Actually they believe and repeat any old bullshít in relation to but not exclusively to, Ukraine, Russia, any right wing party (though some actually go as far as to claim they don't exist), any left wing party (all commies socialist etc), abortion after birth, immigration, Jews etc, as long as someone has the ability to speak fúcktard or can put it into a meme and deliver it to them.

Good take from Anthony Scaramucci again this week. Harris will need to follow up her strong debate performance with a lot more media engagement in order to press the advantage. Don't give it up to Trump to go around crowing about how it was really he who won.

I’d go further - get out there and knock on doors - get yourself into the neighbourhoods of the voters your need - it’s probably unprecedented but now is the time to do things that count - too late after polling day

Scaramucci is wonderfully impressive. Great reasoning as to why Trump may not contest a lost election. Scaramucci forecast, before the first debate I think, Biden dropping out and being replaced by Harris. Both had very good analysis on the need for a Harris economic plan for that, middle class who are under financial pressure.

Not sure about this point by Scaramucci.

If he looks like losing, he can:-

    A) Not contest the election, which will mean that the pending trials against him will almost certainly proceed at some point, and which consist of very serious charges concerning electoral fraud and compromising national security. If you put these together with the hush money case, it's hard to see him avoiding a penalty which would be intolerable to him.

    or

    B) Contest the election and possibly avoid this fate. If he's already in the crosshairs for the above charges, what would he actually have to lose by going for broke and maybe getting one more, or avoiding all pending charges completely? In for a penny, in for a pound, as they say.

But consider also that Trump has started to fold the rigged election talk back into his rhetoric, and I mean that in the sense of the forthcoming election. Talk of the 2020 election being rigged never really stopped. And consider also all the chess pieces which his acolytes have been moving into place in terms of trying to weight the election in his favour such as the election denying certification officials in Georgia. Everything says to me that the Trump campaign fully intends to contest the election should it look like they will lose via ballot, and that's by hook or by crook. They know no other way of behaving.

Scaramucci is a cuck in my opinion.

This is a guy who hung out with Trump and helped him get into the White House, he knew what he was like and still participated in his election and then worked for him after the fact. It was only after he got sacked that he changed his tune. I also hate the way he continues to call him Mr Trump, the orange turd does not deserve that sort of deference.

I'm not a purist and neither should Harris be. Take support from whoever, have as wide a support base as possible. Had the start of a good joke on the show. Three men walk into a bar, Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, Anthony Scaramucci. Behind the bar is Kamal Harris.

The punchline has yet to be written. BTW, none of the three men actually drink alcohol and Harris likes the occasional glass of wine.

How bad is Trump that all three named stand fully with Harris?

Well, Cheney is one endorsement that Harris really doesn't need. MAGA has a term you've probably heard called 'The Uniparty', ie what they allege is a superseding neo-liberal coalition between the Democrats and any Republican who has the gall not to bow to Trump, and they must view someone like Cheney as the veritable head of it.

It’s the Daily Mail so let’s not get too excited - but still …any news of descent in the Trump camp can’t be all bad

“Nearly 50 days from the 2024 presidential election, there are signs that Trump's presidential campaign is reeling and even at war – with itself.

Multiple sources familiar with the campaign structure are now questioning whether the two people running the 2024 operation – campaign co-managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita – should keep their jobs.

Despondency over the direction of the campaign has apparently been building for some time.

But, according to sources who spoke exclusively to Dailymail.com, Trump's 'disastrous' performance in Tuesday's ABC News debate against Vice President Kamala Harris and the decision to allow an infamous 9/11 conspiracy theorist to accompany the former president to September 11th memorial events, were the final straw.”

Well the fault can't be with Trump, somebody has to take the blame.

Dopey donald trump is to blame for all of his stupid failings.

What missteps the Trump campaign has made since Harris took over the Democrat ticket seem to be down to Trump himself. When she came on, he hunkered down in his house for what? A week? Two weeks? Gave the media space to her for that time. Did that disastrous interview at the NABJ where he couldn't help go to the racial place.

His campaign have made missteps, but they were decisions which were considered sound by them at the time of their making, like the appointment of Vance as VP nominee or agreeing to a June debate, but changing circumstances dramatically altered the perceived wisdom of those choices.

Please tell me the Republicans can’t nominate another candidate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,431 ✭✭✭circadian

I'm open to correction, while they can change their nomination, if they want to use Trumps campaign money that has been raised then it can only be for someone on that ticket. So, Vance.

those deadlines are all sailing past and in some cases long past now.

