Although I agree it’s a silly argument, there actually is no way she would be using Bluetooth. The US government disables Bluetooth on all its ‘phones. You will note that all government keyboards and mice are wired as well. Reduces hacking vulnerability.

    So whats the explanation here.

The Deep state you believe controls all media and government spends years opposing and sabotaging Trump including master plans to infiltrate his cabinet and judicial nominations.

But then doesn't have her write something down on the paper for their photo op, giving Trump ammo.

How does this make sense in your view? Cause to me it looks contradictory.

Shall we just appreciate for a second that, in addition to all the extra distractions that his visit entails for people in the middle of active rescue operations, he has people waste time and energy that could be spent saving lives to build a sham miniature wall out of loose bricks?

I used to think it was good to see both points of view on threads like this. I deleted twitter because people would just write lie after lie claiming it as fact.

"Apparently Governor Kemp cant even get Biden on the phone"

Did you really believe Trump was telling the truth when he said that Dingaan????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,025 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

"Did you really believe Trump was telling the truth when he said that Dingaan????"

“He didn't say that. And if he did, he didn't mean that. And if he did, you didn't understand it. And if you did, it's not a big deal. And if it is, others have said worse!"

    This explains it all…

They believe any old rubbish off the internet.

If trump or right wing media make a statement as fact, you know it needs to be factchecked.

The fact trump lied about this just shows how disgusting and dishonest he is.

    He’s not a leader.

I think there are a bunch of different possible explanations for the way the photo is; maybe the phone on the desk isn't the one she's making the call on and the earphone & mic are plugged into a different phone or a built-in communications unit, maybe the cable is there but with the way the phone is angled the end of it isn't visible it drops down below the desk and comes back up due to the length of the cable. Probably other possible reasons.

If anything, the less likely explanation is that they had her put the earphone in and then didn't think to plug it into the phone. I mean it's the most basic thing to do and think of.

Not that it matters, because even when Trump and his supporters can't find something to criticise, they'll just make sh*t up like saying Biden never called Kemp.

I mean taking shots at Kamala for what they perceive to be a faked photo op, but when Trump literally makes a false accusation, not only with no evidence but utterly denied and proven to be false by everyone involved... silence.

Saw this on Twitter, and sums up Trump's narcissism and grandstanding.
And still there are those who seem happy to be duped by such obvious grandstanding.

So today Trump accomplished nothing, did nothing of substance, tied up first responders and volunteers, drew attention to himself, made himself the story, exploited a tragedy, told lies about Gov Kemp & Biden, and divided Americans again over something that should unite us

And this was what Trump actually did as President when Governors requested Hurriance assistance inn 2017.

We requested $900 million for Hurricane Matthew recovery, but will receive just $6.1 million -- less than 1% of the resources we need.

    https://x.com/NC_Governor/status/862309937430573056

Weird that the people so quick to jump and shout yesterday when they fell for Trump's lies about Georgia have not a jot of criticism, either for Trump lying or such conduct. But then they'd have to admit to themselves they were duped, or admit they knew it was a lie all along but they are happy to spread Trump's lies.
And admit they are incapable of telling the difference between real leadership and the real help coming from the Biden-Harris administration, and a publicity charade from Trump.

Trump has also threatened that if re-elected he would withhold Federal disaster funding eg to combat wildfires from California because of their laws protecting endangered species.

The man is scum and doesn't care how many people's lives he ruins as long as he gets his power trip.

I qualified my statement with 'apparently,' thus not implying certainty of all the facts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,298 ✭✭✭randd1

Nope. I stand by what I wrote.

And the more I see of Trump and his supporters, the more I’m leaning more towards them being mentally challenged. They’ve definitely gone way past weird.

You repeated Trump's speculation that Harris was mentally impaired.

Did you establish that as a fact before you endorsed it?

Some basic research on your part would show that randd1's assessment is shared by a sizable and growing number of Repubican politicians. Are we to consider them wrong simply for disagreeing with you and Trump ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,375 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

And yet we never see you posting similar stuff hedged with 'apparently' when it contains critical points about Trump, do we?
Demonstrates the total hypocrisy of your previous post, where you were complaining about a lack of research and the need to know the facts?
Yet you have proven here you can't or won't do such basic research yourself, at least where Trump is concerned.

It is obvious you are happy to repeat Trump's lies and propaganda here. You are just using 'apparently' as an excuse to spread scurrilous drivel emanating from the Trump campaign. No sign coming from you this incident will lead you to subjecting Trump's garbage to more scrutiny in future is there?

But at least we have established that when you use the word 'apparently' your post can be assumed to be garbage Trump lies and either you can't or won't subject such claims to basic scrutiny. And what whatever the facts are, they won't come from your posts.

This is from the guy you are advocating for. So here are some facts for you with respect to this guy.

    image.png

He puts his fragile ego on full display, his xenophobia, his inability to tell the truth so much that him accusing the leader of country of planning to assassinate him is only the 3rd or 4th thing that comes to mind when reading this nonsense.

