Post EP we've had PJ Harvey, James and Pixies. Ride this evening in The Limelight, then taking a few weeks off. Melts in USC, Kamasi Washington and Ezra Collective in the Olympia October and November, hopefully an as-yet unannounced ALFOS in Belfast in November and rounding off the year with Beak> in the Button Factory 12th December.

Feedback on Ride please, and particularly the support Junodream. Working out of it’s worth going in early to the Olympia tomorrow.

I'm not sure we'll make it in time for the support, in work here but have to get the bus home and drive back in again, literally 5 mins walk from the Limelight as I type. F*cking pain in the hole.

It took me an embarrassing few seconds to get the first one. I was like "Hotpress? No. Hot… hot… hot… wha… of FFS man"

Really enjoyed Junodream. I'd go and see them at a standalone gig.

Some great songs, at times sound like the verve but also have other sounds looking forward to seeing them tomorrow

Made a snap decision based on their stupid name and stupid bio. You've made me doubt my baseless hatred. I'll give them a chance. Well done, Penfailed.

They were really good. I heard a bit of Radiohead and Primal Scream amongst others in their sound.

    Ride were fantastic!

We sacked it off. Was knackered after work, think x2 4 day festivals and 3 gigs in Belfast/Dublin throughout August has finally caught up with us. Regret it now of course but I was asleep by the time Ride were half an hour into their set 😂

Hopefully Foster the people do a European tour, maybe Marlay Park? (Can only dream of them playing EP).

Interesting enough line up. wonder how much of a Timberlake-Sepultura cross over there will be 😀

I’ve noticed FTP don’t really tour that often and especially not in Europe!

Could definitely see Olivia Rodrigo back for a big outdoor tour or headline EP

Amazed that Neil Frances has never played Ireland. Obvz theres the awkward name sharing / SEO craic here.

Ah I was a bit disappointed Penfailed. Was in with the brother, so catching up, missed junodream. But Ride didn't hit the high spots for me. I thought some of the new stuff was desperately poor. Older stuff great but the chasm between then and now left me feeling a bit depressed for them. I'd only turn up again for a retro fest.

Hopefully we get Justin Timberlake either at EP or Dublin somewhere.

Foster the People played before, EP 2011 I think. I didn’t know them then so didn’t bother. All I remember is pals telling me I knew them and singing Pumped Up Kicks to me but nothing sinking in. Good reports from that set.

I agree with @Stillill42 that most of the newer stuff was mediocre and it was a pretty flat start to the gig. Cure/NO influence on the recent stuff.
They improved as it went on, the newish Kraitrock track was excellent, Kill Switch also great and the ending was immense. 4 of the last 5 tunes were Seagull, Vapour Trail, Leave Them All Behind and Chelsea Girl. The crowd (many in their early twenties) were lapping it up, the band were clearly enjoying it and I’d happily see them again. My nephew was with me and he wasn’t alive when most of the material was released. Shows that Ride have a new audience which I think they deserve.

Junodream in support were very impressive, varied material too, bits of Radiohead, James and Jagwar Ma for me. They finished with two new tracks which were excellent and it’s hard not to see them going places.

Great to hang out with @Mucker46 during the sets and meet @Stillill42 briefly at the end. Always a pleasure.

And to continue the Olympia debate I still consider it the best venue of its size in the country. Easy to get pit access, great bars and the sound was spot on.