Which isn’t to say red states with red benches won’t just do whatever the hell they want anyway (look at North Carolina, the judges went out of their way to ensure the state will miss its ballot deadlines by weeks) but on whole no Trump is locked in.

I think he’s just losing his marbles now a wee bit and it’s made his handlers very nervous. Nevermind that he finds it so hard to find rally sites where he could both maybe draw a crowd and wouldn’t have to pay upfront for a venue (or be caught on the hook for venue bills he’s been dodging since 2016 and 2020), the “PTSD” of the attempt on his life probably doesn’t do him any mental favors either. And yet still he showed the ravages of age when for example he yelled at the moderator, now quoting: “The people on television say my dog was taken and used for food.” (Okay grandpa time to put you down for your afternoon nap)

the originator of the pet eating hoax has come forward, confessing they had no evidence or direct knowledge to support their claims and that they regret how virulently the rumor has blown up (thanks to chronically online MAGA republicans such as JD Vance and others who don’t or can’t campaign on Trump’s policies (Project 2025) or record) she disavowed any intention to harm the Haitian community

Lee recently posted on Facebook about a neighbor’s cat that went missing, adding that the neighbor told Lee she thought the cat was the victim of an attack by her Haitian neighbors.

Newsguard, a media watchdog that monitors for misinformation online, found that Lee had been among the first people to publish a post to social media about the rumor, screenshots of which circulated online. The neighbor, Kimberly Newton, said she heard about the attack from a third party, NewsGuard reported

Newton told Newsguard that Lee’s Facebook post misstated her story, and that the owner of the missing cat was “an acquaintance of a friend” rather than her daughter’s friend. Newton could not be reached for comment.

If Wiles leaves or is fired the wheels will fly off the fun bus in spectacular fashion.

Trump has apparently already backgrounded them and surrounded himself with lunatics.

I think that the "their eating cats" will be the end of Trump. Its a perfect summation of both his racism and his decent into madness. It's also packaged so neatly to destroy any lingering confidence in his ability.

Its a slow burning gift to the Dems - like a cancer in the Republicans camp. I wouldn't be surprised if there not dragging him off in a straightjacket by the end.

I didn't watch the video but does anyone believe there are undecided voters in reality, surely it is just those who for whatever reason don't want to admit who they are voting for and a bit paranoid, some who see a benefit in candidates fighting for their vote and a coupe who might switch. I would put money down that if you done a lie detector test on these "undecideds", there would actually be very few

Yeah. Trump's goal here is not to win the vote, its to get close enough that he can use the courts, or some dodgy shenanigans by stooges the GOP have planted in the states and federal beaurocracy to throw enough spanners in the works that he can get electoral college votes overturned.

For Trump himself, it may be enough to keep delaying certification of the election results as this will continue to delay any federal trials and he feeds on chaos and instability. (Especially if your alternative is guaranteed federal convictions for all the crimes he's definitely guilty of)

Who do you think is the best footballer ever? Or gymnast? Or ballet dancer? What about who is the best accordian player of the last 20 years? Which Kardashian is the best? Who won Americans got Talent or Celebrity baking on Ice in the Jungle ?

To people interested in those areas there would be much debate but I haven't a clue. Similarly, there are plenty of people for whom politics, even news itself, is almost nonexistent.

They probably have heard the names but don't give it any thought. And even if they do they might feel that their vote is meaningless and thus what's the point in wasting time thinking about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,221 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

I get there are lots of undecided non voters, often totally apolitical people, but in the swing states (the only places it matters) , especially if you're a potential Democrat supporter, voting is really hard. People queuing for hours in high temperatures, where its actually illegal to supply them with refreshments or even drinking water to keep them from abandoning the queue....

This is why Trump and the GOP are aiming at suppression of voters rather than convincing undecided voters to vote for them.

Any undecided voter at this stage is so apolitical that they're not likely to find it worthwhile to jump through hoops and put themselves through artificially high levels of stress and inconvenient to cast a ballot one way or another

    Yep, perfect analogy.

As crazy as it appears to us political anoraks, there's many out there that have no idea who Kamala Harris is, or why it's important to vote, or that the Trump image of him being a strong, successful man is false, and that he's actually a weak, conspiracy-believing, bitter old man coward of a loser.

Its also why Trump beats the polls in presidential campaigns while Trumpists in special elections often fall flat, because the voter suppression game is focused on president and general elections, not bi-elections
