Doesn't seem to be any riots in Scotland, which have just started the SPL, you may be on to something!

The UK is in the process of shifting from a 'high trust' society, due to there no longer being a sense of cultural unity, and extreme individualism. People live their lives very detached from the people around them, as the old way of growing up in an area where you were born, and your parents were born and so on.

The glue that binds has been chipped away, so in order to form a society, more authoritarian police policies are requited.

This isn’t just because of mass migration from cultures that are incompatible with Western values, but also how capitalism has made people into little more than consumers, who buy their identity, and form their personality around products and not communities.

Clever word play may win debates, but it doesn't make it true.

Understanding and explaining things, is not the same as justifying them, if in doubt… please re-read this statement.

It doesn't help when you have ideologues in Government. This country is hopelessly reliant on foreign investment and that's fine to an extent. The dial can't be shifted in our favour when you have the likes of the Greens dictating to the entire population that we, uniquely amongst nations, can't exploit the natural resources in our own territory. They find billions of barrels of oil off the coast of Kerry? Good luck with that - has to stay in the ground. Gas found off Donegal? That has to stay in the ground too. Why? Because of delusional notions that this country matters when it comes to stuff like this and we have to be the good boys. It's insane while everyone else does their thing.

This country needs to wake up.

I hear the greens should get back to their roots, hopefully that means buried

Must be a little alarming at this stage for normal British citizens how the UK authorities are not able to get on top of this. Far right thugs smashing the place up and other gangs marauding around attacking randomers with what looks like impunity.

Loads of evidence of a two tier system at play this evening. Looking at the livestreams of Birmingham and there’s hundreds of Asian men In balaclavas marching in the streets and no police in sight. They’ve already smashed windows of passing cars.

There is no such thing as two-tier policing. A dump from some random Tiktok channel does not change that.

If there’s 2 groups of people blocking off roads, wearing masks and smashing windows but there’s only a police presence beside one group then they’re applying different rules.

The link wasn’t a dump but a current livestream.

How do you know they’re Asian if they’re wearing balaclavas?

Any proof of a two-tier system? Not dumps but actual proof?

    Nothing whatsoever then.

    I'm not clicking your dump.

Much stricter penalties for rioting in the UK compared with Ireland.

I assume the carry on in Birmingham today has been getting the same mainstream news coverage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,384 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

You have to wonder if the constant live broadcasting by Sky news is inflammatory as in driving on the rioters. Surely less coverage the better chance of things calming down...

I thought things would simmer down in England after the weekend, but in some ways the scenes tonight from Birmingham and Plymouth are the most serious so far. There seems to be direct clashes between groups of Muslims and groups of anti immigrant mostly far right protesters in Plymouth (as reports on Sky News) and then the videos above from Birmingham are pretty disturbing. Will the trouble just naturally dial down as it did in 2011? Difference now is this is starting to become community on community rather than community vs police. I

The local police say everything that went on this evening in Birmingham is no different to what you’d see in a Saturday night.

Jess Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham says it’s important to know why people are congregating this evening.

As seen on sky news earlier…..

On the one hand a group that feel aggrieved/left out with a smattering of the ol xenophobia on the other a group who are a law onto themselves who see it their duty to retaliate and counter retaliate

Could get very messy, army deployment messy if they start facing off

when brexit happened many european immigrants left, or changed destination.

the void they left was thereafter filled by non-eu immigration.

the original frustration of brexit was understandable, but a poor decision was made.

efforts to reduce immigration should have focused exclusively on non-eu immigration.

the results as we can see from your links, are disasterous.

(i was predicting this back in the brexit days when i was trying to explain the critical error to brexiters but just ended up being called a remoaner and a lefty).

Wonder will the police be given the all clear to use plastic bullets on the public in areas outside NIRL 🤔

As the violence escalated, police issued a warning that plastic bullets would be used if attacks continued.

Getting concerning now. Can see it spread here too if not handled.

One thing that's striking on social media videos is the volume of young Muslim men compared to that of the Brits, the numbers are astonishing.

The whole situation is a mess but if it comes down to it the yobs throwing bricks and bins around will be seriously outnumbered in a lot of places and they'll be dealing with younger guys armed with machetes etc, it could be a blood bath.

The UK government have completely lost control of the situation, it's going to get worse before it gets better and it's hard to see how and when it gets better from here.

    Glazers Out!

Well we're used to it by now. Over 20 refugee centres set on fire. Protesters holding up construction refugees in Dundrum in Tipp and Coolock. And the State allowing the hold up.
