It's been Autumn since July 2023! Cloudy calm morning in South Wicklow but pleasant enough. Going to get the lawns cut today hopefully, start of hedge and tree cutting season now too so lots of outdoor work to be done. Hopefully the relatively dry trend for the east continues.

I shouldn’t be disappointed but I am. The “heatwave” is actually a glorious late summers day yesterday and the grey slate and the breeze today.

Dull, cool and breezy in longford.

But at least it's more appropriate for the season! 🤣

Went to Howth today, brilliant new playground for the kids.

A very meh day weather wise very dull and grey but on plus side not windy thankfully and mild enough that a light jacket did the job.

As evening set ina mist rolled in from the sea.

What a weird grey day, after that glorious day yesterday for outdoor gathering in Wicklow. Was super.

Needed lights on cars at 5pm. Mind you most rear lights absent but all front daytime running lights on in rearview mirror on M50.

Tonight is grey, dull and night closing in. No rain. Must be for the early hours of tomorrow.

Was in Howth today aswell ,doing the walk around the coastal area. Was very dull would have been lovely on a sunny day. But at least it was dry.

A strange grey day alright, but I appreciated the cloud cover to tackle a hedge pruning job after all the summer growth. Looks like a mild night ahead with minimums of 15c here (SW Laois).

I love autumn as well but proper autumn. Not the grey slate muck that's become year round default in this country.

We had two weathers today in Tralee. I sat out for a sunny breakfast this morning and then got two washes dry on the line. Very warm, alternating between hazy and direct sunshine. It was only fabulous. Got cloudier as the day went on but still very warm and then at 5PM came the rain. The real, horrible Irish rain and you could feel the temperatures drop simultaneously. Slate grey after that, mini heatwave over. So frustrating that summer 2024 can't deliver more than 2/3 days max and will autumn 2024 be the same? I very much hope not. I'm not a fan of RTE but going to tune into RTE evening weather to see how this week pans out according to their charts. Hoping to head up west at the end of the week but won't do it in the usual muck weather. Not at Irish hotel /restaurant prices.

Ah snap, wasn't it very busy and it wasn't even sunny, must have been absolutely jammed yesterday.

Incredibly humid evening in South Wicklow. The patio is wet with condensation and walls of the house are wet to the touch. We had this during the warm weather last September too, makes sitting outside a little unpleasant.

Wet morning but mild 13C at 7am.

    Leitrim

Dull morning, mild. Looks like being a damp day and a pretty non-descript week of weather ahead, N Kildare

MT's forecast always seems to be the opposite of what weather apps are saying for later in the week (Not intended as a criticism of them). I guess it's a timing thing.

Miserable morning in Dublin as well.

Really can't say I share the enthusiasm many seem to have for autumn, to me I just associate it with increasing darkness, increasing wind and rain, increasing cold etc. Basically everything I hate about our climate

Sounds lovely, and Howth is one of my favourite parts of Dublin. Even on a dull and cool day the place is usually crammed. Funnily enough it seemed warmer yesterday than Saturday, even though it was sunny on Saturday.

Pouring down in Arklow now at 35mm/hr

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭KanyeSouthEast

desperate morning in the city centre. Plenty of tourists around all looking happy to be “escaping” the heat and sun in Europe.
