The last show on Fox tonight

Just realized Smackdown is on across the road from me next week and it's the first show on the USA Network, definitely will head for a look now.

Smackdown was okay. It's definitely the lesser show at the moment between it and Raw.

There's some good stuff there but it feels a bit repetitive. I feel like they're in a holding pattern a bit with some stories.

Vinci losing so quickly is probably more interesting than if he won against Crews, let's see if it goes anywhere, was funny though at least.

The US title segment was great. Thought Andrade came off well and the matches between him and Melo have been excellent. A triple threat would be a strong match, they deserve a spot on a PPV at this stage. The sells of the BFT looked class there too and it doesn't always look good.

Well it's a good job there's never outside interference in a cage match.

Legado El Fantasma looks like a poorer version of the D'Angelo family. Seeing her there I was thinking I can't remember the last time Elektra had a match. Since coming up in Jan/Feb, she's had a Battle Royal in February and a singles match in April.

Chelsea is entertaining as always. Michin falling flat from the apron to outside looked sore.

Crews set a new record for the fastest pin? Vinci needs his NXT entrance back.

Bought a load of tickets for tonights show so looking forward to it now with a good group of us going. If anyone just so happens to be in Seattle, I have a free spare ticket if interested!

    Enjoy

I wonder will Reigns get involved in the cage match between Solo and Cody for the title

    Best Smackdown in a bit.

Production wise. I like the new match graphics, not sure about the theme song (although they rearely use them), logo is a decent idea but not sure about the execution it can look like 'Smack Sown' a bit. The end credits got a laugh out of me too.

I know people some people are feeling Bloodline burn out. Moments like this make it worth it for me. How this many years later they get mileage out of it is impressive. The cage match was pretty good overall, bit slow paced at times, probably one of Solo's best matches, I did think the ending was a bit flat though. The Bloodline climbing the cage was a great image and Roman making the save was excellent. Him teaming with Cody just feels big , Mega Powers vibe, and they've got such a money match teed up with Jacob Fatu and Roman. I also saw a tweet saying this could be a seed for Randy to turn on Cody. After all the scrapping Randy has done agains the Bloodline, Cody is teaming with the guy who founded them. This version of Roman too could be super over. Unapologetic, no nonsense taking down the Bloodline. Crowd rocked for the whole show but this stuff especially.

The Women's division on Smackdown is looking well. Lot of things going on at least. Not sure how the tag team for a title shot thing will work but it is intersting. I like Michin but I don't know where this Chelsea Green/Piper story goes.

We all expecting Kevin Owen's partner to be Randy so that whole Ricky misdirect was hilarious. A nice subversion before we got to the Viper. The internet might meme that man into another James Ellsworth.

Andrade/Carmello do great together. Hope they give Carmello another programme and Andrade gets a good boost from feuding with LA Knight, cause he's not going to win obviously.

I enjoyed the cage match and thought Solo looked good for the first time in a while. The way they kept Jacob from Roman during the chaos was very good.

They have done a good job of making Nia appear interesting for the first time. I actually don't feel the need to fast forward anymore. Herself and Tiff together has helped with that and the pretty deadly link up helps.

On the other side Bayley and Naomi are shocking. They are terrible with a Mic near them and are just annoying. Bayley is brilliant in the ring though, she is well into her 30s now so the childish presentation is not needed, they should move to present more like Becky and Charlotte would be - as serious competitors.

Yeah in general there is a distinct lack of good mic workers in the female division. All technically solid in the ring but just caricatures on the mic which takes you out of it.

Solid Smackdown. The Cody "I will, I won't" thing was a bit stupid and if I'm honest, it feels a little too early to see Roman and Cody team together after carrying two Mania main events but I can get on board with it I guess. Fatu is a made man, strap a rocket to him cos his aura is incredible, it almost eclipses Romans and he was gone for months.

I do think that Randy and Kevin have legit reasons to turn on Cody now he's teaming with Roman and hopefully those strands get explored over the next few months. Bloodline kayfabe took 18 months off Randy's career and Roman literally handcuffed Owens to the ring ropes and tried to get Sami to murderise him, it's not like they had a minor disagreement 🤣

Orton/Cody could main event a Mania if done right.

