Some performance by McLaughlin in the 400m hurdles. Smashed the World record.

McLauglin-Levrone has run 48.74 on the flat, but could probably go a deal faster on that evidence.

That is a mad fact Cram threw out...with that time McLauglin-Levrone would have been extremely close to qualifying for 400m flat final!

Bol will hardly run the 4*400m in the morning, she looks goosed. Not sure the Dutch can get through without her though, herself and Klavan by far the leading lights.

Yes, the slowest qualifying time for the 400m final was 50.17 (Jaeger of Norway).

Athletes recover very quickly. That’s why they’re special

Bol was priced up at 1/33 to win in the market without Sydney

doubled woodhall with Chopra at nearly 5/1 but Nadeem has killed that one

With the gold won, Nadeem finishes with another throw over 90m. Pakistan's first ever gold in Olympic track and field.

No arguing with Nadeem winning gold in the Javelin. He had 2 throws longer than anyone else tonight. Pakistan's first gold ever in track and field.

USA with a bit of work to do in the basketball. Too early to be getting hopeful though.

    Happy Holloway

Looks like Holloway ran it safe, didn't go for any records, and gets his Olympic gold.

Holloway deserved Gold, Best in the world. Some night for the Americans 3 Golds, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze unreal.

Holloway is an absolute powerhouse. No surprise with that result.

The American in lane 3 was so sloppy, he clipped a few hurdles and fell after the line, and still came 2nd. Imagine if Roberts had had a clean race.

"Holloway, 26, sprinted and leapt over hurdles, out ahead of the field, and won Thursday's 110-meter final in 12.99 seconds. Team USA's Daniel Roberts took silver, 0.1 seconds behind at 13.09. Jamaica's Rasheed Broadbell took bronze less than a hundredth of a second behind Roberts."

🥈pretty much all names won a medal. Won a few quid but could have been so much better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,896 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Roberts getting 2nd was crazy, hit so many hurdles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭BlazingSaddler

I wonder if Roberts wouldn’t have hit at least 3 hurdles would the result have been different

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,229 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

Think Holloway would have won regardless of Roberts' sloppiness but Christ his start was absolutely blistering.
