Agreed, galvanised was specified from early 80's in the UK at least I heard?

So we're probably safe enough then with CV100 as long as we have the EPS/PIR board on the inner leaf.

The other consideration that I had around CV100 was that it cures and expands better on warmer days - so I wanted to have the walls done when it was mild rather than a frosty day... small things like that.

    Hi All,

Would anyone have an update on this? Does anyone know can Walltite be used when availing of the SEAI cavity insulation grants.

I believe the product has to be NSAI certified to avail of grant. I'm trying to get an answer from NSAI on this but they are slow to respond. I had heard that certification was given in the past few months but can't find any proof of this.

Has anyone first hand experience with walltite and walls cracking?

    Thanks

Have you searched the certs on the SEAI website, or asked an installer?

Regarding first hand experience, no, but I had an offline chat with a boardsie who had it done on a new build (IIRC) and had suffered cracking on internal plasterwork.

A building surveyor who I spoke to recently reckoned it wouldn't be a problem on my house as the walls are almost 40 years old, but obvs that opinion is worth as much as I paid for it, which is nothing 😀

Still haven't got around to getting it done though, too many other projects…

So internal leaf of a cavity wall. Was it localised or across all walls, can you tell us? And was there remediation beyond filler and paint required?

Yeah, movement of the internal leaf.

I don't know how extensive but from what I dimly remember he said it was a pain in the arse to fix but he'd still do it again. Second-hand info so whatever that's worth.

I'd expect any decent installer to be upfront in terms of risk assessing possible issues with cracking, but TBH I don't think I'd do it on a new build, when beads are properly certified and lower risk. There is some appeal of air tightness through the cavity in a retrofit, but a new build should be tested to meet air tightness requirements whatever approach is used, so why bother with a potentially problematic and uncertified approach?
