From what I have seen on here, if you cannot take the interview date they give you, for whatever reason, you are removed from that interview batch and placed into the next batch, to be given another random slot. So by not taking the initial slot, you are delaying your interview slot, and if successful, your place on the panel, placement, etc. by months.

I agree that once you've a date set for interview, it would be very difficult to get them.to change it. But when you do get called for interview, they ask if there are any dates you are not available and they do try and work around that. So telling them you aren't available at this point is not going to affect your chances of being called.

In all probability, they will just ignore stuff like this until they know who they are going to call for interview. As you said, we are just data at this stage. Again, why would you be bothered contacting PAS with when you aren't available for interview if you don't even know you will be called for interview. Talk about jumping the gun 😄

Yeah but telling them you aren't available NOW makes no difference to anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭countyireland12345

I didn't say it did. PAS will take no notice of that and rightfully so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 253 ✭✭Flaker

I never said you did. I was just reinforcing my point.

This thread is becoming toxic you all just need to wait until the next stage if any of us get called in short listings and go from there.

Lol 😆 who cares it's that person's business.

I'm off on the lash in Asia next month so if I pass fantastic I'll be swan faced out there.

Good luck everyone and be nice to each other.

I agree, I think the process is sometimes too long and people are anxious because they would really love the positions,

Fair play to everyone for even going for it because it’s a tough time financially for people and realistically we all want this only to allow for us to live more comfortably and provide for everyone at home and that’s admirable.

I hope you all are successful and get the opportunity to move up in your career and to ease the burden today’s economy puts on us all and for all the various other reasons you individually have :)

While I was impressed with how well I did in the OOM (16 in Dublin), I am honestly not confident enough in my form to get my hopes too high. But at this point, I just wish they would let us know lol

Stressful waiting so long for these competitions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭MaryKaye79

no point to stress about it, unless you’re in first batch you may not hear whether you have passed shortlisting until next year

    good luck

Just as an FYI for anyone who gets an email saying they didn’t make the next stage after shortlisting based off their form, it may be worth appealing the decision. My husband is currently partaking in another competition which is using the new framework and web based form. He got an email saying his form didn’t display enough evidence of a particular competency under one of the essential criteria. He appealed it as he was certain he did. They subsequently reviewed his form and he was reinstated in to the competition.
Human error in assessing the form could have cost him his place. So just be mindful of that when you get results

Could someone please confirm whether applicants are notified when they progress to the Shortlisting Stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭Gillouise

In my experience of the 2022 comp there was no message to say that shortlisting had commenced, only the following message through my public jobs account:

'I refer to Stage 2 Shortlisting for the above named competition. I regret to inform you that you were not successful on this occasion.

A shortlisting board was set up by the Public Appointments Service where they examined and assessed the applications received against the agreed shortlisting criteria.

In order to be deemed successful, you were required to reach the qualifying standard in each area. '

Sorry you didn't get through but that's good to know, one less stage to be watching out and waiting for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 Mr.Jim

I think the results will be tomorrow

Id imagine they are still going through the application forms.. could be another week or so? Who knows, nearly regret going for it at this stage. While I would love to be a HEO, I dont enjoy the stress of interview prep in the lead up.

I think that is part of the whole experience at this stage!! The test of endurance 😂😂

Hey All, just enquiring for a friend. She's OOM 1400 after the last stage, waiting for interview now. Has anyone been called yet? Thanks 😊

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,625 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

They haven't and at 1400 she could be waiting a while 🙈

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,625 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Don't stress over it. It's like that meme of "in 'remote place', you don't eat food.. food eats you!"

In PAS, you don't get HEO. HEO gets you.

Just put it to the back of your mind, get on with your life and everything will fall into place in due course. Just like the civil service.

Also for those outside of Dublin, prepare to wait even longer. From the last competition thread I believe it was November before other counties began getting their applications reviewed and even later for some of the counties with less opportunities.

I'm in a county where I'd be surprised to hear anything before Christmas so I'm putting it out of my head for now.

I email PAS today to try get more info on dates for shortlsiting in Dublin and they replied: "Shortlisting is currently taking place and at present we will be shortlisting to order up to and including the order of merit of 318 from Dublin"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 563 ✭✭✭jules86

Last time there was a panel in place outside Dublin, I believe there is currently no panels in place so I would expect it to be quicker
