Do visitors look in your fridge?

A friend of my son (early 20s) has a habit of looking in our fridge whenever he visits. He only does it when my wife and I are out somewhere.

He’s not looking for anything to eat or drink. He’s just having a nose.

I find it a bit intrusive but mostly I find it weird and bizarre.

He also walks straight into the house if the front door is unlocked (it’s closed but unlocked) without ringing the bell.

Should I be worried? Is he potentially unhinged?

He should definitely be ringing the bell or knocking at the front door and only entering when someone has granted him entry. That's just basic manners.

Could you set the fridge up so that the milk is set to fall straight to the ground and make a mess when he opens it? Might make him realise what a nosey idiot he is being.

sounds like a teenage thing and he is only just out of it

my brother always looks in my fridge, he’s 54… but he’s always hungry and also on the lookout for anything new or interesting

i wonder if he does it elsewhere, he does in our sisters’ houses.

I wouldn’t mind if he was taking my beer but just observing what we have is a bit creepy.

If we were there ourselves, we wouldn’t be slow to put him straight but it’s only ever when we’re out.

Mild sprectrom issue or a tic, combined with looking for novelty and something interesting which is a bit immature for a 20 year old.

Its a bad habit he needs to control

Its very hard to get out of habits like that.

Look at it this way he feels comfortable enough in your house to do it which might be a compliment to your son.
