Just down the Sunday this year. Overall a good day, and the good weather helped in that regard but some serious slim pickings on the music schedule. Usually on a Sunday I'd have at least 2 or 3 acts I would be looking to catch. Only one this year which was Cmat, and only caught the last of her set which was probably the best thing I seen all day, shes an amazing performer. Also caught Karma Police perform OK Computer (excellent), sing along social (great fun), the Light Runners brand of reggae on Trailer Park were very good. After that caught most of Kylie (good show but nothing special, but not my music either tbf), Damien Dempsey (grand), and a little bit of the Teskey Bros which sounded good. Walked by the back of Wolfe Tones on main stage - there are no words.

Otherwise, enjoyed mainly wandering around the smaller stages catching bits and bobs as I went along. Some of the areas like Hazelwood, and Fishtown seemed very lightly attended mid-late afternoon but they are an essential part of the festival. Without them and the minefield, free town etc. the festival would have very little to offer, as the lineup was pretty dire. Hope EP keeps this part of the festival intact.

Stuck in Red car park for an hour and haven't moved. It's a joke

The good thing about the EP used to be it could be as busy as you wanted it or plenty of chill out space. Just wondering how was it with the additional numbers?

I survived being home on my own with 3 under the age of 4, while the missus had a ball at the festival!! Win win 🙂

    Safe home all!

Don't think main arena has ever been as busy mate.

was looking at some pics and it looks like what would be the edges in the past - the crowd was 30% further back

Of the 15 Electric picnics I’ve been to, definitely the weakest musical line up and most packed main arena.

    But I loved it.

    The good:

Mother stage was great, trailer park was cool. CMAT,Kneecap, Nas and Kylie stand out acts for me. The overflow campsite was quiet enough and no gougers.

    The bad:

The layout. WTF are at. There’s no flow to the main arena anymore. Too many dead ends around the main stage. Salty Dog, Trenchtown etc. are all inside the bag check so you can no longer bring a bag of cans. There was one place with 5 bars, that all just sold the same thing.

Kodaline are the worst band I’ve ever seen live. Abysmal.

    they/them/theirs

First time I’ve ever felt unsafe at the festival was at the main stage on Friday. Jammed beyond belief.

If it’s expanded further I’m not going. The campsite gets bigger and the main arena stays the same.

The new caravan / campervan area is such an improvement and is in a much better location. We arrived around 3 on Friday and still had loads of space and fairly close to the arena. (but I did miss walking through Hendrix to see the madness)

Left on Sunday at lunchtime as real life called, but a great picnic for me with highlights being almost all Irish music like Kneecamp, Saw Doctors, Scratch and Scustin.

I saw that aerial shot of the Kylie gig. It's giving me anxiety.

Real ATN 19 traffic vibes in the red car park at the moment. 2 1/2 hours without movement.

I might have to unpack the tent. ☹️

Sending poz vibes to the red carpark crüe. Looks like the fest/guards have made a bags of it.

Ah, that’s a bummer of a way to finish your weekend. I left at 8 this morning, after guessing my way out of the Red Car Park! Even then, the approach to the M7 was getting chock a block, with no-one on point duty. Hope everyone gets out and on their way soon enough.

    Short review while I'm stuck...

Overall, a good weekend, but I don't think I can say it was up there with the best ones.

Only really fully decided in the last few weeks to make my 3rd solo trip out of 13 visits. As I hadn't made up my mind, I hadn't done a lot of research so I didn't really have too much I 'had to' see. A quick checklist of bands I know, recommendations from here and some Spotify research have me enough to fill my card.

Early Thursday arrival is the way to go. Tent was up in Eco and the first can was ceremonially opened by about 4.30 and the weekend was off…

It was great to bump in to everyone from here. It's funny that with 75,000 people, you still literally bump in to people you know over and over again.

    Hold on… movement..

Missed the registration for loyalty code this year, its a bit crap you have to keep registering.

Anyone with 3+ code that they wont be using?

Could you message me with it.

    Thanks..

Overall really enjoyed the weekend, but think that the good weather really covered for some serious issues that have cropped up this year.

