There was no golden circle when Coldplay went on sale either, but it ended up that way for the gigs. (As in the A, B, and C pitch sections)
I still don’t understand how I was allocated A when all I bought was general standing at the time. I didn’t look into it much either though.

I saw one for €156 but it was gone when I went to buy it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭lukin

That seems to be happening with all of them; when you select "Proceed to buy" they are gone.

Two more dates added for end of September in Wembley

    Slane will surely be announced.

Doubt it. Much more expensive show to put on. Gardai, security, toilets, clean up etc.

Full refund processed within 17 working days. Max price you can sell for is what you paid plus the service charge.

They are doing the wembley shows for the UK fans. They are inviting UK fans to buy tickets first.

Doesn't look like we would be able to get tickets to wembley

Oasis have released a statement. They have said that they are doing a different style of ticketing system for the Wembley shows , to try to make up for what happened last time.

They also said that dynamic pricing had nothing at all to do with them

I am guessing this will be for people who were unsuccessful in the pre-sale ballot and indicated a preference for a UK venue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 834 ✭✭✭Duffy98

What's the deal I wonder if you put down you didn't have preference for Ireland or England?

I presume they'll refund the difference between original face value and the "in demand" price for everyone then... 🤔🤔

🤣🤣🤣 Ticketmaster would probably keep it as a service charge!

Think it’s a matter of time that more added to Ireland too - the temptation for all that extra money will be too great for them 🤪

Although they’ll probably release a PR statement saying they never knew just how popular they were and were overwhelmed with emotion on the response of fans🤮🤮🤮

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,376 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

Might not be. “Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many UK fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster.” it could be for those who were in the queue for UK dates on Saturday morning and didn’t get tickets. They might have that data from Ticketmaster - it’s not very clear.

Not sure if only allowing “UK fans” makes sense here - there would have been UK fans buying tickets for Ireland and vice versa. Why not open it to anyone who was in the ballot or tried to get tickets for any date on Saturday.

The new shows are over a month after Ireland and Ireland was the last shows so there is probably more dates to come for UK/Ireland

Golden Circle to me usually means tickets that are priced more expensive for closer to the stage. Lots of outdoor gigs sell them these days.
Oasis tickets didn't have any price difference or different type of sectioned standing tickets, so there isn't a Golden Circle in the conventional sense.

Coldplay had the B/C stages where they played throughout the gig, so I guess putting people into different sections didn't really make a huge amount of difference?

Not sure if there's been any gigs that have split the standing section like that after tickets have sold out, with just a normal stage for the entire gig?

There were leaked dates that had North America starting the week after Dublin, so that might explain why the new date is Sept

They better not pizz fans off anymore though as they may find gigs aren’t selling out - they’re in big dodo right now for scalping - I’ll only ever go if I get a cheapy ticket - I’m not a “true fan” but I appreciate how fans feel about a loved band -I fcking hate this hype and dragging out sho1te no less blitzing the chances of Irish fans by releasing tickets just before the uk tickets went on sale - that was mean

dynamic pricing could be done for this one, but it ll pop up again with other artists

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,188 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Trying to think positive for a moment with the new wembley dates and timeframe might (big MIGHT) indicate more dates are the on the way which might include Dublin (sure the GAA be delighted to get the extra € when the Intercounty season is over). Suppose opens up for more resales acorss the year

Negative is its only for 'UK' fans which means us Irish who missed out wont have the chance to secure tickets for the immediate. Demand will still be through the roof

Exactly, this is a money making exercise by Oasis, there's no nostalgia about Slane for them. It'll be about economies of scale, set up once at Croke Park and get as many nights as possible out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 308 ✭✭Titanium11

You said "Why not open it to anyone who was in the ballot and tried to get tickets before"

Because their UK fans are the most important to them.

Noel and Liam were born in the UK and lived all their lives there.(I know they have irish parents) They're going to want their UK fans to see them before anyone else.

They might throw a few concerts our way later on

Hopefully you get a free umbrella thrown in with each ticket for these new shows.

Outdoor gig at the end of September, 😮

They've said that tickets for the Wembley gigs will be sold by a "staggered invitation only ballot".

What does ballot mean in that scenario?

I looked up the meaning of the word ballot and it says it usually means "voting done in secrecy"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 12,997 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    I'm only guessing, but...

Probably anyone who got a code last time but didn't use it will be invited to

Then anyone who applied in the last ballot but was unsuccessful will be invited to apply again, another ballot for codes

And that will probably sell it both dates...

Edit: and yeah, they should probably be using the word lottery rather than ballot

It's hard to believe that Oasis didn't know about the dynamic pricing.

But then again I used to know a guy in a band for a time. His band were big enough to have had chart hits.

I saw how little control he had over any decision. Even decision was made by the manager and promoters. The guys in the band had very little say on what happened

The Coldplay Pitch A and Pitch B sections were tiny pit sections and were effectively Gold Circle tickets that were sold at the same price as Pitch C ('regular standing tickets').

I was in Pitch B and would have to say it made a HUGE difference - I was super close at all times (bar one song they did on the C stage) and they were primarily on the main stage.

I'd agree that I don't know any gigs that split the standing section post-purchase.

It was first come first served on who got Pitch A and Pitch B tickets as all tickets were sold under the 'Pitch' name. That 'Golden Circle' (i.e. Pitch A and Pitch B) was just not highlighted by Ticketmaster (which was very strange) when buying the tickets and was only evident in the ticket receipt.