Great fun live - but the part that had me marking out was Kevin Owens original partner haha. Bought our new ring from him only 2 weeks ago haha. Ricky Gibson - part of a tag team here called the Midnight Heat and they are amazing. He runs the pro wrestling school in Portland too and we arranged our Lince Dorado and Paul London seminars with them.

Solo "he don't like you, he beat you" 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,547 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

The shot of them both standing in the ring and you can hear Solo shouting it in the background cracked me up. 😂

Ricky getting a good meme reaction online, wonder does he get another spot on Raw as they're in Portland tomorrow. Work is mental unfortunately, would head down for it otherwise.

Smackdown is in a bit of a rut. Bloodline vs Owens/Cody. Owens teasing a heel turn. Nia/Baley. And now they’ve announced Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes VI for next week.

I feel like if you’ve seen one episode of Smackdown for the past 8 weeks you’ve seen them all.

Like Andrade/Carmelo Hayes have great chemistry but Andrade already got a US title shot out of this and lost so continuing the carmelo feud is a step back and pointless. They should have made Andrade/Hayes a best of seven after like match two to determine a number one contender for the US Title.

I quite liked Smackdown but I can see your point too.

Really dug the LA Knight/Andrade match, even though it looked a bit messy at the end and Knight looked pissed, think he got caught with an elbow. The Carmelo promo and fight backstage looked excellent too, like surprisingly legit looking. As for them feuding again. Odd choice, they've had great matches but where it leads, I'm not sure.

Obvious ending to the women's tag. Wondering if Bayley or Naomi will turn. This feud needs something. Chelsea Green is the best, love her work. The women's division needs more mid card feuds like this.

I'm finding the Bloodline interesting again tbh, not every week but the last two weeks at least. While I think Solo is improving, they look so much better without him. The 'pat down' segment was great. Tama doing his weird 'Beavis as Cornholio' noises had me laughing too. They got a strong heel reaction which is good to see. The Owens tease too.

I also thought the Cody/Roman segment was awesome. Looked crisp, some great lines, they just have excellent chemistry.

I don't think Tiffany landed that swanton on Nia, missed

A good segment between Cody and Roman

Will Nick punish, suspend or fine Jacob?

Tama was terrible on the mic

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 57,036 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Liz you just don't like Tiffany😂 I've never seen you criticize someone as much!

The weird thing about the whole Owens stuff is that.... It's hard to disagree with him? Like Roman made KO's life hell for almost two years using every trick in the book against him. Turned his best friend against him. Now you can see it happening again. He's not the bad guy here but WWE will try and sell it like he is!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,208 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

If I got a euro for every missed Swanton that was sold as a hit, I'd be a very rich man.

Since when is there only 1 solution to there being 2 winners in a number 1 contenders match? If anything the only solution would usually be a triple threat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,537 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I actually don't mind Tiffany "Paris Hilton" Stratton, her gimmick works and even as a heel she is over, I just do find her moonsaults swantons sloppy though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,208 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I couldn't help noticing Cody and Roman were driving along the centre of the road a couple of times.

I still feel solo is dragging this bloodline storyline down...they really need a talker on the mic and someone genuinely intimidating as the leader....solo never gives the the impression he's going to win against any of the top guys

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,721 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Weird thing is that in his own, in a match without the bloodline around, he is actually more believable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,537 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I think ultimately Randy is going to be the one to turn heel, turn on Cody, it's the money feud, KO is the tease turn

I was confused by who in this Bloodline was the tag champs, I thought Fatu was one or Freebird rule

Having not seen them before WWE, I have to ask were the Tongas considered good? Just they come across as pretty much the JD & Carlito of the Bloodline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭Cotts72

Tama Tonga yes, so far he's been very toned down more of a henchman than a leader which he has been previously

Tonga Loa is there to make up the numbers I guess! Decent worker and good when part of guerillas of destiny...but never going to flourish as a solo wrestler...not even as Camacho!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,614 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Cody been the one to turn would be something else but think you'll be right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,487 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Fatu feels like a star and has a great aura.

Solo and the Tongas are charisma vacuums and don't belong in the main event scene in my eyes. I find it very hard to take the group seriously as a result.

There's definitely money in a heel American Nightmare but not just yet imo.
