Ahmadinejad never said that he "wanted to wipe Israel off the map". His exact words were "this occupation regime over Jerusalem will vanish from the pages of time". Meaning that Israel would eventually collapse under its own issues.

A very different sentiment indeed, and into the bargain he was quoting Ayatollah Khomeini.

Apologies. It can be difficult to figure out sarcasm sometimes from posts. I'm assuming you were being sarcastic but in case you weren't, what exactly do you think they mean by never surrender? Another coup attempt? Civil War if they don't get what they want?

I guess they didn't go into their hatred of unions this time. Worth remembering that Musk is one of the reasons Unions won't back Trump...

There's something deeply wrong with that Musk fella.

He's a danger to himself, his companies, his family and his country.

Time for the Dems to go to absolute town with their $$$$ I feel. They have a big dollar advantage and need to use it.

No problem. Happy to educate! 'Never Surrender' encourages people to stay committed to their beliefs and values.

The republicans pay people to canvass door to door.

    The democrats rely on volunteers.

    Maybe time to change tactics.

Allegedly Trump, at his first meeting with Putin in Hamburg 7 months into his presidency in 2017, asked Putin for his advice "what do you think" on whether the US should arm Ukraine. Putin is said to have replied "that would only be a mistake" that Ukraine would only ask for more.

Rex Tillerson, Trumps Sec State, [who was fired by Trump early the next year] was present at the meeting. Trump said later that he was perfectly prepared and did very well at the meeting.

Step forward to 2024: Ukraine has been front and centre in the 2024 presidential campaignWhen Trump met with Zelensky in New York last month, he used the opportunity to declare his support for the Ukrainian and Putin as he once again claimed that he will end the war. “We have a very good relationship,” he told reporters as he stood with Zelensky.

“And I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with President Putin,” he added. “And if we win, I think we’re going to get it resolved very quickly.”

It only remains to find out who the "WE" are.

That's the problem with trying to assess a contest that is taking place on such a broad canvas. How can we really know what is going on 'on the ground'?

Especially when, in this polarized age, we naturally seek out sources of news that confirm our ow preconceptions and biases. It becomes very hard to make an objective assessment. Look at this thread for example - there's very little analysis going on but lots of partisan anti-posting (mostly in reaction to Trumpian trolling). Which might make us feel better but it really doesn't help us understand what is actually going on.

I did have a good chat with a colleague (black, middle-aged professional) who lives in Bucks County, PA this week. A very purple area in the ultimate battleground state. He said that the feeling of most people is a longing for it all to be over. He thinks Harris will carry his state and that people are tired of Trump - but that the entrenched positions are worse than ever.

That sounds like 'never change'. Which can be atrophying and lead to societal, cultural, political and economic decay.

Change is constant and we all need to find a way to live with it. Trying to stop the tide of history is pointless.

And if we get another attempt at January 6th? Cause his rhetoric is very much so building up to rejecting an election loss...

I really would like to see the Harris campaign go full-on negative on Trump himself. That's how you win. If that sounds dirty, it is.

It's not like Trump hasn't given them enough material. 😀

Musk has ensured that the Republicans are cheaping out on this and have virtually no one door knocking.

The personal Trump campaign is sucking up a disproportionate amount of Republicans cash starving all down ballot campaigns and all on the ground canvasing of resources.

The Republicans party is going to lose multiple positions in the house because of this which even if he wins will make him a lame duck president from day one. It's a disaster.

Most gracious of you but commitment to beliefs and values have led rather a lot of supporters of those beliefs and values espoused by Trump and Musk to commit acts of violence, fraud and other illegal acts which landed quite a few of them in jail, with Tina Peters being the latest example. Slogans are all well and good but considering the number of issues Trump supporters seem to have with interpretating what he actually means; perhaps it might be wise for them to maybe follow up the their slogans with some clarifications on what they mean. Less opportunity to land yourself in court trying to defend some garbled message you thought you got from Trump and Musk.

what are you taking about? That’s all they ever do. Partly why she’s struggling so badly- they’re only message is “Donald trump is so evil” and can’t stand over her own pathetic poverty fuelling record

I think he may have misunderstood the power dynamic:

It's funny that the right wailed endlessly about perceived interference from Twitter in 2016 and 2020 and now they're fine with actual interference because it suits them.

I think we’re going to have to bank on an at least an attempted repeat of Jan.6 with the option of being pleasantly surprised if the MAGA movement fails to organise at all in the aftermath of an election loss.

I will hope that the Federal and DC security agencies have learned from 2021, and will have contingencies in place should any concentrations of Gravy Seals (or random MAGA chuds cosplaying as Gravy Seals) start to appear near the DC Capitol, or at any of its State-level equivalents.

What am I talking about? Smash Trump on his moral character 24/7.

Remind every voter in every swing state that he is a convicted rapist and fraudster. On a loop. Non-stop. These are legal facts.

    That's what I'm talking about.

I have a friend who lives in Texas and is also a die hard Trumper. I don't try to bother him about his vote mainly because it feels wasted effort on my part. But every time he brings up the election I do try some form of character assassination on Trump. He's a criminal, too old, too fond of Putin. None of it works.

While it is incredibly frustrating that no amount of logic seems to get through to him I do glean bits of information from him that seems quite positive. He's said to me that he feels Texas will be very close this year and that Cruz may lose to Allred.

Now that doesn't mean that Texas will flip blue. But part of my optimism this year comes from a simple thought. If Texas, North Carolina/ Florida are looking kinda purple at the moment(They are margin of error in the polls and even one of these flipping would be the end of Trump) how close realistically can Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Wisconsin be? Part of me thinks that these states MUST be overrepresenting Trump in the polls.

It's just a thought but I dunno. Makes sense to me anyway. Maybe the polls are just best ignored tbh.

Isn't there a danger that approach would backfire with genuinely undecided voters. I think you'd have to say anyone even considering voting Trump at this stage either doesn't care about that stuff or doesn't see it as a priority, which amounts to the same thing. And if the Harris campaign is banging on with "Trump is a bad guy" 24/7 aren't they giving these swing voters the impression that's all they have to offer?

I agree that because Trump has been adjudicated as both a rapist and a fraudster, he has no real business near the highest political office in the USA.

However, if people need to be reminded of Trump's personal and professional failings, particularly of that magnitude, then something is off. These shouldn't be things that people forget, presuming they find those characteristics objectionable.

The best case scenario is that this constant reminding convinces just enough of whatever fence-sitting voters are left to vote for Harris. For most on here, this would be preferable, but it leaves the USA with the seemingly unsolvable problem that somewhere around half of their electorate are willing to look past every flaw of Trump's, no matter how nasty, and this leaves them primed to be rallied and goaded by a never-ending procession of hucksters and creeps who peddle bile nonstop.

Long term, the shadow of something that may utterly destroy the USA as we know will still loom large even if Harris wins, and what will done about it?

He won’t have the presidential office to protect him this time - if incites a riot he’ll be arrested like a common criminal
