^ I don't mind that it didn't work as maybe intended.. although it only happens occasionally, it adds an authenticity to it.

Having an additional live task ready, needing to be setup, filmed and all could be a bit jarring if you were in the live audience too.

I think as well that whilst scoring is merely a vehicle to move everything on, it would seriously undermine the show if they started binning 'completed and scored' tasks. There has to be a winner and everything that the audience (live and/or at home) sees forms the show.

Whilst they do not use some recorded tasks, the audience and contestants don't know who won them (either because we don't know who was fastest, who was disqualified or who Greg would pick as the winner) so its a lot easier to not use them because nobody could claim that 'X should have gotten 5 points'. Not using a live task where someone could conceivably win an episode or tip the season in their favour would not be a good look for the show's integrity.

The live tasks haven't been great for a while. Think they should consider using some of the tasks they used before. Emma was was excellent last night. Always thought this show would be right up Jack's street. He was excellent last night also.

Am Yisrael Chai - Bring them home.

NZ and Australia have had some good ones. In particular, the latest series (S5) of NZ had some great live tasks (items on the table, playing with the band, photogenic photo, office chair roll)

Jesus.. these tasks are the pits!

That was fairly rubbish, contestants don't have much to work with

I saw someone mention elsewhere that there's a good chance the tasks about remembering the mannequin names would probably have been cut if not for Jack Dee wearing the Hot Dog costume, meaning they had to air it.

Yeah unfortunately a poor mix of tasks this episode, either too restrictive or the doorbell task was nearly too open-ended and no-one really took the chance to do something interesting. Still like the contestants in general though, they're all pretty likeable.

I found myself wondering are orange socks mandatory for the contestants

Not a great episode poor tasks as others have said.

Emma and Andy are good fun as expected.

I really don't want to be mean, but it can be really hard occasionally to understand what Rosie is saying some of the time which really is important in a show like this.

We are huge fans of TM, watch the Aussie and NZ ones too. Haven't watched a single episode of this season - just can't bear Rosie Jones.

She is winning me round a bit in truth, has been better than I expected. And ultimately she is only 1/7th of the show. I don't think she spoils it like Catsdown type shows which rely on quickfire back and forth.

gmisk - I put the subtitles on for her parts, it helps.

Rosie was very good with her prize task and doorbell task. She did very well to come up with something like that for the doorbell task.

? the birthing alex thing you thought that was good?

ETA its the most route one hackneyed thing, Im not getting on the bandwagon but lets not say that something is good when is not.

In fairness, she at least did something somewhat interesting with a fairly poor task idea. Even Jack Dee was the only one who realised he could take the camera off the wall and he still just filmed the manhole that was at his feet (which was kinda funny in itself).

You're not alone, cannot stand any show she's on, an automatic switch off for me

Rosie is a fairly huge dose but Jack is great so it balances. Just.

This week's episode was the best of the season I thought (a low bar) , I enjoyed the art task (Klimt one was terrific) but I have to say I especially liked the cheaters table quiz!

i havent got into the international versions as I find Greg is too big a loss but holy mother of god New Zealand Season 2 is just outstanding. Its up there with the UK Season 7. David Correos NEEDS to come to the UK version himself with Greg and Alex would be unmissable.

Hes the perfect contestant like a cross between Ed Gambles enthusiasm mixed with Johnny Vegas complete commitment and tragedy with a healthy hint of Rhods psychopathy.

    "IT GETS SOOOO MUCH WORSE"

    "gutteral wailing"

"I'M GUNNA DROWN YOU....IN YOUR OWN BLOOD"

Guy Montgomery was pretty hilarious aswell tbf and was perfect complement to Davids madness.

"I can't wait to hear his Christmas song" (while Laura and Paul are just speechless/concerned at David's rap)

And possibly the greatest quote ever after Alex telling Kerry they'll be alright.

"Its an incredibly cruel irony that David wasn't allowed to damage the caravan but it seems the caravan has permanently damaged David"

Season 2 of TMNZ is an all-timer for all the Taskmasters. David Correos was a task tester in Season 1 of Taskmaster NZ which is where they realised he would be the perfect contestant. He was outstanding that series but they were all fantastic and they gelled so well together.

You're missing out by cutting off Antipodean Taskmasters. Season 5 of TMNZ was also incredible and Season 4 was very very good. Season 2 of Taskmaster Australia was also brilliant and Season 3 has just kicked off.

The live task tonight was awful, also shouldn't Babatunde have been disqualified for the carrot task. He was practically running

Thought the exact same for Babatunde.

Season is turning into a bit of a dud, all being said.

Don't think it's particularly the contestants fault, but the tasks has been pretty poor throughout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,529 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Yeah I would have expected at least a discussion about Baba running but it was completely ignored.

As for the live task, same with the drinks one from earlier this season, in a way it's needlessly overcomplicated, but that then allows for it to be won far too quickly and ruin the whole task.

Still an okay series so far, but no particular highlights either.

Caught the first 2 episode kind of but missed the rest. Last few seasons have been a bit disappointing TBH. Last good season IMO was with Johnny Vegas and Katherine Parkinson. I though Jack Dee would make up for some of the other comedians, perhaps he has.

Series 13 & 14 were great. Series 13 had Adral O'Hanlon, Bridget Christie, Chris Ramsey, Judi Love and Sophie Duker, and Series 14 had Dara O'Briain, Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chuwawa and Sarah Millican. Both series were excellent with great tasks, some fantastic moments and the casts were really great.

I'd easily put Series 14 up there as one of the best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,190 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Yeah would agree largely with that, not a fan of Dara TBH, perhaps its just the last few.

This felt like the most appropriate place without starting a new thread.

I've 2 tickets to The Horne Section for Sunday evening. Face value table seats if anyone wants them, PM me.
