Anyone else driven mad logging into aerlingus now that (for me anyway) it's insisting on a captcha every bloódy time, which doesn't always work. Not even an option to allow you designate your home pc browser as ok for future logins. Very messy. Now, originally, they were sending a verification code to your mobile - but that could be an issue if you had wifi but no network connection. Must be an easier way.

Do the emailed lounge passes when travelling Advantage/Aer Space actually need to be printed off? Or is the email on phone sufficient? Flying from ORK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,171 ✭✭✭✭Stark

If it's in Dublin, email on phone should be sufficient. I think you might have issues in some European airports though. I remember in Geneva anyway, they wanted to keep the hard copy, presumably to submit to Aer Lingus for payment.

I’m my experience if you’ve no status it’s no harm to have it printed for outside of Ireland but if you have status then you don’t need to as they’ll ask for your aerclub number

At JFK, DUB, LHR no paperwork needed, they can see the reservation details

Elsewhere print it out unless you hold qualifying status that would get you in anyway

Apologies if this has been asked already.

Have avios with aer club. Want to book flights with British airways. Seems like should be a simple transfer between aer club and BA account. I keep getting a timed out response when I try on mobile. I tried on laptop and it keeps saying unavailable at the minute. Have tried different browsers too. Any advice?

    Just curious

Do you get better deals with avios with ba over using them with aer Lingus ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 909 ✭✭✭MICKEYG

Hi all, just took a flight paid for by Avios. I am assuming I earn no Avios points but wondering should I expect tier points?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,001 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

I got tier points for a flight booked with Avios

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,872 ✭✭✭pureza

You get much more availability over a much wider network including one world members

    Cash+Avios earns i.e via http://www.aerlingus.com

    Avios rewards portal doesn't earn i.e https://rewards.aerlingus.com/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,001 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

interestingly, I bought a flight on the rewards portal, paid 4,000 Avios plus taxes.

wasn’t expecting anything but received Avios plus 15 tier credits.

Hmm, interesting did you get rebooked or do a same day change to an earlier flight? Flying on my first EI rewards issued ticket Thursday so will see…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,001 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

the only thing I did was call to add a seat. Strange alright as I didn’t expect anything as I thought I read somewhere that you don’t earn on it. Can’t see that online now though

be interesting to see how you go.

So my last two flights have been reward flights with IE - and in both instances I checked-in online within 48 hours of flight time and there was no option to select my own seat. I thought this was usually an option for Aer Lingus …have they switched to automatically assigned seating for all 48h online check-ins or is it specifically because the flights are via BOI CC/frequent flyer miles?

An EI ticket in Advantage as posted as 5 tier points to BAEC. Seems a bit low? Anyone know if this is correct

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,363 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

Advantage is base economy fare class + product extras so earns whatever the original booking class was

Has anyone successfully earned Tier points for flights booked through BA?

Just wondering do they get credited automatically or do we have to follow up?

I’ve added my AerClub number to my BA profile.

Left my kindle on board EI-CVB in 1F last night. On the inside of the seat by my left leg so wouldn't have been immediately obvious to anyone looking. Plane has been out to Amsterdam and back this morning.

Called aer lingus Concierge líne this morning only to find they've outsourced lost and found to some outfit called WeReturnlt. No phone number to call and if they do find your item they charge a minimum of €37 to reunite you with your own property, no option to collect from the airport. No option to pass info along to specifically look in an area of the plane.

Entirely my own fault for leaving it behind but it feels like a very **** experience to have to then pay some other shower to get it back.

Any other inside track to getting it back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭reidman

pretty sure this is the only option, I’ve had to use them a couple of times, search for your item on their site, they usually get it straight off the plan after it lands, can take a day or two to come back - Cust service rubbish but they will get it back to you - good luck

How did you add your aerclub number to your ba profile?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,467 ✭✭✭Former Former Former

Correction, I added my AerClub number to the specific flight itinerary, looks like this has to be done for each trip under Home > My Exec Club > Manage Account > Upcoming Flights

It's an alignment across IAG. EI is moving to the same year as BA and Iberia.

Hopefully this is a step on the journey back into OneWorld next year. I just noticed that EI have numbered boarding groups at the gate to align with how OneWorld prioritise (not the old "Business/AerClub" they used to have. In Geneva I saw that the gate agent had a list of "status pax" on their monitor - something I haven't seen before.

I suspect more changes to make sure the benefits of AerClub are aligned with IAG so people don't game the system, this may well be what was behind the Credit Card fiasco as EI didn't consider the potential ramifications across IAG.

would love to know the story behind the credit card u turn!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 559 ✭✭✭RMDrive

Where have you seen the numbered boarding groups? Haven't flown in 3 weeks so maybe it's a new change?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,222 ✭✭✭BigMoose

Gates in DUB have had them for a couple of months, but it’s sporadic when the “pillars” are put up or not although maybe it’s been more consistent in recent weeks. I’ve never heard them mention the group number, only AerSpace and AerClub and then everyone. In AMS the other day they didn’t even bother with that, just “anyone with carryon” first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,171 ✭✭✭✭Stark

Not sure having more than two (priority+carry-on/non-priority) is a great idea. US airlines have multiple numbered boarding groups and it really slows the whole boarding process overall. Only real positive is the people on the super cheap fares end up being the ones having to check-in their carry-on. But you get that with the priority boarding setup anyway

To be fair, I think it’s supposed to be business, AerClub and status holders only and then everyone else, in an effort to avoid the priority line being longer than the regular one.

Enforcement, particularly at outstations is basically non existent so far.

There's presumably a separate group for non-status but with "carry on" and "everyone else"?