He could be in a position in 6 months where he is responsible for diplomatic relations with Iran in what is a highly volatile environment and rhetoric like this is completely inappropriate.

Trump could be President, there are many people guaranteed to vote for him given the 2 horse nature of US politics, but he is so far from being fit for the role it is incredible.

He lowered the bar in 2016, he did so again in 2020 and now he's digging deep to lower it further. I hope so much that he is beaten conclusively in November and that those in the Republican party who rolled over to enable him are dragged out the door with him.

    😂

"Now I'm not saying this is true BUT, apparently, what I've heard……" qualifies every statement……….. apparently.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I really couldn’t give a damn about either name calling photoshoots or who phoned who when. In my view the biggest threat of Trump getting re-elected is the war in the Middle East- we know Trump outdoes Harris in the polls on the issue of “feeling secure” - we know white under educated voters will likely favour Trump over Harris on this issue.
Biden is a lame duck president now - his hands are tied given he needs to give Harris a chance to get elected - so supplies of artillery etc will keep going to Israel, much as I’d say he’d prefer to move towards a ceasefire.

It is a version of weasel words.

Using weasel words may allow one to later deny any specific meaning if the statement is challenged, because the statement was never specific in the first place.

Undiscerning so? Also ignored the fact that a politician showing up at a disaster zone is incredibly unhelpful. Can you point to what benefit there was with Trump being present? All I'm seeing is unnecessarily diverted resources.

According to this tracker Trump hasn't fallen below 43% across the campaign and is probably averaging round 45%.

I can't think any of these cover anywhere near 45% of the American electorate

an ultra-religious household in the US,are a racist, or severely mentally challenged.

    So that leaves this one

grew up in a Republican ‘til-I-die house in the US

It seems 10s of millions of perfectly sensible, moderate, mainstream but committed Republicans voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and are all set to do so again, irrespective of whatever reservations they may have about his 'character' and 'fitness for office'…

It's nothing but fucking childish bullshit and not worth spending a minute of your time on.

Something we're all very used to from a small demographic around these parts.

It won't even be remembered in a week.

You should give a damn about someone who just says whatever comes into his head, regardless of the truth, for example that President Biden had not spoken to Governor Kemp, when Kemp says clearly that he had had a conversation with Biden and was entirely satisfied with the situation, it represents his relationship with honesty, reliability and trust. It was not a misunderstanding, or mis-speak, it was a deliberate and outright lie. This is the person who should deal with foreign leaders? This is someone who can be trusted to tell people the truth?

Of course there are threats of all kinds, including war, but its the undisputable stuff, casually lying, creating division, general muck-stirring, that are the easier to dispute than threats of potential issues. His attitude reflects his personality, and it is not a personality that should be anywhere near international diplomacy.

I hate to be the ‘copy/paste’ guy but in an era where email forwards are dead this is how I’m sharing this. Robert Reich sent a reminder mail about the terrible things Trump did during his presidency. Here’s the first 10. It ran to many, many more.

#1. Trump fueled division and sparked a record uptick in hate crimes.

#2. Murder went way up under Trump. In fact, he presided over the largest-ever single-year increase in homicides in 2020. A number of factors contributed to that, but a big one is …

#3. Gun sales broke records under Trump, who has bragged about how he “did nothing” to restrict guns as president in spite of …

#4. Under Trump, America suffered more than 1,700 mass shootings.

#5. Trump said there were "very fine people" among the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville.

#6. Trump allied himself with the Proud Boys, a violent hate group that helped orchestrate the January 6 Capitol attack.

#7. He got rid of Roe v. Wade, and brags about it constantly.

#8. One of Trump’s Supreme Court justices was Brett Kavanaugh, a man accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

#9. Trump’s White House interfered in the FBI’s investigation of Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assaults.

#10. Trump has been convicted of committing 34 felonies while in office. The criminally false business filings he got convicted for in New York? All of them were committed while he was president.

This is water. Inspiring speech by David Foster Wallace https://youtu.be/DCbGM4mqEVw?si=GS5uDvegp6Er1EOG

Trump supporters are not mentally challenged. They are poorly educated, have lived in an information vacuum for most of their lives and are easily fascinated. Most are religious and identify positively with theocracy. They're not mad, they're just poor and stupid.

Trump is described as a "high floor , low ceiling" candidate.

His support never drops below around 40% and never gets above around 45%

He is functionally incapable of expanding his "base" and his base are incapable of seeing him for what he truly is so his support levels simply never move.Republicans are starting to raise alarms about Trump’s ground game

Survives assassination attempt - No movement

Says something utterly disgusting - No Movement

Openly lies about something - No movement

Trumps electoral success relies on two things - Maximizing the turnout of his base and minimizing the turnout of his oppositions voters.

The first part at least would appear be not going so well -

Republicans are starting to raise alarms about Trump’s ground game

Trump has effectively outsourced his ground operations to Elon Musks PAC who is (surprise surprise) half assing it with almost zero presence on the ground. No one is knocking on doors and doing the boring grunt work that is necessary in US Elections.
