is there a possibility that anybody could still be alive on board in an air pocket. Given the value of the yacht one would assume that air pockets might have been built into the design. There is no mention to date on the lifting of the yacht

The boat was at anchor. I'm surprised the crew weren't ready with lifeboats pre-inflated, tied up & ready to go. The storm must have been completely unexpected.

Check out the photos, look at the boom alone, the size of it and six cross trees on the mast. Lots of pressure there in big winds. RIP to the missing if they're not miraculously found.

I think it started as a thunderstorm that developed embedded tornadoes. It looks like it took a direct hit especially as no other boats seem to be bad affected.

Reports of hatches left open. I wonder was there any actual sailing crew on board.

I think it was the captain's fault. Anchor should have been lifted, hatches all closed, keel was up, should have been down, and preferably the boat facing the storm, not from the side.

The boat would have capsized, or turned, but not sunk. Individuals inside would have tumbled around, maybe a few injuries, but they would have lived. The yacht would not have sunk.

Also the storm was expected.
