What you refer to are estimated delivery dates which can and do change. (recent one you mention is just 4 days from end of previous dates). They will be handling hundreds of cars with logistics of getting them from Shanghai —> Zeebrugge —) Dublin Port —> NVD Baldonnel —> Customer are always subject to delays along the supply chain. It is an asymetric supply and Tesla delivery staff have to stagger large volumes which arrive at one time and that takes time also. EDD's are dynamic and visible in your phone app and one could argue that it is the level of communication from Tesla (via the app) that is contributing to your stress. With other Car manufacturers you wont have the same visibility and you wait until they contact you about delivery.

If you have a VIN you can expect a car shortly and it will be worth the wait

Me too from an initial May/June estimate. The communication is absolute crap, there isn't that much of an order book in Ireland for someone to call you and explain why the constant delays or give an actual genuine date. Its not really good enough to just push a date out on an app everytime the car is due. More and more people buying Teslas aren't going to be fanboys who just accept the "thats just Tesla, tough ****" sort of excuse for poor customer service. It won't be good for them in the long run.

I disagree on the VIN comment. I've had my Vin for nearly 2 months and still don't have a car.

I get that the cars are shipped in and take 4-6 weeks... Which means they should have a fairly solid EDD once the car is on the Ship. My EDD has moved 3 times from July now to Sept. Did my car miss the boat 3 times ?

On communication, I just want the app or Tesla sales rep to notify me that the EDD has been delayed. If I don't check the app, I would be still expecting the car this month.

I'd agree, no communication would actually be better than poor communication. I've been expecting my M3 since the end of July (first EDD 16th July to 30th July) and been disappointed 3 times.

If they called me when the car arrived without EDD and it was Sept, I wouldn't have a problem with that !

The cars aren't built to order so your car never actually goes onto the boat 🙂. It becomes your car while it's on the boat, used to be around Suez I think. So it sounds like for 3 different boatloads your order didn't get matched against a car on the boat. Which was either very unlucky or you've ordered an unusual spec like a red MYP with hitch.

No it's a standard RWD in White no extras, think quite common version. I've had my VIN 2 weeks after order and hasn't changed!

Yeap, all good, 20% charge on it and they gave 150km supercharger credit

Picked up mine on Wednesday (14th), 20% battery, nice and clean….no issues. The car has surpassed my expectations, I couldn't be happier (ordered June 24th, dates were pushed out once). It came with a home charger btw

I hope everyone waiting get theirs soon, i know the feeling but its worth the wait.

July 3rd is the cut off date for the Universal Mobile Charger, after that date you have to pay for it but in fairness €200 is very cheap for an (up to) 7kW charge option

Also, if you are in no rush/need, the 150kms free SuC lasts 6 months

Representing a value of about 10 euro for most owners at SuC rates, or considerably less at home charging rates.

Do you get a notification that you have a registration? Or does it just appear in the app. Due to pick up model 3 at 12 tomorrow. Have rang some insurance companies. They won't quote without a reg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭JOL1

Usually you get it the day before (last minute). Check your Documents section on your Tesla account as often "Proof of registration" is first found there and I also have always got a SMS message with Reg number/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭bobcatboo123

Did you manage to change your insurance over. I'm with 123.ie and they cant recognise the reg. When he tried to enter it manually there was no option for model 3 RWD.

Just insure it under Model 3 SR+, that's all AIG have for my insurance

Collected my model 3 today from dublin. 22 percent charge! Came with a slow charger in the boot even though I only ordered mid July. I'd already bought one separately!

Have a collection time tomorrow at 12.Got my registration number at 4:30pm. But cannot find in the insurance company. What should it do for this. Can’t log in to motor tax to pay the tax as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭JOL1

This is usual, it takes a day or two to feed through to the respective database. Don't worry at all about Motortax it can be done online in a day or two without consequences. call your insurance company and give them the registration number and model etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭bobcatboo123

My insurance company couldn't find the exact model when I called and the reg wasn't recognised. Someone here kindly said the model 3 RWD is the SR+ so that's what I stated and they changed the insurance over. I haven't sorted the tax yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,346 ✭✭✭John arse

Don't worry about the tax- it'll be backdated to the start of the month anyway.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,687 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

you can tax online with the reg and the pin will be the last 6 digits of your VIN

I collected a model 3 RWD recently and didn't show up with the insurance either so they selected manually. When I got my documents, it said Model 3 AWD Performance. Rang them just incase it would impact a claim and they said it was fine and wouldn't make a difference to my premium.

Just receive the attached from Tesla this morning requesting a further €3,500 payment despite the fact we have already paid our deposit and has PCP finance agreed with finance Ireland.

Anyone able to shed some light on it?

If you hit view details under the 3500, it will go thru the breakdown ? Maybe an error the SEAI grant wasn't applied ?
