keypad that the alarm light goes on but no sounding alarms. Unset the alarm and no faults showing but I'm guessing the alarm should be sounding. Anyway, I guess this is a job for a specialist.
