I think you are seriously wrong here. The very latest poll give Harri a 49.9% to 46.2% lead in Ohio. Here is my source, what is yours?

So the vast majority of Americans think that "having a nonpartisan civil service is important for having a strong American democracy

Trump is planning to gut the civil service on partisan basis.

But we are being told it is only Democrats saying Trump is a danger to democracy…

That's a national poll , the question I was responding to was about Ohio.

There don't appear to be any Ohio polls in the link you provided

You're not reading that information correctly.

Thanks, I realised that too late when I posted: I was searching for Ohio data, and Nationwide data came up.

No worries , the site you linked to isn't the most intuitive. If you pick a State that doesn't have a local poll it shows National data without really being clear it's doing that..

He’s preforming so well right now that pollsters don’t have the ability to call the election right now - that’s worrying - so I believe it is right to call out Harris now while there’s still time, whatever the criticism may be - it’s too late in 6 weeks time to speak up about any faults she may or may not have.

I don't think you're one to criticise those who might reed incorrectly, think you'll be maized when the penny drops

Not disagreeing with much, but tbf Barron is involved when it comes to the campaign as its him and Dana White choosing what podcasts Trump goes on. Its not as involved as the the idiot older sons but its an important role nonetheless.

It was 60/40 in favour of Harris last week and it’s now back in to 55/45.

Whatever Trump is doing, it’s working can’t believe this.

Looking at the developments in the Middle East, it was well known that a good olde war coming up to election time would help the current president get re-elected - well while there’s now a serious threat of Lebanon being invaded and America no doubt playing a part somewhere, this can only be good for Trump given his higher perceived rating on the area of country security.

Harris needs to get on top on this and try and calm it down - if Israel invades in next few weeks, this will benefit Trump - I’ve no doubt

I don’t thing it’s “personalities” at this stage - it’s simple “concepts” - ie economy, security, war situation, fear, employment
I reckon Americans would probably neither candidate would win but they have to chose one ultimately - so they’re likely going back to basics and choosing based on the above concepts

The phrase, "Don't change jackasses in the middle of a stream" comes up when there are Presidential elections during a war. A war in Lebanon that doesn't directly involve the US, I don't think moves the dial anyway. If somehow the US is involved, that's different and likely favors Harris as the virtual POTUS. Now, if a war in Lebanon blows up oil prices fast enough to impact the US economy in the next 5 weeks, that could impact the vote.

As for personalities versus concepts, well, concepts aren't Trump's strong suits. Babbling soundbites is all he has. Employment is good, crime is down, border security is as good as it'll get with this Congress, and the only fear is eating dogs in Ohio.

I don't think you're reckoning is based on anything sound, just opinion. Americans are casting their votes already - mine is in.

I’ve seen this sort of reply time and time again on this thread - I’ve taken dogs abuse as a result - I personally don’t care at this stage - the Republicans for whatever reason that no one here at least can comprehend no less explain, are leading in many aspects of this race, regardless of what “proof” people may cut and paste about how the economy is really doing.

Republicans have created a state of fear (dog eating etc) - fear breeds doubt.

threat of war brings uncertainty, especially in the areas of economy, security and prices relating to oil - it’s not complicated - very few here on this thread are voting in this election - you appear to be the exception rather than the rule . Regardless, the election will rest on how fearful the voting public are- fearful - Trump - not fearful - Harris

PS- Trump doesn’t have to “deal” with concepts - that’s the voters job! But then you need to think just what impact “drill baby drill and dog eating” comments have on such voters - people continue to laugh - it’s by no means funny.

The thing is, posters are saying "Oh, what should Harris be doing better?", while ignoring the fact that Trump could announce that under his watch he'll reduce taxes for Republican states and increase them for Democratic states and his fans would believe it. I still think it'll come down to new voter registrations in the swing states.

I don’t care what nonsense Trump is saying or doing- we’ve had that for 8 years - impact at this stage should be the only discussion - what do you believe is the impact on the election of this latest “thing” of Trump - and maybe why he’s doing this now? Next 4 weeks will see beyond crazy for Trump but it will always have an angle

It's also important to never underestimate the power of the "f**k that guy" vote in politics

Plenty of times in history that people have supported a cause they don't agree with because they hate the establishment more

I think it's what both carried Trump to the presidency in 2016 and lost it for him in 2020

While it might not be enough to change votes, it could be enough in this instance to discourage people from voting.

There's plenty of people in swing states who've felt the pinch of inflation and while they might not vote for Trump, they could see Harris as more of the same and just not bother voting for her

She'll need to really command the airwaves with plans to get prices under control to get the message across.

She needs to be better with the sound bites too, something to get her policies across easily. I know it's extremely reductionist but she's appealed enough to people who are interested in politics, now she needs to get through to people who are apathetic and will listen for maybe 5 seconds before losing interest

After all, she's up against the guy who's promising to end inflation while somehow not causing a recession, and create jobs by cutting the US off from the majority of its export markets. None of those "policies" make an ounce of sense but they stick in people's minds

If Harris does manage to win in November, there is still the seemingly intractable problem of the political division in America. There was something of a hope that when Biden won in 2020 that MAGA would begin to wind down. It hasn't, really. The four years of Biden's presidency haven't really done anything to truly tackle the issue. I don't think there's anyone in his administration or even in the country who has a peaceful solution to the problem.

Project 2025 would just morph into Project 2029 with considerable political tumult in between.

To retool an old phrase, in America, the centrists will have to be successful every time, whereas MAGA will only have to be successful once.

This is an official post. Incredibly disgusting.

This is where I think MAGA are going. They are pushing the boundaries of "acceptable" racism and when they keep their support, they push some more.

I think in this election we are going to find out how racist America really is, under the covers.

I don't see much difference. Americans have a culture of racism and division. This isn't news. It feeds into their attitudes to foreign wars - they generally couldn't give a toss.

I mean, it is a nation founded on an armed revolution, has a very torrid history with slavery (some argue that their criminal justice systems is an extension of that still), civil rights movement which wasn't that long ago.

    It all adds up.

Why is a GOP member moaning about Haitians preferring charges against "our president and VP" when they are not of his party? I don't mind him protecting Biden and Harris, it's just it seems an unnatural act for some-one from Trumps party.

OK. Read a copy of his deleted post, case explained. He sees Trump as his president and Vance as his V/P
