Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question - If you are on a mobility panel and then you take a Career Break, what happens to your place on the mobility panel?

Does your number on the panel freeze until you come back off the Career Break or does the mobility panel stay active while on Career Break? Or do you lose your place on the mobility panel altogether??

Page 5 states while on a career break, the career break time is not counted towards a transfer list. So I imagine that means that whatever position you are on the mobility list when you go on career break is held until you are back.

If you're on a career break and intending to remain so, you should put your mobility applications on hold.

If you're on a career break and intending to return imminently, you could take them off hold in the hope that you'll get to return on transfer to a new org / location.

When on hold, your applications will not receive offers, but will move up the lists as normal (assuming some of those above you move off the lists).

However, if your position on any list is partially based on service in grade, you may be overtaken by people who were below you on the list. This can happen where you applied on the same day as other people on the list, and were above them due to higher service only - if their service overtakes yours, they would move higher than you. This is more likely to occur where you have made applications on launch day, as many others were also applying then.

When on career break, you will still need to confirm your applications annually in order to retain them. This applies even if they are on hold. You should make sure that your home email address is logged to the system to ensure this (if not already done).

You may be asked to supply a home email address during the career break application process so that you can be contacted about your eventual return; this will not generally be used for any other purpose, including mobility.

I was on a career break for six months and I'm now back at the same office in same department. I started August 2024. I have mobility down again since July 2024. I was wondering if in August 2026 will be eligible for mobility again as it's two years in office or is the 6 month career break taken away.
