    I’m genuinely embarrassed for you.
Did you even watch the interview?

Anyone else getting 2020 vibes with all the non answers and conspiracy theories?

I'd say every bloody episode of '60 Minutes' is edited to some degree.

It has to be if they're to fit the programme into a specific timeslot.

    🙄

The sheer ridiculous and self discrediting depths that MAGA idiots will go to to try and generate some kind of controversy is absolutely limitless.

You made a claim. You stated a fact.

You do know they had to edit Kamala's answers on 60 minutes.

It's unbelievable that you're still falling for this stuff so many years later. Get better sources.

…Trump is running away from interviews that the American public will see, but happy to have secret chats with dictators. Trump doesn't value the approval of the American public, but that of Putin and the dictator set and his big money quid pro quo donors like Musk.

You give Trump a free pass for all of this, yet try to find any kind of scurrilous nonsense to try to attack Harris with. Blatantly transparent double standards.

As multiple posters have explained, and you could easily have established for yourself with basic scrutiny (isn't google your friend too?), this is not political interference, it's a total non event. The interviews are regularly edited for broadcast and the full interviews is online … So you have been duped by another piece of MAGA propaganda.

Meanwhile @drunkmonkey returns to his search for that elusive MSNBC clip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,459 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

I said it was the episode that aired. Which was edited. Hopefully they'll release the transcript for transparency. It was not edited to squeeze it into 60 minutes, she made a complete dogs dinner of her answer that's why.

    Hilarious.

Imagine thinking anything broadcast not live wasn't edited?

"We are at 59 minutes, time for one last question. Are you a dog or cat lover"

    Thinking

"Well, I would have to say, growing up, I always wanted a…"

Interrupting, "And that's 60 minutes, ladies and gentlemen. See you next week."

And then the non edited parts are available online!

I wonder did people moan about this when Trump and Biden's edition ran in 2020?

And I pointed out that they do edit and always have done. They included the complete response online and there was no word salads in either. It's a 20 minute interview, it's not exactly shocking that they edit. Just now every edit is viewed to be a conspiracy theory. There's a reason that only the British daily Mail and a single fox news article is treating it like a national scandal... 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,459 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

So they took out the salad, if Trump gave an answer like that we'd have Pat Kenny bleating about it this morning. Instead we'll probably be treated to him fawning over her as the most competent presidential candidate in generations.

It's the same folk who believe the carp that Anderson Cooper 'shut off' E Jean Carroll during their interview to go for an ad break, while in reality the interview was recorded offline

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,015 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

I remember being in America while an interview with Hillary Clinton aired. I initially thought it was a trailer because it was edited so much but it was actually the program itself. Significant editing for prerecorded TV political interviews is very common in the US. Might have something to do with the crap attention span a lot of people have these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,509 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

The clip I linked to has the supposed word salad... Guess what, it's not.... If you include half the clip it could be interpreted as such but obviously that would be pretty stupid. So it's a manufactured scandal that absolutely nobody outside of Trump supporters care about. 😂

Also given Trump's long history of spouting nonsense, it's a weird route to go.

If you make a claim, the onus is on you to back it up. MAGA conspiracy theories are just obvious nonsense.

Multiple TV appearances are certainly the way to go but she needs to hone her message to the swing state voters and ensure they know what’s in it for them - these specifically are white, low income and less well educated voters -every article I’ve read this morning it’s all about the polls in the swing states being neck and neck - she has to differentiate herself and outline the prize for these voters

Love this move with Colbert because its very middle America to "want someone I can have a beer with" especially when Trump is so anti-alcohol and at least in private apparently shows such high levels of disdain for those who do enjoy a drink, shes is once again doing something he will never agree to do and continuing to point out how weird he is as compared to the average voter.

A daft book by all accounts and a huge question of why bother? At 177 pages it’s ridiculously short for a biography (probably not surprising though given the audience that will read it) and by the sound of things a lot of fluff. I thought if written well, this could have helped shine a different light Trump through Melanias words and unique perspective to some undecided voters through a soft focus lens. It won’t. And considering she’s apparently asking ridiculous amounts of money for interviews, potential swing voters won’t hear anything about the book from her on daytime TV as channels just won’t pay the outlandish fees (250k I read somewhere) she’s demanding .

