Sorry for hijacking the thread but does anyone know if I can use my 2 reward flights for 2 adults and then add an infant to the booking?

This is at the bottom of the email about the reward flights:

    Children under 16
Don’t forget all flight bookings for children under 16 must include an adult on their booking. If you plan on travelling with children under 16, for example if 2 adults and one child plan to travel you will need to request the Aer Credit Card flights for one adult and one child, and once these flights are confirmed the second adult can book a regular fare on aerlingus.com.

Surely that doesn't apply to an infant who won't be taking up a seat? It would probably work out more expensive than just booking 2 regular adult fares and paying the infant fee.

were the proposed changes a better benefit than previously?

I only switched to the Aer Card in August. Today I received a letter from BOI apologising that the Ts&Cs are now not changing and offering me €400 compensation.

That's a daa lounge. It's the sole Aer Lingus lounge in the corridor between the terminals that it covers

Does anyone know how long it takes for Avios points on purchases on your Aer Card to show on the Aer Club app?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,742 ✭✭✭✭L1011

They come in monthly, mid month I think for the previous months bill. Can't log in to check the dates because the website is erroring out!

Might be slightly off topic, but does the BOI Banking 365 app send payment notifications every time you use your card? Always found this to be a convenient feature with other banks.

So here's an interesting one, according to B&Q I had followed a link from https://direct.mediasource.ir to get to their site instead of the aer club site so no avios are being awarded on my €100 spend, all very strange

A bit of a downgrade from my last credit card provider so. Maybe I'll get notifications if I use Google Wallet?

Not sure, must try it myself, I have only kept my BOI credit card, and recently converted it to the Aer Lingus card so I have somewhere to lodge a cheque if required given Revolut is my main bank.

I despise Irish legacy banks given they are so ****.

do you know what exactly the changes were? I was thinking of switching to the Aer Card, heard off a colleague that there was a significant downgrade on the aer card recently and looking for clarity! Cheers.

Nothing changed for existing users. There was a document up claiming the rewards would change; but they didn't - if you applied for a card expecting that you would probably want something for it, e.g. the €400 being done preemptively.

The proposed changes were to get rid of the "free" flights, lounge passes and fast track; increase the earn rate by a third and give 40,000 Avios once a year once you'd spent €10,000

Some changes are probably coming if they were that close to making changes, but obviously not yet.

Question: I recently used my free flights and the whole thing was a bit confusing to me. I thought the fare was just a basic fare (so no checked-in luggage), but on my return fare the boarding pass mentioned 'cabin bag' …does this mean that I get to bring the cabin bag on board the flight? Or just that I have to check it into the hold along with everyone else? I didn't notice any of this on the outbound flight because I decided to use the fast track security/priority boarding ticket …that experience was also hit and miss because the woman boarding us at Dublin airport looked like she had never seen a priority boarding pass before except for business class and elite frequent flyers.

Afaik and stand to be corrected

You get 1 x 20kg checked bag and 1 x 10kg but the 10kg has to be carried on board , you don't get the option to check that in .

    Q of my own

How long does the credit card application take ?

Submitted my documents online Monday evening , but haven't heard anything since ,going give them a ring tomorrow if I don't get any update

I just converted my classic BOI card and it took a week, probably faster as no credit check given limit was being transferred. In saying that heard nothing till the card landed on doormat.

During the summer BOI had a massive backlog of applications, basically if your application went for manual underwriting you’d be waiting nearly six weeks. Must have come down now but I’d call just to check all is OK

    off topic -

If any Aer Credit card user here not planning to use or about to expire their lounge access or FastTrack/priority boarding passes, I would be grateful to have them. we are family of 4 travelling with Aer Lingus next month. i have only 2 passes in my rewards section so looking for another 2 if available with any one. thanks

When does the AerClub app update with points from using the Aer Card? I've been using it for a few weeks now and have earned zero points!

Thanks. Is there a set date or is it set at 30 days from when you activated your card and then the same date every month going forward?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,742 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Its always within three days of my bill date, but not always the same number of days. So once a month, sort-of fixed.

    6th/7th of every month.

I finally managed to book the free flights! Have been trying sporadically since April. Wish they'd stuck to the Plan B of just giving us loads more Avios points , but happy enough with my free trip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Used mine for London, had 8,000 avios built up as well so got 3 return tickets for about €120. Not bad value all things considered

Is it also normal for no points to be showing under the "pending" section of the Aer Club app? I guess there's no information shared with the BoI card, even though you can link it on the app.

Still waiting on my credit card / decision

Stuck on stage three of four on track your progress...after applying on 16th..

Last time I rang they said they would escalate it, very frustrating , never had issues like this in past with credit card applications

Pending points are from estore on the Aer Club app, not the credit card.
