Harris' support among Republicans is up past 9 percent in recent polling.

According to the latest national New York Times/Siena College poll, conducted between September 29 and October 6, 9 percent of Republicans polled said they planned to support Harris in the November election, up from 5 percent last month.

The NYT/Sienna poll is the #1 ranked poll in 538's pollster ratings.

Nobody anticipated it perhaps, and yet, it is apparently occurring.

I shared political commentary from Boris Johnson earlier, which you dismissed because it didn’t align with your narrative. I assume you hold the same disdain for Giorgia Meloni? I wouldn't be surprised.

Meanwhile, you seem quite comfortable citing unstable governments reactions to Trump as though they set the standard for reputable opinions.

I provide evidence for all my claims, and when something is unverified, I qualify it. You're welcome to ignore it, but that speaks more to your selectivity than to my reasoning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

It speaks to your selectivity, you made a claim requiring multiple citations of leaders the world over allegedly supporting Trump… and you chose 1 … and it was Boris Johnson 😂

Now you're suggesting Australia is politically unstable? More rubbish.

I think either the Fake accent thing comes from her just pronouncing names correctly, or it's just something right wing twitter claimed to hear, and people deciding that must be the case.

It will be dropped in a few hours. They will cycle back to something else.

If they havent walked away but now this is hardly going to turn them.

Her path to victory is getting voters out……. not turning them

Unstable governments? I cited the former PM of Australia. You want unstable governments, look at the Tories since Brexit took root! So that's not evidence of anything, it is just nonsense.
Reputable opinions? You mean coming from Boris Johnson, who had to step down in disgrace?

In all this deflections, noted you haven't actually provided a single shred of credible real evidence to support the Trump lies you repeat here, or the obviously manufactured criticisms you are trying to drum up about Harris, which are entirely without merit or foundation.

Come back to us when you can adhere to a credible coherent standard of criticism, applied to both candidates and so actually criticise Trump, instead of being duped by his lies. Trump claimed Governor Kemp couldn't get Biden on the phone, Kemp is on public record as having saying he had just spoken to Biden, and that he had no issues in comms with Biden. This all could have been established by you before you dumped his lies here but nope why bother with facts and evidence and pass up an opportunity to spread Trump's lies?
You even tried to double down on it AFTER it has been discredited and fact checked multiple times on the thread.
    Utterly disingenuous.

So your "selectively" is transparent, it is not fooling anyone - when it comes to Trump it is hear no evil, see no evil, see no evil.

So if Trump posts a scurrilous lie, you are unable to subject it to basic scrutiny, and will repeat it here.

If there's an empty criticism of Harris going around, likewise, you are all over it.

If the criticism could be equally applied - or with more validity applied - to Trump… nope, not a peep…. the silence is deafening.

So if you are so concerned about false claims on the thread, you were mentioning bleach earlier, where are any of your posts challenging false claims made against Harris? Or a false claim coming from Trump or in support of him? You claimed to be concerned about them, should be easy to produce such post shouldn't it?
And the fact that you won't be able to … discredits your pretence here enitrely.

The *no role* is from a santis quote not from me. So if Simon Harris was on TV having a beer while a category 1 storm was flooding cork and Kerry you wouldn't have a problem with it ???

Trump is now money on and the Democrats are getting desperate so they have resorted to wheeling Obama out.

Barack Obama is one of those people who are often wrong but never in doubt.

    One Narcissist vs another.

This didn't happen though. She took a single sip of 1 beer on a late night talk show on Tuesday, October 8. Helene came through North Carolina on September 27th. Your ask is an extremely disingenuous one.

She spent even longer on the program, well ahead of the portion involving the beer, raising awareness to hurricane rescue efforts and dispelling Hurricane misinformation such as some of the utter drivel people shared earlier in the thread:

Trump has literally been found to be a fake, or fraud if you will, in court. With actually verified documents, yet you call Kamala fake??

If you seemed so concerned about the betting, weird we didn't see any posts from you when Harris was had lower odds?

You'd think before posting this you might check what did Obama do in 2020… don't let the facts or evidence get in the way of an opportunity to try to insult a Democrat eh? Epic fail there.

The Democrats won in 2020… and this was Obama being "wheeled out" in 2020 on the campaign trail for Biden.

And yet, if Obama hadn't been out showing support, we'd be hearing you Trump supporters claiming that it was a sign of dissention in the ranks or something.

Again you have claimed the Deep State is supporting Harris. Why didn't they have Obama out earlier to avoid seeming desperate?

