You describe it as both "not particularly good" and "good advice" in the same sentence. I'd ask for a link but I'm done with Peterson and his drivel I think so there'd be no point.

I think it's best we leave it there.

    I don't dispute he's smart.

Why do I expect someone who knows about a topic to give a rounded view? It's their job IF they want to be considered a good source of information on the topic. If they want to cherrypick info from what they know to teach the conclusions they want you to have igno, ring any info that doesnt suit, that's fine, but they can't also be a good source if information.

Fox News isn't a good source of news no matter how smart the people running it are. It's biased in the same direction, every time. So it's not a good source of info if you want to learn about a topic, same as Peterson.

If you want some reasons to back up your conclusion that women have too much influence in the world and trans people are a bad idea, then Peterson is your man. But you won't come away with a better understanding of the topic, just reasons to back up the conclusion you already reached. Because he'll cherry pick the information he has.

Yeah I should of just said good. To be honest Peterson should of never been brought into this thread in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,189 ✭✭✭Greyfox

It's not their job, their job is to give advice or their opinion and then back it up. It's perfectly normal to cherrypick which facts are used and if a person only goes to one source for info then that person is a moron. Fox news should not be allowed to be biased but an individual is allowed to voice their own opinion.

In musks case he believes the mother had an impact raising the child which made them confused of their gender, for me as an outsider it seems he has a point.

As utterly vile as Musk. Passing judgement on people based on nothing but the witherings of an egomaniac

He's highly intelligent a self made multi millionaire from a council estate the lad has done good, those that despise him are playing 100% into his hands they are far too ignorant to understand about 50-60% of what he does is an exaggerated act. He understands all publicity negative or otherwise is still publicity.

I think those that hate him are being played and he could buy and sell them people 100 times over so a lot of it is jealousy and are they really that naive and ignorant they don't see the exaggerated OTT character he plays is a act? Come on like man plays the media and those that despise him like a fiddle.

Jake Paul does something very similar, as he said 'whether they like or hate me their eyeballs are on me and that puts tens of millions in my bank account'

Very true. People in Ireland who never met the man nor ever will writing about him incessantly. Like the old saying goes all publicity is good publicity.

And he is right about mental health, you have to sort it out yourself. Use depression as motivation to change your life is the right attitude. As someone who suffered with mental health myself you learn you have to get motivated and do something about it otherwise things like depression will steal your life from you; far far far too many people want to take medication and get drugged up to avoid the harsh truth that you have to fix yourself, no one else can and never will.

Watch people pile on now for not hating on a man I never met nor ever will!

Yeah we're going in circles. I think intelligence and knowledge is great if you share it to enlighten, not just cherrypick the bits that support your conclusion. I suppose he's afraid if he gave the full picture, then people might make up their own minds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,189 ✭✭✭Greyfox

Na, he's just doing what most people in the world do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,457 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Not remarkable as a good influence then. Just the same as most people in the world.

If he's as clever as you say, he's wasted it

Elon Musk is vile? Well he's created tens of thousands of jobs that means hundreds of thousands of people are fed/housed and clothed because of him.

I seen a video of one of his Tesla factories where staff sang his praises about how kind he was and how he remembered all their names personally. One black gentleman cried explaining how he was struggling and unemployed before the job.

I think anyone who is responsible for putting a roof over the head of hundreds of thousands of people indirectly is doing good regardless of their opinions. Opinions don't mean anything it's amazing people don't get that, it's just words, noise.

Actions in the real World mean something. Elon has helped a hell of a lot more people than you or I ever will and you opinion that he is vile is just that an opinion, meaningless empty words that mean nothing in the real world.

Do you pay Andrew a monthly subscription for pats on the head or how does the whole superfan thing work?

I would suggest reading the recently released wire taps on his phone if you want a bit of insight into him and his brothers abusing young women.

  • Site Banned Posts: 156 ✭✭jamieon

Luckily, I could care less absolutely everyone including the Tates, but I seen a tshirt recently that said 'Guys who are feminists are hot' and its people who will wear these shirts are most butthurt with the Tates, and in turn this is why I like the Tates. The abuse of woman is still hearsay, a recording doesn't prove it. and until something does absolutely 100% prove it then I will continue to enjoy their trolling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,638 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

The only thing that proves is that we still need feminism.

If you couldn't care less about the Tates, why are you on a discussion thread about them?

So it is your affirmation that the Tate brothers have never abused any women and none of that is about to come out in court?

Sorry to say, but you may be betting on the wrong horse…

  • Site Banned Posts: 156 ✭✭jamieon

I never said they didn't but no court has said they did either.

  • Site Banned Posts: 156 ✭✭jamieon

Can't prosecute anybody from a 'claim'. If they are guilty and its proven without doubt then fair enough. My life won't change, as will nobody else's on the outside. But until then I will enjoy the humour i find in them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,638 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

Of course you can. Women have claimed to be raped and trafficked by Tate and now it's in court.

What humour is there to find in them, as a matter of interest?

Beyond humour to find at their expense, of course.

I'd ask the same thing. They are trolling professionally it seems. Which in and of itself is not a bad thing. Some professional trolling is actually humorous and has a good effect on the world. I enjoy the trolling from Craig Jones for example. It's harmless roasting and fun and comes from a place of love and respect quite often.

What little I have seen of Tate however is not funny. What about posting on the twitter of a guy who's son is dying - for example - was comical trolling? Is this what is funny now?

I think trolling like any humour can come from a place of love or a place of hate.

What's funny about abusing and exploiting vulnerable women?

  • Site Banned Posts: 156 ✭✭jamieon

Oh lad, where do I go with you. Its not proven, just because you are giving them the social media trial by fire doesn't make it true. Like it could be true who the **** knows, but in this present moment nothing is proven.

So aside from that, as I asked, what's funny about them? Genuinely curious to see where you're getting all these supposed LOLs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,504 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

What do you think the chances are of some of it being significantly true?

Out of curiosity, would you consider Piers Morgan to be in that same category along with Peterson and Rogan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,638 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

No. He's almost as bad but he at least has some standards. He's traditional corporate media, not a grifter peddling hate and fake news for a bulk. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of similarities but the answer is no.

Watched the BBC Panorama documentary aired this evening on the serious rape and violence allegations against Tate.

Utterly disgusting man - as is his brother. I dearly hope this vile misogynist is jailed for a long time for his crimes against women.

A dangerous individual too in terms of the number of feeble-minded boys and "men" he peddles his reductive brand of hatred of women to via his online platforms.
