If there is anything you want on Amazon check the price trends for it on camelcamelcamel.com. You'll notice some items always go down for Black Friday, Prime day etc. Obviously stuff that has been reduced in the past on those days will likely be reduced the next time there is a "sale" day.

Wake me up when it's all over.

CamelCamelCamel is good. I like the keepa browser extension more. Inserts a graph of price history at the top of each Amazon sales page. Very handy. You can set price alerts from there also.

I see they have early reductions in kindle scribe and they are overcharging VAT again. They seem incapable of sorting it out.

There's a story that goes around about a coder who once joined a company, made one code change on his first day and quit. Apparently he fixed a long standing bug that had been annoying him as a user of the product. If someone could just take the hit and go sort this out, I am sure we could get a whip around for a pint or two.

risky having to work 5 days on site if it’s a tough fix!

quick browse through the ‘big deals’ this morning. Absolute rubbish, mostly tat or prices higher than previously.

30% off Amazon Resale is no better not found anything decent that the offer applies to.

Edit> So been through my massive wish lists and found a couple of bargains, reductions on items that are rarely reduced but, a 15% "Prime Big Deal" really isn't enough to set me off on a buying spree.

Was due to purchase 2 things last week. Decided I'd wait until this week. More expensive even with a big red "Prime Deal" banner on it...!

Prime day seems like such a massive con.

Did find one thing from my wish list and ended up buying it the lock pick set I posted in the no chat thread. Decided as I was feeling miserable I needed a present.

Still not found anything at all with the extra 30% discount in Amazon Resale.

it’s marketing and catches a lot of people and bring huge traffic to the website

I don't know if I'm a bit unusual (rhetorical question) but I've just had a tot up of all the items I have on my wish lists. I stopped counting at 400. Now if I see anything I'm interested in that is just too expensive I chuck it on a wish list and keep an eye on the price. As an example I wouldn't buy all of the 15 different fairly specialist socket sets I have on a tools wish list but if one of them was a 50% off I then its starts to look like a bargain particularly if I know the price history. Then I must admit a few on the wish lists have become historic items at this stage and some are items from third party sellers with expensive delivery charges that I might buy if Amazon stocked them with free delivery.

Anyway point of the story is after going through more than 400 items I only found one Prime Day item that fell into my definition of a bargain.

Amazon Fire TV stick is £17.32 with the 4k model at £40.98 if you have a UK address. They're £46.11 and £71.73 for Irish customers. God I do miss Parcel Motel

Bought a microwave today for £107. It was on a hkud alert this morning at 104cand on the site at 104. Gone up in a couple of hours

Still a good deal for a 28L Combi oven

I have stopped using the wishlist and just keep such things in the basket. Whenever I go to the basket amazon lists which items in it have changed price since the previous visit. And for anything more important I set up keepa price alerts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,964 ✭✭✭ForestFire

Anything in my basket on offer, if I join prime, has gone up in the last few days or weeks and no cheaper today. I'd say about 10 items out of a total of 30. The other 20 no change or offer or gone up with no offer (maybe tomorrow)

I'll Take a closer look tonight if there's anything else but not very hopeful

I remember a time waking up early to browse the prime offers and typically buying lots of stuff. Had a quick look at lunch and can’t see one thing I’m even half interested in. Trust in Amazon is low, and camel helps validate this.

I plan to again cancel my prime once we finish the latest clarkeson farm series.

    €316 down to €203 ....allegedly!!

Hope it's ok to ask this here , but just wondering if anyone knows if the above is a good deal ? - I'm not really tech savvy & getting more confused the more I try researching !! - (it's only going to be used for internet browsing & maybe a bit by kids for homework)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Edit.......sorry couldn't even post a working link to it 😕

Got a great deal on Kenwood food processor, €138 from warehouse deal with 30% off, price in IE around €250. It was the last one. Hope it's like new as it said

Got the Soundcore noise cancelling earbuds for €36 so happy with that. Was ready to purchase a 4.1L Philips Airfryer in the expectation it would drop from €80 to €50ish but it hasnt dropped at all, only the XL version is discounted. It was my first time shopping for an airfryer after 7 years of owning the current one and its astonishing how many different models, versions and shapes of them there are now. Ninja must have 20+ models alone.

Had a rumble through the Warehouse as well but its just junk I dont need, nothing decent there. Might get a dash cam before the sale is out, anyone got a recommendation for about €60 or under?

just on the airfryer after years of Philips the last couple of models had to get returned and considering the money they cost it’s not really on, we moved to cosori they often have 50 quid off so might be worth a look