As someone who first went around 10 years ago and remembers those days, the toilet facilities are not close to adequate any more with the current crowd size. There was a literal constant river of piss across the salty dog entrance to the main arena, and that was nothing compared to some of the toilet scenes in the general campsite. In the evening the waits for the women's in particular was ridiculous, and the infrequent toilet locations meant that you had more lads than usual just pissing anywhere.

The main stage (and often electric arena) is just awful now for headliners with the crowd size. Like it's packed way back past the point you can even see the stage. And the crush of people moving off afterwards is the worst I've ever seen.

The weather, meeting friends, less popular acts and areas away from the main stage is what saved the weekend for me. Can't imagine how it would have been with this kind of crowd size if it had been lashing!

Gardai can only do so much.

Left in the car around 9 and they were on point duty. Got out no bother from red out to M7

For those leaving later there was a crash on one of the roads that Gardai had to deal with so blocked up the exits from red

Still loads of places to get away from it, there was a few kids in our group and I took them off for a wander, happy out sitting around a fire or playing around some art instillations and buddle DJ, to all those people who misgendered the giant trampoline as a hammock, sorry, they were boucing before I copped it.😅

Thought it was a great weekend although I hadn't been in a few years.

Friday saw Sophie(wasn't great) but Gerry and faithless both excellent and a bit of the smirnoff stage.

Saturday saw Kasabian who were great and waterboys who were excellent as well. Went to forest for a dj set and then ended up in Mother stage which was great too(thought it was rave in the forest first)

Sunday saw a few more djs, housemates who were very good in smirnoff, shee in terminus. Wolfetones were good too. Went hannah laing but couldn't get in the terminus, it was packed. Ended up in mother again and then went salty dog for Northern lights I think they might have been called who were very good too.

Everywhere seemed to be jammed yesterday, must have been the busiest day ever down there.

Class weekend, seemed to get lucky about the red car park as we got out quick enough around half 10ish this morning.

Stayed in pink moon, was there a dj on til about 8 in the morning Saturday night?

I had been quite negative about EP24 for last while, and was not particularly looking forward to it. Even on the journey down I was not feeling it.

Ive no shame in admitting that I was probably over negative,  and actually weekend turned out to be quite good despite the lack of depth of quality on show.

Things of the top of my head.

Unlike some other posters,  I didn't think TCM were great. A bit of that has to do with Salty Dog having lost alot of its charm. While it used to be a must go-to location, its now a place for accumulating traffic. Fishtown a much better option now.

Went to see Jinx Lennon on Friday and he gave up half his show to one of his band which was odd.

Bad sound and bleed was a common theme of the weekend - left Villagers due to bleed from another stage

What really kicked off the weekend was Nas, brilliant performance and one of my faves of the weekend.

Thought Melts and Ethel Cain were OK.

Clockworks on Saturday were excellent,  would love to see them on a later time. Saw Doctors also brilliant.

Left Waterboys after they played This is the Sea,which I thought that version was poor. Moved to Jack L, and was as lively as always.

Lankum always good, but would like to see more songs from first two albums. Setlist isn't changing much from last times I saw them.

Sunday was a good EP day!

Some lovely cans and chats with our neighbours in the morning before heading in.

Stranglers followed by Spiritual Cramp was a real treat.

CMAT followed by Damien Dempsey wasalsi great. CMAT my act of the weekend, she will be high up main stage bill soon.

Sunday was just so busy with people. Unless its an act i have to see, for any evening or night time show Main Stage is a no go area for me .

Took a walk to Mindfield and again, just bustling whereas I don't remember it being that way. Not sure where another 5 or 10K will fit.

I thought crowds, especially the youth, were well behaved and saw no issues with them acting the maggot generally. Ill give credit where its due.

So the big move from EP to ATN might be put on hold - guess ill need to do both again next year 😃

It's been like that the past few years on the Monday. Total nightmare and zero info sent out to drivers.

That photo was up on Sat night/sun morning so not Kylie but I'm not sue who was playing - Calvin Harris, Noah Kahan????

(Edit - that seems to be a shot from Dermot Kennedy in 2022).

It does not look safe. Any panic in that crowd and where do they go? I've not minded the increased capacity thus far but it seems to have reached its limit. For now. Check again in another 4/5 year alongside some structural changes.

Hope Green Man was great @Stillill42, looking forward to the review.

Not down to you. It was worded misleadingly. This photo is from the same series two years ago and begs the question - WHY?
