He's still mentioning Springfield at his rallies. What Trump and Vance has done to that community is disgraceful. My understanding is that Springfield was experiencing an economic downturn partly due to a declining population. So the local politicians actively encouraged immigration into the town which led to the current significant Haitian community who have revitalised local industry. So they are in the town legally, where broadly welcomed to the town, have had a positive impact on the local economy, but Trump's racist garbage is saying to deport them because he is appealing to the dregs of the American far right and the gullible MAGA cultists. Even if you ignore the last decade of his behavior, this alone should be instantly disqualifying for the presidency.