It doesn't look good though does it ??? Supping beer on TV in between 2 major hurricanes, one which was to land in florida within 24 hours of her broadcast If I was a voter in any of them states Carolina, florida etc I would be livid. Let them eat cake is what it looks like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,477 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Not a good look if you would be livid with a politician using a chat show interview format to spread hurricane awareness. If Simon Harris was on the LLS, and as part of an interview mixing serious and relaxed content, drove home important messaging on how to stay safe… I don't know any good faith voter who would hold that against him.

If they want to be livid at a politician with consequential inaction at this time…

Hurricane Milton’s rampage is not swaying House Republican leaders who oppose returning to Washington to approve billions of dollars for disaster assistance. President Joe Biden on Thursday said lawmakers should return to Capitol Hill “immediately” from their preelection recess, echoing pleas from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers from the afflicted states.

No calls from Trump to do so.

Some interesting early voting data coming out of Pennsylvania. Seems Democrat votes are outperforming they numbers from 2020, which would be good news for Harris. Long way to go yet though obviously.

I dont remember many other former presidents hanging around Washington after their term was over.

Why does Obama keep seeking the limelight, he was instrumental along with Pelosi in having Biden not run for a second term.

    Thats chalk and cheese.

Simon Harris the Taoiseach, leader of the country. Kamala Harris is VP of a country.

We don't even have similar roles. Their President is not the same with powers as ours is. Out Taoiseach is kind of like a president, but really he's the leader of the house of representatives....

I'll put it this way, if there was flooding in Wexford, and Michael Martin was on the late late that night, and after he had expressed his sorrow, and his thoughts for the people affected by the storm and explained how they were helping (Just like Harris did on Colbert) and later on in the interview, after a couple of ad breaks and to finish the interview off in a light-hearted manner, the host said, "People always say you should judge a politician on whether you could have a beer with them, so Michael, would you do me the honour and share a beer?"

I wouldn't have a problem with that at all.

    Like everything, context is key.

And yet, if Obama hadn't been out showing support, we'd be hearing you Trump supporters claiming that it was a sign of dissention in the ranks or something.

This isn't even a counterfactual: people literally did this, here, on Boards, within hours of learning Harris assumed the head of the ticket. They jumped straight to 'Obama endorsement watch,' demanding to know when Obama would come out and endorse Kamala Harris and why it didn't happen within moments, etc. etc.

I am a voter in one of those states, and my family in the other.

Not only do we not give a toss that she took a sip of a beer or had the audacity to «checks notes» take an interview, exactly like Harris critics have been pressing she should be doing more of for weeks now, but it's also something of a tradition down in Florida to have a few beers during and after a storm (what else is there to do but sit in the dark/shelter etc? You're not going to work). You're digging for a there there, but what you're looking for remains entirely unclear.

Here she was the very next day, before landfall in briefing with FEMA. Exactly what else are you expecting? What will be your next dramatic outcry?

Not a Chief Justice Howard Taft fan then?

    (*psssssst!* He was a Republican.)

Sorry, I thought your claim was that the deep state was desperate in bringing out Obama to support Harris now rather than before.

Why are you changing your narrative already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,590 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Same people have no problem with Trump flying in for a photo op and therefore affecting emergency services due to accommodations having to be made for his arrival as well as that of additional press & secret service and setting up a place for him to address the press, and then flying back out and spending half his evenings at his own rallies complaining about Whoopi Goldberg and the other hosts of The View.

But Harris doing a TV interview while Biden/Harris have already offered and collated support with FEMA for the affected areas…. well she may as well be drowning Florida citizens with her own bare hands…

all voters don't think like you or your family. Just making the point it was a very poor move by Harris in such a tight race and doesn't look good but that's just my opinion.

Yes, ignore the question and quickstep onto the next RW talking point provided to you…

Hilarious and pathetic in equal measure.

…and of course you can point us to your source for these "huge concerns"?

Jokes aside his Attorney General - who also endorsed Kamala Harris last month, said it's 'not in his nature' to get involved again in Presidential politics. Though it seems clear GWB is horrified by what Trump orchestrated in Afghanistan, at a bare minimum. Must have been revolting to learn Trump wanted to invite the Taliban to Camp David - on 9/11, to sign their agreement trampling over the democracy in Afghanistan, that Bush had staked his entire career to foster.

I think it only matters to MAGA obsessives and will not actually have any determining factor in the election. At worst, it might instead gain her some votes in Minnesota, where the 'champagne of beers' is brewed.
