The sound that the P-51 makes is apparently in part caused by the airflow over its six wing gunports. G-BIXL still has these in place. It is a genuine WW2 veteran, by the way, that was based in England in April/May 1945.

The Spitfire is such an iconic aircraft, the merlin engine sounds is also iconic. Back in 2014 I saw a flyby with 10 of them, 3-4 Hurricanes' and a couple of Buchons.
(I know the history and that the Hurricane was equally important in the early 1940s)

I could be wrong, but that will probably be the last time the s92 displays at Bray Airshow. As the contract changes later in the year and the coast guard switch to aw189.

Given I forgot my DSLR camera going to Bray yesterday, I couldn’t forget it today given I took these out my attic window!!

There have been a number of Spitfires perform at Bray over the years including one in Irish Air Corps colours back at the very first show in 2005. I have to say the one there yesterday, was probably the most aesthetically pleasing 😊

I always knew the Spitfire was quick, but I was quite taken aback at how quick it was when seeing it in the flesh….

Yea agreed, the display yesterday, demonstrated that well, particularly with the vertical climb at the start. This version was built for reconnaissance, so the speed and high level flight characteristics, were important given the mission.