A lost opportunity to help her husband- given its release date this has to have been by design and so it has to have been part of a plan to raise Trumps profile- you’d be an idiot not to see that - but like the gold plated apartments in Trump tower and the $100k Trump watches, it’s fickle and shallow in the extreme, which is not surprising, but I don’t think it will help Trump much either.

“She blames the Trump campaign and a staff writer for her 2016 RNC speech being partly plagiarised from Michelle Obama. Admitting it contained “undeniable similarities” to Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention Speech, Melania accuses the campaign’s team of “failing to implement even the most fundamental safeguard.”Another staffer comes under fire for Melania’s handling of the January 6 disaster in DC.“I wasn’t aware of the events unfolding at the Capitol building . My second White House chief of staff failed to do so. Had I been fully informed of all the details, naturally, I would have immediately denounced the violence that occurred at the Capitol Building.”Throughout the book, Melania blames the media for quite a number of things, Democrats for more and “cancel culture” for additional evils.”

Even with a heavily edited and pre taped interview, Kamala doesn't have that ability to send out a clear message

Harris canned evasions still aren’t actually answers to the big questions of this election: What she really believes, how she’d offer “change” from Joe Biden, what she plans to do, or why anyone should expect any of her policies to work.

What 'heavily edited' pieces are you referring to? Have you examples and proof?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,979 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

In the first instance, you can see the full interview, so your point is moot.

In the second instance, it is a two horse race and the other candidate Trump can't even handle 60 minutes interview, and flees from fact checking.

    So what's your point?

IF she loses this election, I think that’s where her limitation will lie - her ability to convince and her ability influence and persuade. At the start of her campaign I was hoping for steady as she goes approach and she did that perfectly in fairness to her- but given the polls are so close now, that’s not enough - I’d like to hear passion and clarity and strength and belief in what she says and less waffle - it’s extraordinary we are where we are but the reality is, polls are too close to call so she obviously hasn’t demonstrated yet what she needs to demonstrate to the voters who will decide this election

As compared to trumps meandering word salad response to any question he asked?

From the NY Times: things we learned. It sounds like it was a deep interview with Howard Stern. Clearly, discussing her elliptical routine and cereal choices are the crucial talking points needed to win over swing voters.

Still haven't clarified if Trump's statement that foreign people are poisoning the blood of America is disqualifying in your view I see?

Still haven't disavowed Trump for saying Harris was mentally ill.

Instead, you would rather criticise small talk with her in an interview.

Doesn't sound like you are seriously contributing to this discussion in my opinion.

Yes it does. It's called proof that what one writes is truth and not fake news as practiced by Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,509 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Stern is light entertainment so it's not gonna be particularly in depth so hardly shocking. She did go into Trump being manipulated by the likes of Putin etc. Odd that you didn't include this part of that article. 😂

Trump lied about Biden, Kemp and Hurricane relief. You reported his lies here on this thread. When his claims were shown to be lies, you did not criticise him. Or can you show us where you did?

So despite being duped by Trump's lies, despite Trump's conduct being reprehensible during an emergency… from you… nothing.

But Kamala Harris in a media blitz where she does a mix of serious and casual interviews, you feel that's worthy of comment?

Pretty transparent double standards isn't it? And why your posts about Harris cannot be taken seriously or as anything other than partisan propaganda when you overlook Trump's actual conduct in favour of trying to manufacture some some of criticism out of nothing v Harris.

Interesting that we have had a quite a few "centrist" posters return over the last couple of weeks. And all pushing the same doesn't do enough interviews/talks gibberish/has no polices position.

Were I a cynical gentleman, perish the thought, I'd probably think they were repeating what MAGA social media told them.

As I said before, when I was talking with a friend who consumes a lot of that stuff I knew what he was going to say - the same "stuff" as we're getting served here.
